    Amashova 2013

I'm also a first timer this year.... i'm sooooo looking forward to the race!!!
  3. I was just checking out the drug free video on the CSA website yesterday, where there is also a recommendation to look for the "Trusted" certification. Well done to Biogen for delivering informed and safe supplements!
  4. So i took my bike to a different shop for a "second opinion" and to see what they recommend. The dude told me that they not only tighten the whole spoke, but rather loosen all of them and re-tighten the entire wheel. They also use some toffie like oil on the threads to keep it in place. Well that's all done now, so I recon the proof is in the pudding. He also mentioned that IF it comes loose again, then I must look at the rims as the fault would be rim related then.
  5. This is amazing!! Well done
  6. We're staying at Sun City for the weekend, which they offered to all cyclists at a reduced rate with meals included. So i guess i can't moan to much....
  7. I developed ITBFS... after a quick operation... problem solved
  8. Oh and dare I say... there aren't any goodie bags!!!
  9. Number collected at Fourways... roll on the weekend
  10. Damn, so it's not just a case of tightening a loose spoke. There is actually some major craftsmanship involved here. Well, i suppose a man's got to do, what a man's got to do... Get it to somebody that knows their **** and get it sorted properly
  11. So it looks like it's pedal your @ss off for 40km and then freewheel from there... sweet
  12. They are Aksium Race wheels with blade spokes. It's the original rims that the Cannondale came with
  13. Looks like I'm in B. Starting at 7:25
  14. I don't suppose you know of anybody? Otherwise I'll start asking around if anybody know of somebody (wheelbuilder) in my area of work or home.
  15. All they have is some dollie bird standing at the finish line and writing down numbers as the people finish... That's about it
  16. I did one race there before and the results were on the Stonehaven on Vaal website.... but.... only about 2-3 weeks after the race
  17. So I don't suppose a bit of lock tight would do the trick on the blade spokes
  18. Any advise on how to fasten a spoke/s in order for the damn thing not too come loose again? Two weekends in a row I noticed my front wheel starting to buckle on a ride. The first time around was close to home at least and I took it to my LBS to true the wheel again. Today the same thing happened and I'm pretty sure it's the same spoke. This time I stopped alongside the road and felt the spoke was loose again and I tightened it to get the rim straightened out again and continued my ride. This is so annoying and I would hate to think the amount of "French" words I would speak if this has to happen in a race.
  19. This would be awesome!!!!
  20. Any further updates on this store? Is it still opening?
  21. On training rides, the Jungle Oats energy bars work a charm and vary that off with banana or gels. During a race it's a different story, as i struggle to chew then. I make use of Ensure or LifeGain as a shake together with gels every so often. Never had a case of nausea or hunger pains
  22. I was also quite "muscle" packed not too long ago and was clocking in at about 97kg... Some training and the right eating habits had me saying hello to the 80's quite quickly. Now i'm 87kg which is getting really close to my ideal weight for my length. That is a saving of 10kg! Didn't cost R5000 Upgrading to lighter and better components on a bike is never a bad thing, but it costs a fortune... i just found that the most cost effective solution to have a lighter ride is to start with myself, and then look at the bike. I'm also starting to look around for carbon rims now. All things said above is my own opinion and own experience... just a thought
  23. I might be keen on this as well for some weekends... I won't be going every weekend, but every now and again will be excellent. Henley1 Are you still running with this and getting guys onboard?
  24. The only place to check road seeding that i know of is on the PPA website. You need to be a licensed rider though
  25. Me again, I prefer the frame piece at the bottom. I don't really like the feeling of the lens against my cheek
