  1. I must say I wouldn't be impressed either... I am sure it's damn hard to do perfectly, but this is definitely not what I would have expected
  2. If I was United I would be all over Poch... I imagine he has plenty of suitors though, possibly better ones too. United squad just needs so much work it's actually quite scary Good start for Mourinho... played players in their positions, can't have really changed too much in such a short time, but it's a good start. Also managed to get the best out of Dele with some clever build up banter. Hopefully the start of something good Lots of managers on thin ground - I'd be surprised if we don't have a couple more out the door before year end
  3. Madrid fans have been terrible to him for years... they'll get no sympathy from me
  4. He likes a strong core spine of players... we actually have that (when they play to their potential. I think the big problem, like you mention, will come in the transfer market, we are not Real, Chelsea or Man Utd - we do things differently, and having a stadium to pay off, that's not changing anytime soon even if the clubs income is rapidly growing. Jose must have bought in on the club and the way Levy does things - this hasn't happened overnight, he's been linked with us for some time, that despite the obvious differences in ethos - so what has been promised and what Levy will deliver for him will set the tone pretty early. And the transfer window is coming up fast... Good news, we don't necessarily need that many players, 2-3 good players will likely do the job along with the recruits from July being more settled. But the key challenge will be what happens with the wealth of talents we have in the departure lounge - Eriksen, Rose, Alderweireld and Vertonghen are 4 top players, if they go, we're back to square one and probably even worse off.
  5. Eish... sad, sad day. Huge fan of Poch, but in some ways this has been coming. I hope he comes back for a second spell in the future - maybe this project of his had just run out of steam. He did perform minor miracles though and for that we will be forever grateful. I can also only tip my hat to a gentlemen of the game who carried himself with calm and pride, whoever gets him will really be getting a special one. On Mourinho, I am not a fan, and never have been... but as a Spurs fan I will give him a fair crack and hopefully he will bring in some trophies - that is one thing he seems to be good at, and it's something that has been lacking from our club at a time when we definitely should have brought home some silverware. Let's hope this works out well for all concerned - Mourinho gets back his spark, Spurs finally get some silverware and Poch the backing and credit he deserves at a top club.
  6. I'm there for work, so it's a no brainer for me...
  7. So anybody got a sniff of any good Black Friday Deals on the Garmin Fenix 5? In particular the Sapphire Plus version... I'm sure there has to be some coming
  8. Hope this is a big positive heading forward Cois! Have been admiring your bravery and courage from afar - please know we are all rooting for you
  9. Considering any site or new portal going 'live' is always such a big thing, I can't see it happening by mistake... The only possibility I can think of is that the date and time to go live was set a while back as that was the plan, but the content was not approved in time. Anyways, as pointed out by many, it's a sad state of affairs that doesn't exactly fill everyone with confidence that we'll be back to the gold standard event of pre-2019
  10. Jewbacca, you get preferential entry since you're going for your 10th... Just thinking with my sympathetic hat on, the price increase is 20%, which equates to R100... it won't even register to most of us compared with the weekends real costs. Flights, accom etc We would of expected at least a 10% increase, and then we also all know they don't have a title sponsor, so that's millions out of the race kitty. So is it really the end of the world. It is a great event, they did stuff it up a bit last year, mainly due to the challenge thrown up by the route change... but in general things have run superbly well in my experience over the years. Race entries going into a lottery, yes it should have been communicated, but it is what it is. It's fair if I am honest... not everyone is as blessed as we are to have money and internet readily available to enter. If you really want to run next year, you will be able to get an entry. I couldn't give my Ultra entry away last year when I failed to qualify. I'll be putting my name in for the lottery for sure, ignore the sensational news headlines and decide for yourself if that R100 is really going to be anywhere near your mind when you cross that finish line...
  11. It's a tough course... lots and lots of hills. Unless you are very strong on the hills, I would add 5% at least to your usual 21km pace. Recovery wise you should have enough time to get back near to 100% after Ride Joburg
  12. Agreed... change was definitely needed. Wenger was not doing a bad job, but he also wasn't going to win things. I must admit I worry my own club might well fall into the same malaise, where top 4 is the goal, but hopefully not... time will tell I guess. This next transfer window should show where our ambition is at.
  13. Good luck to everyone doing Soweto and Kaapsehoop... hope it's a cool one
  14. That Andrew is 'gone' - buried that fool. You will soon be seeing the well prepped, race respecting Andrew... it's the only way out of this mess I have made.
  15. I'm very motivated... did not enjoy being on the 'supporting' side last year. Just fighting my body at the moment. My back is doing much better, largely thanks to Waterpolo and not running, but I'm struggling to stay healthy - looking back I have probably been sick 50% of this year. Something is just not adding up. My doctor is running some blood tests now, so hopefully some clarity heading forward and hopefully the chance to get fit and healthy again... I'm desperate to say the least
  16. Enjoy... and yeah, hopefully some rain. It's hot out there! Hope Soweto are on top of their logistics this year as well... 40 000 people is a lot!
  17. Made a fun visi training shirt for the Soweto Marathon Expo this weekend... going to be a new experience for us. Who all is running? Two worries, this heat and then recovering from the Saturday Rugby - win or lose...
  18. Maybe Emery has been changed by Arsenal, when it was Arsenal that needed to change to a new way... It was what Poch did so well when he joined Spurs, we stopped being Spursy. Not that this season is much to go on
  19. If only we had gotten the Dybala deal over the line
  20. Some glimmers of the old Spurs last night... telling that Eriksen, Toby and Rose were all benched or left out completely. Top players, but rumored to be ruining the team dynamic... Poor opposition of course, Liverpool this weekend will be a lot more telling I guess.
  21. Yip Candz... do the Two Oceans, not the 'No Oceans' scrum
  22. The way things are at the moment... the 21km ODD may be the peak of my powers
