  1. Wow, they sure were shredding it - that's for sure - those trails are in a sorry state right now. Hopefully the rains later this week will make things a little better.
  2. Yes, you, me and a co-worked of mine
  3. Not going to work. In the last batch 7C I did not see a single road bike, only MTB and some folks on those bamboo wooden look bikes.
  4. I stand corrected then, does raise the question what those two ladies were doing up there then.
  5. I'm keen to see how the trails look today, seeing as it is part of my daily commute home. There will no doubt be plenty of fine dust about
  6. I recall there was a shorter route for ladies? the 76km? Maybe they were part of that.
  7. Everything is a fun ride to me. What the sad events of this weekend has shown us that we should never be lulled into thinking there is no danger involved with cycling. Always keep that in mind and don't ride outside your comfort zone.
  8. Not sure, from what recall the rules are you may not ride twice as this will lead to disqualification? Obviously those who were offered the chance and paid for it is another story. But I would imagine if they pick up a rider on a 2nd lap without having paid for it there will be trouble.
  9. I saw on Strava flyby that at least one person did the 2nd lap without going through the proper start.
  10. Should be fine, used mine all this weekend and today.
  11. Twice around the Cape peninsula :
  12. I did not realise people lost their lives today. That is very sad. makes one think about how short live is... Very thankful to be alive and I feel so sad for the loved ones left behind by those who were less fortunate than me.
  13. What an epic day, felt so good to do a proper Argus again - might just be tempted to enter in 2019. Spectators where so engaging, you wave at them and the energy you get back makes you go faster. What a vibe! they were less inclined to that on the 2nd lap. All in all it's not my best - about 10 minutes off my 2016 time, got 3:11 on the 1st lap and 4:15 on the 2nd. Great to now have two of last years medals with #40take2 (which is exactly what I did)
  14. Well at least they already have their numbers for the UCI. My daily commute home goes through the trails at Coetzenburg an there were plenty of them riding there yesterday with their numbers already on the bike. Had to bail on the rest of my ride home through there as the course was already taped off. My ou toppie is going to get our numbers tomorrow, so I am spared that schlep
  15. Glad this was on a Saturday. The only thing I want to do Sunday mornings is nursing my hangover.
  16. The best part of the Argus...
  17. Awesome ride. I use that word and not race because despite starting in A I took it easy and enjoyed it. Good to see a few other people riding there and back on their bike, for me it's only 12km but I saw some people on Bottelary road riding back home and that is rather impressive. The route (60km) was perfect, lots of dust as is the norm. Although my pet peeve again, some people need to upgrade to flat pedals and not stop and unclip on the tight turns and rough climbs that are actually rideable. Cleats belong on the tar.
  18. Today? Coetzenburg. In the last 19months? 15,000km.
  19. Almost the same for me, but on a road bike that is converted to 1x8 with a MTB cassette and NW chainring. But definitely baggies and unshaven legs.
  20. Back in the days when I first did the 99er there were big signs saying "single file" as you got onto the N7. No one did that. So I think this has been a long time coming and I'll probably get flack for saying this, but I'm glad the N7 is out of the question. This years route was awesome, including the N7 part, but if they just tarred that section on Malanshoogte then everything will be OK.
  21. I did it in 2016 and it was loads of fun. I do regret opting to do it again in 2017, but I plan to get my moneys worth this year and then rage quit.
  22. There is also a tap to fill up after crossing Fischer Road : And a fountain that runs our of a pipe to the right of the Fish Eagle trail :
  23. Because Day Zero is a carrot on a stick. You never get to it.
  24. Damn, now that takes me back, I completely forgot that 99er was the first ever one I rode with my racetec chip. Now it is about 10 results away from being on page 3 of my results
  25. This is the first time Slent road was used. In 2014 the route was the proper 99er and it featured Malanshoogte road, which has a 2km section of gravel. https://www.strava.com/activities/111857764
