  1. #STEELISREAL... Sorry, I couldn't resist the urge πŸ˜‰
  2. I think Shurter is just miffed because someone finally decided not to put up with his bully tactics and he came off 2nd best. As they say in the classics... Rubbing is Racing. Super impressed by Alan, you could hear in this post race interview that he's racing very maturely.
  3. Have you weighed the 2 bikes as a comparison? I realize you're not a feather weight but I chose the Orbea Oiz over the new Spark because it came in 2kg's lighter. That new Scott is a porker with that integrated shock.
  4. Ah okay, still a great job as those Colnago's are notoriously difficult to get matched up. He did a great job blending a nasty scratch mark on my Daccordi top tube as well.
  5. Did James do the airbrush work on this frame as well? If so, it's very impressive 🀩
  6. Downhill flow gets me going, I love a trail that keeps me engaged and sharp all the time.
  7. Just find yourself some rich, narcissistic cycling friends, they normally feel the need to exert their dominance and pay for everything, it's so much easier that way πŸ˜‰
  8. You guys can chat to Mark at Marks Bicycle Workshop in Bellville as well, he's started offering standard bike to ebike conversions with front or rear hub drive motors and his prices are pretty reasonable. I spent 2 weeks testing his personal mtb conversion and was very impressed with it. 100km+ gravel ride possible on a single charge πŸ€™
  9. Or we should start a "Go fund me" account to build a proper shred trail like they did at Berm Peak πŸ€™
  10. Go play at the new Polkadraai Pump track, it'll give you a proper workout πŸ€™
  11. Great win for Africa but... did MvdP get told to sit up through his earpiece? In the overhead he seemed to be closing then suddenly checks his pace... I'm just asking? πŸ˜‡
  12. Okay, let's be honest here. There's no way in this Universe (or any other for that matter), that you're going to convince ANYONE about that crank only doing 4 rides, unless all 4 rides circumnavigated the globe. You may have done 4 rides on it but someone else did a whole lot more. My advice is to take it back to whoever fitted it and take the matter up with them because no matter the distance and wear, it still shouldn't fail like that.
  13. Bought my C17 from them, great service from David πŸ€™
  14. Looks like you broke the crank axle, not the BB. The BB is the part that's in the frame. Are your BB bearings still spinning smoothly? Could you send a photo of the other side of the crank, I'd like to see what make/type it is?
  15. Gees, what a tragic turn of events. How terribly sad for a young and talent young woman to lose her life in such a brutal way 😧
  16. Another truly great L'Eroica event held this past weekend. The missus and myself thoroughly enjoyed our time in Montagu with like minded #steelisreal geeks and great, friendly and welcoming locals πŸ€™πŸ˜‰ The few old mates that I finally managed to persuade to join us after many years of encouragement are now totally hooked, they will be back for sure πŸ˜ƒ It's one of those events that just keep you coming back for more. I'll post a few more pics later in the week... and a video in a week or two but for now here's the bunch of drunkards I finished the ride with πŸ˜„
  17. I hope his cycling shoes aren't too damaged.
  18. My latest resto video of a little Panasonic DX3000 has dropped on YouTube for those interested:
  19. Yeah, often those pawls are just gunked up and need a good flush and light coat of oil. There's not really much that can go wrong in there.
  20. I'm seriously impressed with his ride, especially in such a stacked field. He's made a lot of people sit up and take note 🀩
  21. Fresh 28C's and a good service will make the world of difference... welcome to the Dark Side of Vintage Steel, lovely looking old Zini πŸ€™β˜ΊοΈ
  22. Thanks Ross, every little bit will help, these guys have the bare minimum as it is but at least they looking for honest gainful employment πŸ€™
  23. Hey guys, due to the nature of my hobby, I forever have garden engineers stopping by my garage and asking for old bike parts. Most of them are on really clapped out old 26ers (some even on 24's) and I can't really help out beside supplying old cables or housings as I mostly only have old vintage racing bike spares. If you have any old 26er consumables gathering dust please consider donating to the cause. I'm looking for the parts that commonly wear like cables, housings, brake block, used tires & tubes (most requested parts), brake levers & calipers, pedals, headsets, BBs (normal square taper) etc. None of it needs to be new, the stuff they currently have is normally destroyed so they're happy with the absolute minimum if it just allows them to continue riding around looking for work. I'll probably just throw everything into a big box and allow them to scrounge around as space for spares is an issue for me as well. It would be ideal if it's northern burbs in CT as I don't really want to travel around and spend too much time & money on this but I would also like to help if possible, Ta πŸ€™
  24. Lovely job πŸ€™ What saddle is that, it looks nice and comfortable?
  25. Oh awesome, yes I'm in De Oude Spruit area πŸ€™ Drop me your cell no and I'll make a plan to collect if they're not taken yet.
