  2. PwC dished out XC marathon calendars along with the normal golfing ones for 2014. Haven't seen as many HD pics of 29ers on district roads, ever. Good quality pics though.
  3. What Slowbee said. Personally I have a good relationship with Velo and I'll continue to support Malan and his team even though I moved to Stellenbosch. Had good impression from William too.
  4. Above Coetzenburg on my way to work this morning
  5. I quite VA about 4 months ago - cant really remember. The exercises depends on the particular instructor and varies. Don't worry about making a fool of yourself. I always went at my own pace, which increased as my fitness got better. 24 was a good mix of cardio and strength training.
  6. Really good workout. Enjoyed it while I was a member. You can also try the kenesis and bootcamp classes. Improved my overall fitness.
  7. +1 on the original ybike for my 20 month old.
  8. Jammer man, tegnologies gestremd. Did a screenshot van google maps. Ride out on the R102, turn left before the bridge crossing the Kabbeljauws River and just continue on that road. Ignore the private property sign on the first gate: that guy is trying his luck (my grandfather used that road with an ox wagon to go to Jbay for the family vacation way back). About 500m after that gate, the road forks. Go right and continue to the tarred road. Right on the tar road for about 500m to almost at the top of the hill. Take the gravel rd back to Kabbeljauws (this is a bit boring). At this point the wind will probably be gailforce in your face... Just after crossing the railroadline, take the road to the right till just before it crosses the railroad again. Follow the railroad on the jeeptrack next to it. Watch out for the dogs when passing the farmhouse on your right. They are big and fast. Baie keer ry ons sommer net tot by die teerpad en terug, so 35km. Dis meer interessant.
  9. My +-45km training ride when in Jbay. Mostly gravel rd. When crossing the railroad line, follow the road to the right until it connects to the railrd line again (the red line on the attached map). There is a jeep track adjacent to the railrd line. This way you limit your time on the R102. OR: you could just cross the R330 and continue on to Andrieskraal in the Gamtoos valley (+-50km) or continue further into the Baviaans. This is basically district road riding. Please keep the farmers on the road happy by closing gates behind you. It's no fun chasing after escaped cattle on Christmas day.
  10. Family farm in Gamtoos Valley. Playing around on cattle paths
  11. My laaitie was colicky. Only way to make him stop crying was sitting with him on a rocking chair & singing this song on repeat for THREE hours. Then my wife took over, making up words as she went along. Still love this song though. Wish Steve Goodman got more credit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ0JgqoF2W4
  12. I just love John Prine's stuff... Something for Feelgood Friday http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md98jDOszeU
  13. My boet bought a dual sus ti frame from Waltly Titanium (China) for a reasonable amount. They make SS spesific frames with sliding drop-outs as well. Check out their Facebook page.

  17. Don't see why not - G spot ends at an access point for the Dalsig residents to Stellenbosch mountain. (From 1 Dec I'm living 450m from there )
  18. A bit of John Prine goodness http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Exr-DOWJ3A0
  19. When did you ride Osseberg? I know Nature Conservation isn't doing any upkeep on the road. Is it still rideable? Rode it in 2008 for my batchelors. Great memories.
  20. I have X9 gripshifts on my old bike (2004 model, which my wife now use). Had to re-set gears only 3 times since then. SRAM only released the 10-spd gripshifts after I bought the new bike, and that is the only reason I didn't spec it. Currently use SRAM triggers - works well. My boet has XX gripshifts on his bike. Magnificent. Definitely recommended! If I upgrade anything on my bike it will be: Dropper seatpost Gripshift
  21. I run them tubeless. Grip is good (esp with Ibex which is more of a trail/all mountain pattern) and the Canis is fast rolling. I don't think you get the Ibex in 29er, but I've seen a lot of new BMC-s running Canis front and rear. At this stage I cannot comment on longevity, but it seems to be an inbetween compound.
  22. I run Onza: Ibex front and Canis rear. Transformed my bike. Best upgrade yet (still need to get a dropper seatpost, though).
  23. I bought a 2005 model with 68000km on the clock at the beginning of 2012. Really enjoy the car. It is NOT fuel efficient (+-8.5km/l ave), though. No issues thus far.
  24. Some ultra-runners swear by them: http://www.atrailrunnersblog.com/2005/10/product-idea-injinji-nut-tsak.html
  25. Where did you get this??? Interwebs? Wikipedia!!! Looks like an American definition... Not helping much... In SA Law, Murder is defined as "the unlawful and intentional causing of the death of another human being" – Snyman Criminal Law 447. Therefore 3 tests to prove murder: Unlawfulness - easy, did Gouws have a lawful right to cause the cyclist's life - NO Intent - More difficult, see my previous post on intent. Cause - Did he do it? Let's leave it up to the Judge, Prosecutor and Defense to iron out. You said you'd like to approach this topic based on the law. The law is neutral. The law is clear. Perhaps do a bit more research before posting?
