A friend on mine had a crash while hitting a hole in the middle of the path, a path that was completely covered by the massive amount of overgrowth. R40 a ride is more than most other rides so a little maintenance shouldn't be out of the question.

I see you guys mentioning protein. My question is what recommendations for protein shakes/suppliments would you have for pre and post cycles and what is the best for during? I would assume carbs during the ride instead of protein?

I rode a group ride this morning and I've never experienced so much respect and vigilance from motorists as I did today. It seems that the Burry tragedy and the exposure it received may have brought some much needed attention to cyclists. Whether it lasts is a whole different story sadly.

My two cents on these mass rides: 1. As mentioned by someone else already, these rides should be organised one per city by a more official means, such as by Burry's facebook page (which I presume is already the actual case) rather than there being a dozens of little rides with a small Ineffectual group in each. 2. Also, rather than angering motorists by blocking roads and causing tensions to rise, as cyclists we should actually try to use this tragedy to raise awareness to cyclists and our safety while at the same time honouring a cycling legend.

Rest in peace Burry, a great cyclist and more importantly, a great person!

Is it just me or has anyone found that Modderfontein is horribly overgrown of late? The guys seriously need to take a mower to some of that grass/weeds.

I have the Elixer 7 on my bike and although the braking is really good, they have squeeked/vibrated endlessly from the first time I rode the bike. I would never buy another set of Elixer anything!

The 29ers are being ridden in the bush by cyclists while the part time cyclists have their 26ers attached to the back of their cars, and it's there they will probably stay for their entire holiday.

Guys, quick question but I see this race is timed by Championship Chip, do we need to buy one of their chips to get an official time or will the Racetec chip work here?
