  1. Thanks to all who have donated so far, let's keep the momentum going and make a difference
  2. This Cypher really appeals to me, in terms of value for money, geometry and looks. I think it's going to be the replacement to my aging Anthem. I wonder what there stock levels are like?
  3. While you're there ask them if they do JIS screwdrives as well please Chris
  4. MOD EDIT: Details in the opening post
  5. I've got no problems running with that, I thought it would just be easier for someone up north. The bike doesn't need to be new either. Depending on the amount contributed, we could even buy a good secondhand unit from someone on BikeHub, that way more than one family benefits.
  6. Let's make this forum work for a greater cause. Is there anyway in the Randburg area that's willing to run a fund to gather money for this family so they can replace their stolen MTB? I'm willing to start with a R500 donation to get her husband mobile again. Admin, maybe you can assist here with the fund? https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/188228-stolen-scott-innovation-technology-bike/?do=findComment&comment=3772268 Mod Edit to include bank details: Thank you all for the feedback and commitment to contributions I'm pretty sure we can make this work and change a families circumstances so they can believe in humanity again I'm willing to do the fund collection and liaise with Linden Cycles. Can we set a deadline for any donations for Friday evening 8pm and then I'll take it from there? I'll keep everything as transparent as possible and post a list of all the donations on this thread. Please PM or email me if you'd like to remain anonymous. Please don't feel compelled to donate but do realise in situation like this, even a very small donation makes a difference to the collective pool. My email address is Buff@absamail.co.za Banking details: ABSA BB PARISH Cheque Acc Acc no. 711063528 Branch code: 632005 Please use Nyati and your forum name as reference and send confirmation to my email address
  7. Does the GCN app have the option of Casting to your TV?
  8. It was Live on youtube today so will probably tomorrow as well. You might want to turn down the sound though, those Arabs get excited.
  9. Okay, that could work for me as well... and also because I'm not fit & strong
  10. At my new favourite coffee stop at the end of Bottelary
  11. Why would a strong, fit person want an e-bike anyway?
  12. Interesting because I've seen a lot more hikers/walkers on the trails lately as well but I've let it slide as I know there used to be a dedicated hiking path over the top on the hills in years gone by. I must admit, I'd appreciate the option of being able to hike on BHC as well, even if it means paying a little more each year for the option of a dual permit system. While on that topic, what's the chances of offering riders the option of purchasing additional number boards at the beginning of the year. I currently have 3 bikes (dual, hardtail and gravel) and on any given day would like to pop onto the trails while out riding but it's a major schlep cutting cable ties and removing my number board to swop over to the bikes. Actually, the schlep is in remembering to do it. I've caught myself on the trail on my gravel bike and then suddenly remembering I don't have my board on and then I have to get off the trail before I get bust (just being honest here, my board is legit). A plan made in this regard will be much appreciated
  13. My recently completed Tommasini Prestige (Columbus SL tubing) that I built up as a Neo-Retro with a Shimano 105 groupset that I salvaged off a trashed TCR some time back. The chrome fork that was on it wasn't original so I replaced it with this carbon Percente that I used to run back on my Bianchi in my younger days. It took me one ride to fall hopelessly in love with it The plain seatpost bugged me so I did some work etching the Tommasini logo into it over the weekend, it suits the bike a lot better now. The only change now will be the saddle to something more period correct.
  14. This is my latest restoration, a pretty little Le Turbo. The frames were initially imported by Basil Cohen and then in later years manufactured by Gotti Hansen in SA. A video of this resto is also on youtube for those interested
  15. Mark from Marks Bicycle Shop in Bellville has 4 Orbea Occam (dual) frames up for sale at a very good price for anyone who may be interested. I think it's 3 x M and 1 x Small frame (plus shock).
  16. Here's my recent restore of a Le Turbo. I touch on the history in the video. https://youtu.be/fRmWDO0PNuU
  17. That's a base model Peugeot with really low end steel components on it. IMHO it's not worth more than R1000 despite being in good condition.
  18. That speedo on it alone is worth saving, those are pretty hard to find nowadays, especially in working condition
  19. It's bearings but it all depends on what bearing are in there. You can extend the life a bit longer if it's an old school cup & cone headset with fresh grease and turning your headset cups 90% so the self-centring effect is to the side. If it's sealed bearings, time to replace.
  20. Very neat & clever design The only downside I can see are those support legs, I'd be tripping over them all evening
  21. Anyone know of a supplier selling JIS screwdriver sets for a reasonable price?
  22. Try FB marketplace rather, some clean bikes still to be found there.
  23. Here's a link to a Classique in Tange 2 tubing that I restored at the beginning of the first lockdown:
  24. There were yes, but to be honest I'm not sure if those were made in SA or imported frames. The older Classiques used Tange 2 tubing (80's) and the later Classiques (90's) used Tange 1. But nothing was cast in stone back then. If they ran out of a specific tubing and there was delays in imports then they would build with whatever tubing they had in stock.
