  1. Been running Ibex front, Canis rear for more than a year: no problems. Awesome tyres. In fact: Only tyres that, when the current set is finished, I would replace with the same mix since started cycling in 2000. (haven't had ANY puncture issues at all)
  2. Now for a proper beer: Triggerfish Crazy Diamond
  3. Excluding equipment, which was about R900 including first brew, I'd guess about R275 for an effective 21 liters of beer (48 - 50 bottles). I recycle my bottles (Windhoek draft & craft beer 440/550s - part of the fun is collecting them) and that may reduce the cost compared to what the other okes said. Search the beer brewing kits forum here on thehub. Lots of info in there. Main tips: 1) Hygiene is your friend, 2) use 440ml bottles to reduce bottling labour.
  4. I brew my own, and its so good I have to drink it out of red wine glasses - actually I don't have other glasses big enough to take a 440ml in one shot... . Currently I have the following in stock: English Bitters, Nut-brown ale, a brown ale (pic below) and an American Pale Ale (my favorite to date).
  5. Sitting at the office since 5am writing accounting policies... at least there is John Prine on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2Cnbhhf_YY

  8. Closing trails will be cutting your nose to spite your face. Spaz stands to lose more if the trails are closed. Trailmansam has inextricably linked them with possible trail closures. If trails are closed, I for sure know which brand I will not consider for my next bike...
  9. Another one: This time Will Carling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03gpzFZadcQ

  11. Previous week-end took the rigid to Jonkershoek down Never-ending Story
  12. I use a Feeva star seat on the old mtb as a skoolbus to take my 2 yr old to play school. He loves it. Started using it when he was 21 months old (in pic). He now weighs 13 kgs at just over 2 yrs and the short ride becomes a bit of a work-out. I taught him to "hou-vas", especially over speedbumps, which he loves. Don't think I'll take this set-up with its cargo down G-Spot though...
  13. Jonkershoek on the way up to the Saddle and down the Canaries
  14. "Oodles of light what a beautiful sight, both of God's eyes are shining tonight, Rays and dreams of incredible means, and I am a quiet man" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XhgzfNLpd4
  15. I've been considering to get one of these for more than a year. Struggled to get a Dropzone, so had to settle for a LEV (Great service from the guys at Outdoor Escape in Stellenbosch .)
  16. Onza Canis. I run a canis rear (2.35? the fattish one) and an ibex front. These transformed my bike (Fourstroke 26er). The ibex is a bit slow, but grippy and not for tar. Canis is fast rolling and grippier than larsons/monorail/kenda karma/slant six/revolt super x that I previously ran. I will not buy another tire if I can find these.
  17. I have 3 sets of eggbeaters on 3 bikes. The oldest set is 10 years old & on my commuting bike. Not 1 rebuild required on any one of them. My boet also use eggbeaters on his bikes. His oldest set is 9 years old - no troubles yet.

  19. All was done (and taken) in good spirits
  20. Buddy of mine did some vac work 15+ yrs ago at an LBS. He and the mechanic chucked some (actually LOTS of) water into a (pro) buddy of theirs' tubes. The guy went on to win a race with the "serviced" wheel-set. (I personally confirmed story with said ex-pro.)
