  1. I'll take them off your hands, I'm forever looking for tires for my vintage projects. Drop me your details and I'll collect ????
  2. Good luck finding one of those locally.
  3. Reminds me of something my Colonel in the army once said to me while playing poker... "Ek het nie tyd vir armgatte nie" ????
  4. I'm on the motorbike again, as things stand, the crew is prepping for go time... but Squirrel has the final say I guess.
  5. Very much so, I'm on a mission to find myself one in a size 55cm ????
  6. A recently complete project. Sadly I recently discovered through Duncan Mac Intyre (who built Gemini bikes in SA), that this was not one of his frames but more likely a Hansom built with SLX tubing and sprayed to look like a Gemini. Either way, she still turned out a looker and rides rather well ????
  7. We'll need to know the frame tubing and condition of the bike to help give an idea of price.
  8. This should work fine for his needs surely? Needs a set of tires and some new cables.
  9. Cool, if something pops up I'll let you know ????
  10. I ordered today and they called me this afternoon saying they are starting another special later today where you can get 2 x bibs for R2999 and they don't want me to see the special later and then be bummed I missed it so they're offering it to me telephonically. Can't fault that at all. My order was shipped today as well ????
  11. You looking for a mtb or road bike? I'm guessing mtb if it's for commuting?
  12. Sorry about your experience but thanks for the heads up on the sale, just placed an order, seems the sale is still on despite them saying it ends on the 20th. Hopefully I won't be listing my complaint here in the next week or two ????
  13. I'd place it between 4-6K depending on the frame tubing and condition of the paint. Lovely bike by the way and it would be welcome in any vintage collection.
  14. Good luck finding your own spares as well... and catering for every eventuality that may happen.
  15. What's concerning me about the Epic is the other elephant in the room that no one is talking about... the availability of Bike spares ???? All they need is one or two days of good rain and you'll have a cluster f&$* of note happening because no one is carrying enough stock currently to handle a situation like that. Even in the good years, 2 days of wet weather caused total havoc with spare brake pads and drive chains. It's going to be interesting to see how it unfolds.
  16. @Loose cog should be able to help you out with reproduction SLR hoods
  17. Mark at Marks Bicycle Workshop in Bellville should be able to help you out. Alternatively, buy a small packet of bearings and dump the race and repack them loose.
  18. Very cool collection, I'm currently busy restoring a little Raleigh Sunbeam Dido like the blue one in your photo.
  19. I'd suggest you approach your LBS and get stock through them on a COD basis until you have built up a client base, as @Prince Albert Cycles was forced to do. There's a few smaller bike shops in the great CT area that operate like this as they just cannot afford the high "minimum stock" purchases from the suppliers.
  20. I found some at Evobikes some time ago, not sure if they still have stock though.
  21. Iconic route amongst us older WC riders, used to always be our prep route for the D/C back in the day. Back then we could safely cycle through SLP Village and come out at the corner halfway up SLP. Always keep an eye on the wind when going over the top. We had a very bad experience on that pass where the wind actually blew our bikes out from under us, forcing us to walk hunched over pushing the bike to try reduce wind drag. It the first time I've actually been scared of wind ☠️ Other than that, it really is an amazing route and well worth a crack ????
  22. Another "how long is a piece of string" thread... I love it. You're not comparing apples with apples because guys like The Idol and the Blonde Blitz were all competing during the apartheid era. Yes I know they sometimes raced over the waters under alias's but they were never allowed to compete openly against the best in the world for any extended period of time, like Robbie H did. Who knows what they might have achieved if allowed the freedom to take on the world. My first choice would be The Idol, (probably because I'm old school) and then it would be Robbie. Greg is in a class of his own, literally and figuratively so I'm not dumping him in the same basket. Ashleigh is awesome but no, I still don't think woman's cycling is close to being as competitive as the men field. It's improved incredibly over the years but it still has some way to go IMHO. A certain team with a 1,2,3 on a podium is an example of what I'm referring to (dons the flame suit). So maybe we should split this into the different cycling disciplines because it's like comparing Valentino Rossi with Ricky Carmichael.
  23. I have someone it CT that could laser weld that for you. Maybe do some research and find a Durban firm that could assist.
  24. I don't think you get RemoveAll anymore. I've been looking for it for ages.
