  1. Inside Job. It seems like these guys were after very specific items too.
  2. ? they killed themselves laughing?even after the tenth time they told me? ? so i asked them why you can't smell moth balls? I give up - why can't you smell moth balls?
  3. I hate taking tires off the rim when they are tubeless. Stans or whatever sealant you use leaves a mess. If you ride them with tubes it is prbably easy enough to be worth the trouble.
  4. order them from www.dealextreme.com or www.kaidomain.com. Locally you can order them from www.extremeshop.co.za. It is a bit of a schlep to register with the sites and paypal, but worth it. Free world wide delivery...
  5. The trick in those cars is not pushing the buttons standing still, it is finding the right button while going through a 4G turn while the whole world vibrates around you. And then doing it a exactly the same time for the next 70 laps. Those F1 pilots are super human. Serendipity2009-09-26 23:52:06
  6. Cool. Many happy miles.
  7. What does the bike weight as pictured? It sure looks very light and fast.
  8. That is one sexy bike. What is your judgement on the ride difference?
  9. I don't like single speed that much but that is really pretty.
  10. I looked at the specs on their website - it seems like the top of the range bike in SA are not that light - the hard tail at 9.5kg and the Full suss at 10.5kg. Kevin Evans will put his bike on a diet probably.
  11. Just bear in mind that these two atheletes are not normal human beings. They have power to weight ratio's we can't dream of. Thy may get away with 10 gears going flat out for two hours. I centainly won't survive without my granny, never mind middle blade.
  12. I have both now after only riding a Full susser for three years. I am enjoying the hardtail a lot and also did the baviaans on the hardtail. I think it is a matter of personal preference. You could probably find as many reasons for riding both of them. If you want my advise - keep both - and when you fell like it - ride the one you feel like. If you can't afford that option, you have to make the call.
  13. I think that most male riders sit on their brains, and that after a few hours it all goes numb... I also agree that marking all routes this way would be prohibatively expensive.
  14. In my opinion, having used both for some time, the Crank Brothers pedals are lighter for sure. The candy's also have totally different cleats to SPD and they allow more lateral movement which I like. Clipping in and out were a bit strange to begin with but you get used to it quickly. In the end I suppose it is down to personal preference and you have to decide for yourself. Get a set from your LBS and try them out for a day or two first.
  15. I use SRAM on all my bikes so I am prejudiced. I am also realistic. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you don't have any hassles with XT then use it until it breaks down. The XO gripshifts with X9 will probably shift better and I would personally rather use that, personal preference differs and you might not like it. Use - don't use it - it is up to you.
  16. You might want to consider a 9 speed casette and chain too. If you go SLX (9 speed) rd your 8 speed current casette and chain obviously would not work.
  17. Team Supercars (Pieter and Hein Lategan) won in a new record time of just about 9 hours. As someone who also rode most of race (I walked some ) I think that is an incredible time. Ishen Stopforth and Peter Stopforth won the Mixed team category, placing I think 7th overall, and finishing under 10 hours. Serendipity2009-08-16 10:49:45
  18. Your mother will kill you when she sees that bike on her new couch...
  19. I was watching the bikes, you perverts...
  20. Nice pics Ronelle - did you get a pic of my double?
  21. Go for the Garmin. The Edge 705 though is better if you have the extra cash. The only negative is you can't wear the Garmin 305 on your arm and look like a cyclist while not on the bike.
  22. It is a very nice bike but it climbs like a herd of elephants. Weighs a ton too. If you are a strong man and don't mind getting your ass dropped on the climbs go for it. After four laps you will probably wish you didn't. Fun class is only two laps - go for it.
  23. Well done - hope we helped a little bit with the planning of the route. That section "I don?t know the name of the road, but it has a sign at the beginning and one at the end that says ?Map of Africa?, the steepest sections are13%, the average can?t be less than 10%" is the climb known as the Wilderniss heights climb if you took the tar road or Whites road if you took the gravel. Either one is a tough climb.
  24. I've had mine for about a year now and while I enjoy them, I have had a few issues with them. My free hub started to give problems - not releasing or 'grabbing' on fast freewheels. This was particularly scary on the single track on the Red Route. My rear axle also broke a while ago. I don't know if this is as a result of the freewheel problem - but still set me back a few bucks.
  25. And well done to Burry Stander and Kevin Evans for a great race in the 80km. Serendipity2009-07-05 01:42:07
