  2. Very nice. The riders were going pretty fast down that hill where you were taking the pictures.
  3. The organizers tempted fate by starting the 80km race at 08:00 and the 50km at 09:00. Common sense says they will finish about the same time, causing confusion. It was a great race to watch and well done to both. Serendipity2009-07-05 01:30:14
  4. Where is the wind? Down here in George the wind has been pumping all day. It looks so calm there.
  5. That article about power output comparison was fascinating - thanks. It makes sense if you look at it that way. There really is no comparison. It is two completely different desciplines.
  6. I found this story on Cyclingnews Cyclingnews This should start the old Roadie MTB debate again. To think Peraud is not even the best Mountainbiker in France - think what Absolon could do.
  7. When people pass on we want to remember the good things about their lives. Micheal Jackson leaves a tremendous legacy. May he always be remembered for what made him famous to begin with - his great music.
  8. George has the kind of cold that gets into your bones. You never really seem to dry out and even temperatures in the teens seems freezing here. I work in Oudtshoorn and even -2 degrees never seems quite as cold as the +5 degrees in George
  9. I am one of those (Mike, Harry, Sheila & Gertrude) and I want to complain about not being able to complain in my own thread...
  10. If you suspect there is trouble - go for a stress EKG and be sure. You may have been carrying a flu virus or something too. If it doesn't return to normal I would go see for an EKG. You only have one ticker...
  11. I think the economic situation must have had an effect too. There simply isn't enough money to travel to South Africa for a World Cup. Not with Nissan pulling the plug. I suppose this will leave the Epic to see the best in the World in RSA. It still sucks. I was hoping to spectate next year after missing this one.
  12. I have often heard, as a prosecutor, that people at a certain time of day do not obey traffic rules for fear of their safety. This would apply to for example not stopping at traffic lights when the light is red and not stopping at stop signs. I run most mornings, and cycle some mornings at 5 am, and this time of year, in the Western Cape, it is still very much night time. I have, on several occasions, nearly been run over by people in their cars, not stopping at Stop signs or running traffic lights against the red light. I assume they drive like this out of "fear for their safety". My question is - When do the rules apply again? When it is light enough to see? When There are more cars on the road? When you see a Police car? or just when it suits the idiot behind the steering wheel to drive just as he likes without obeing the rules of the road? Rant over - just wanted to get it out.
  13. That guy doing the front flip made me cringe. It is awesome video editing. I love the moving camera shots.
  14. In Mosselbay the mist looks thick enough to eat with a spoon. The emergency vehicles have been past a few times already...
  15. I have both XO and X9 shifters and RD on my hardtail and full sus respectively. There is very little difference in weight and very little difference in shifting. While I will agree that X0 shifters are nicer than X9, unless you are racing at the sharp end of the field, you would be spending a lot more money for not a lot more performance. I recently changed the Shimano from my wifes MTB to X7 - mainly because she wants to see what gear she is in (no I can't explain this), and that shifts pretty nicely too. It is really all about how much you can afford and of course the bling factor. The X0 is very bling-bling. Serendipity2009-06-10 21:33:26
  16. The first hill up Simola is tough on cold legs but make friends with your Granny gear and just slog it out to the top. The rest is pretty easy going with a few short, sharp climbs and one longish one before you cross the N2. There is also a section of single track here that is fun to ride and not technical at all. After you cross the N2 there are a few testing hills with really nice downhills on the other side. This comes late in the race so it will test you. At the end is a pretty technical downhill with roots and a few small drops. If you are not confident or technically gifted don't try to ride it - most people just walk it down. Overall it is a great race.
  17. I just can't wait for the Competition Commission to see this. I am just getting popcorn and I will be back. In the Internet age distributors can't get away with this sort of thing any more.
  18. Great pics.
  19. Are you planning on bringing some into the country at a decent price Kiwi?
  20. That pic of the boys and their toys should be censored...
  21. Lance probably is not showing his cards and is treating the Giro more like a training programme than a race. That said, he hates to lose and it would have hurt to get dropped like that on the climb. Leipheimer though is looking good. Funny how Horner couldn't stay with Leipheimer and Armstrong on the climbs when they rode the Gila last week, and now he is right up there with Leipheimer but Armstrong isn't...
  22. What you said on the thread was libel - did you receive a letter politely requesting you to clarify your statement? Serendipity2009-05-13 07:18:16
  23. Are you running Shimano? My NRS with XT rd used to do that. I bought SRAM X9 shifters and RD and have not had a problem since.
  24. They say you can tell the year of manufacture of your Crackendale from where it cracks... Very nice job on the frame fix though. That is not an easy weld to do from what I have read. Izuzu (Delta) lost in the Appeals court after that ruling and were ordered to pay costs. Their own legal costs were probably 10 times more than a replacement Isuzu would have been. The real damage is in the reputation of the product.
  25. Just Google the email address and I am sure you will find out if it is a scam. Both those email addresses have been used to scam people before and there is even a warning on the jmkvn@yahoo.com address http://www.rotorburn.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1291207 As they say - if it sounds too good to be true - it usually is.
