  1. Aeropress, in my opinion, makes better coffee than french press or Bialetti. Use it every day.
  2. Never ever ever again will I buy/ride Conti MTB tires.
  3. Since it's almost Friday I'll just leave these articles/videos here. Article mixing various Shimano/SRAM components: https://www.bebikes.com/the-hub/1mmtdv5ypu0vc1p4kze6r05wtxvufp This guy literally just swapped out his SRAM RD for a Shimano one - using a SRAM shifter.
  4. Guy on the left with the curly hair always look high to me.
  5. Peet Le Roux does Bike Fits in Stellenbosch - never used him. He is twice as expensive as Irma though at R1,900. https://www.bikescience.co.za
  6. Thanks for the link - will help a lot of okes. Just not going to work for me this time.
  7. If you have to add shipping then you really might as well buy from Skelmized.
  8. Thanks gents. Went and bought a pair of their shoes, the recons 1.0
  9. My Specialized MTB shoes are a few years old and need some new inner soles. Specialized sell these for R650 (should have expected this). Anyway. Anyone repaced theirs with these or is there a well suited alternative?

    ring the bell

If I come across the details I’ll ring you up.
  11. Difficult to give mileage. According to Strava, probably around 700km if I take into consideration that I ride with other bibs as well. That is +-700km of MTB usage with sunscreen applied to my legs.
  12. Longer term feedback on the Vye Mirage bib: Chamois: The chamois started out feeling very comfortable. After around 3 months it doesn't feel as nice anymore. I suspect the chamois is the best part of the bib. Spandex: Spandex feels and looks sub-par. The knobs that keep the bib above your knees came off after the 2nd wash. After around the 4th wash the strip above your knee lost its shape and started to curl up. Definitely not worth the R1,200 odd price tag I payed in 2021. Quite expensive if you only get 6 months of use out of a bib for R1,200 - won't buy Vye again
  13. I paired mine with this bit set (allen and torx) for R94 https://www.takealot.com/kaufmann-screwdriver-bit-set-33-piece/PLID51972265?gclid=CjwKCAjwi9-HBhACEiwAPzUhHE_Tu-pqZJkWk0D_xolmBp3LHS-5rKJ_UKw2WGlC5-IN6cRx5K8b3BoC9GoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

  15. Bosch has a much nicer one that's a drill-driver. Often times you can find it for R1,200. Worth the wait.
  16. How much can I get for my 2017 Orange Ibis Ripley LS (Large) frame? Non-boost.
  17. Will try and find it. Found the add via google but the seller has deleted all his adds and I can't remember the profile name.
  18. The other day I was browsing Facebook's marketplace and came across an add for a wheelset. The seller is in Mitchells Plain and he's selling quite a lot of bike parts (XX1 12 speed cassette, Shimano Brakes, etc). I enquired and asked whether he bought the items new. I was told that he bought it from someone 2nd hand. Now I know this game - you buy things at a bargain and sell it for a profit. But to be able to sell bike parts at a profit at these prices you have to buy it for next to nothing. Thing is, I then got suspicious, looked int he stolen bikes section and found a Giant stolen a few years back with the same wheelset. It's a relatively unique wheelset and might be a total coincidence..I asked to meet up and didn't hear a word back from the guy which was then also very weird. I also noticed the same seller selling on our Classifieds but here the wheelset was marked as sold and he explicitly told me that it's still available. We know the drill - bikes get stolen and it has become increasingly difficult to then sell said bike. It seems the new thing is to strip it for spares and sell it to a chain of people with those same parts then ending up here. There are similar sellers/adds here on our classifieds and I suspect a lot of these items must be stolen: - Lots of spelling mistakes on adds for very expensive/scarce bike parts. - Seller locations in Cape Town's dodgy neighbourhoods (for expensive bike parts this is very unusual). - Relatively new profiles that are selling a range of bike parts. A combination of the above is highly unlikely and raises questions. Question is, how the heck do we keep the classifieds free from parts that could have been stolen from its members in the first place.
  19. That makes sense. Thanks!
  20. Could you please clarify this - so (1) the CSA membership is free (you simply register). Then you can (2) purchase either an annual license (R250) or a day license (R50). It seems that for the Wines to Whales they require a CSA license..?
  21. Is the new way of applying for an annual CSA license legit? https://www.cyclingsa-events.co.za/app_v2/ Seems like a waste of money to pay R50 per day for a 3-day stage race if I can rather purchase an annual license which I will definitely use again.
