Once again consulting the hive mind of the bike hub

Which hardtail E-bike in the 40 to max 50k bracket for a beginner female cyclist (Size small) to ride on gravel and once the intial wobbles are sorted on very elementary single track and who is VERY unlikely to want to do anything riskier or more hardcore than that.

    Suggestions please.

Hi, I have a demo Titan Nitric for sale on The Hub Classifieds, its from Valencia VBike in Nelspruit, it was used by the Boss daughter to do the Argus and then put back on the floor, check it out. Its a great spec - small frame, will let it go for R40k.

  2. From what I understand of the rules regarding lead vehicles the ‘lead vehicle’ in terms of item 4 of the rules was not doing its job, it was ill prepared to do its job since it neither knew the course nor did it remove an obstacle. What sanction does the race organiser get from CSA for this? They should be fined according. From everyone’s perspective it seemed like a few guys having a good time in someone’s Porsche without any concept of their responsibility to the race, very poor PR.

At the same time when was the last time any race organiser, either road or MTB got a sanctioning from CSA? many of us suffer poor marking, dangerous course layouts and yet no race organiser as far as I am aware has ever been fined? CSA wants every race to be sanctioned, is this to protect the riders or simply collect valuable income? it appears CSA's approach is to assume that riders will simply not return to poorly organised races and yet in this economic climate the Pro's and semi Pro's don't have that luxury - who is there to protect them?  I agree with the concept that the rider must not follow the lead vehicle but in this case the lead vehicle should have been a km ahead of the rider to ensure the course was clear and correctly marked without obstacle, the organiser in this case shoulders the blame for appointing a lead vehicle and its occupants on what appears to simply be a joy ride. It would be interesting to see if there was a Comm in the car, if there was they should also be disciplined, though I doubt we'd ever hear about it...

  3. Did anyone watch the German Documentary referred to in Katie Comptons press release on Cycling News? Very scary if you are an athlete, you can be 'infected' by merely having a substance dabbed on your skin during a handshake or pat on the back, the amount is sufficient to be an immediate 4 year ban.

FOR THE 25th YEAR! ! THE 2020 “NOON TO MOON” RACE

    5 December SABIE

The Lowveld Chaingang Cycle Club are yet again hosting the Fantastically Brilliant 10 hour 'NOON TO MOON' endurance relay race for teams of 3 (or 4 if it includes one or more tough chicks!) Teams complete as many laps as possible around a 7,5KM course of lovely flat Jeep track and single track twistier than a politicians excuse. The start is at 10:00 from Merry Pebbles resort and includes 3 hours of scary night riding (bring your own lights) lots of prizes and trophies, cheap camping available on site as well as catering! Enter at, www.entrytime.com, Valencia Cycles or enter on the day (lazy late comers will be penalized!)

This is probably one of the most sociable races on the calendar, teams are encouraged to give themselves outrageously descriptive names and for some it’s one 10 hour cycling party whilst for others it’s a tactical battle!

The timing system allows teams to continually track their progress and the possibility of changeable weather always makes for an interesting challenge! 2015 was ‘almost’ dry and super fast with really close racing and warm evening temps. But who knows, 2020 could be NOON TO MONSOON!

So don’t delay, get all your buds together, or for you sad dudes with no mates try it solo!

Put air in your tubes, saddle up, lube your equipment, and join us for the best dirty fun you can have with knobbly rubber!

  7. Hi there, if you are willing to drive a bit you can park at a small town about 20kms away and then ride up Mariepskop - this is a stunning endless climb thru nature reserve that goes up for about 25kms and takes you right back up the escarpment, the last section is so steep they had to concrete it but the views are stunning. Pro Elite rider Samantha S

anders lives in the area and could give you more details as well, pm me and I'll put you in touch.
