  1. If you can service their hubs, I'll give you a pair of 2011 SunRingle XMB rims (without rotors or tyres) in exchange for a 6-pack Klippies and Cola. I'm situated in Vereeniging if you want to collect them anytime. And I can give you a 2.25" tyre.
  2. Who is shop B?
  3. Their pricing for servicing and building is justifiable because of the attention and quality your bike would've received. I can vouch for their good work and can assure you they will definitely not try to rip you off. I think I overheard your conversation today while was in the shop as well, and you and the sales person were in fact polite :-). Regarding the 'cheap Chinese' products: I'm sure they bought those hubs in bulk from suppliers and have lots of stock which they would try to prioritize during sales. I also think they did their homework before buying those hubs to ensure they aren't crap, and get fed up if customers complain about the 'no-name' brands. But still, handing back the wheel to you and in effect losing a customer is a bit strange.
  4. "The Niner Air RDO is the best bike I have ever ridden" - Hans Rey 2014
  5. This Hub trial is larger than the Oscar trial, and looks like we are underway with the cross-examination phase. I nominate Dipslick as Judge.
  6. I've been waiting for so long just to post in this thread, and now, finally after 2 years of trail building I can do it. Our family farm's trails are complete with just over 15km of awesome riding.
  7. Ya, it does. Its probably the most climbing that one can fit into a half marathon distance! My ideal race would be similar to a Mt. Ventoux setup, with a 60 km route that you need to end off with the Sani Pass climb, with hundreds of supporters along the way.
  8. A race near Underberg that includes a climb up Sani Pass.
  9. There are some nice gravel roads through the Umlalazi Nature Reserve as well as the dirt roads zigg-zagging through the nearby sugar cane farms. But the nearest trails would be 70 km south to Holla Trails.
  10. Does the Zee crank set come with a chain guide, or which other chain guide? Cause a 'Rigid DH setup' sounds like a crazy bouncing chain mess. Edit: You answered before I could post the question
  11. As reading your post, I realized that I relate to every point. I also have the urge to go to the loo (or the nearest tree) more often during hot races. The worst is because I don't sweat so much, my face glows like a tomato and every rider that I pass, asks me: "Donner, is jy ok?" The only advice that I can offer that helps me is to climatise to a specific area a few days before a race. Even an intense 30 minute, midday ride a day before a race gives my body a shock wake up. Although I have no knowledge in the dermatology field, I'm sure a shock like that stimulates my sweat glands and pores, which allows for sufficient "fat crying. Hope it helps!
  12. The OP's question shouldn't be: "Which high end alu frame?" but rather : "Tamale Red or Licorice Black?"
  13. Jaco, have you ridden a 1x10 before in the WC? I'm sure there are much steeper mountains there as in Gauteng or Free State, but I have not yet needed a cassette larger than 36/11 (with 32 teeth chain ring). I did however adjust my riding style a bit and get out the seat more with slow steady pedal strokes, but never felt as if I "couldn't go anymore". I can't seem to justify spending +R2k on 4 sprockets.
  14. Sweet Race. Well done organizers and JCP Steel!
  15. This is going to be a very entertaining thread. Maybe a 50km/h side-wind and they were protecting each other?
  16. Really looking forward to this race! I didn't even know there are trails to the South East of Heidelberg
  17. An R8000 price gap is quite high and a bit unfair to compare those bikes. The xtc carbon 2 is priced somewhere between R20k and R23k and also a good alternative. The Syncra-Range leans more to a pure XC bike than the xtc does, so it depends what most of your racing consist of. If you are however willing to spend R28000+/- on a bike, check out the Syncra 1, it got a nice review in Issue 24 of Tread magazine.
  18. You just pitch up with your SAS board if I remember correctly, they will have your name on the system if you paid.
  19. @Tim_Fair Why has the half marathon been shortened to 40km from the regular 56km? @martinsnyman Cut-offs:At Suikerbossie - 10h30 At USN halfway mark - 11h55 (all riders must start before 12h00 at halfway mark) At German church refreshment station - 13h30 At Outlaws Bar - 15h00 At Finish - 16h30 Edit: copied info from website and messed up the format
  20. I'm also looking through various classifieds for a road bike between R3k and R6k. I am however not familiar with road Shimano groupsets. I'm assuming the quality and price order is: Dura Ace > Ultegra > 105 > Tiagra Would you guys consider a R5000 bike(2nd hand) with a 105 groupset as a bargain?
  21. Hey Zander The only trails nearby can be found on the vaalmtb.co.za website (under Local Routes). Some of them are public areas, and I would recommend not riding them alone. I mostly ride the gravel roads toward Visgat and Goeiehoek and a few areas along the Suikerbos River. The closest dedicated trails are Rietvlei and Thaba in Alberton.
  22. Make sure the cable and sleeve enter the 'shifter/lockout' in a perpendicular way, if the cable is skew or bent the cable is probably stuck and can't retract properly. Happened to me as well and I suggest a new cable or sleeve.
  23. How did they get in that scenario?
  24. Hey North Shore I don't have a season pass at Groenies, so I ride Klapperkop much more often. If you are keen on riding there sometimes, just pm me, I'd enjoy some company. I'm also still a student and have flexible times to go ride.
  25. Please don't give that troll more publicity. Most online opinion related articles are made just to get a reaction. Thread closed.
