  1. I've downloaded the App on my Mi box and watch through that on my TV
  2. Queen just sent me this pic of Ricky getting back from his first ride on his new bike. She recons he's blown away with it Nice kit as well
  3. A few more pics that I received from Andrew of the bike handover
  4. What more can I say on this thread? I'm humbled and honored to have been part of this experience. Sometimes our small drop in the ocean goes unseen but together we can make ripples and ripples can become waves and waves bring about change. You as BikeHub members & contributors and the wonderful staff of CycleLab brought about change in this small family's life. A change so big that I don't think you will ever realize its consequence or impact. It came at a time when it was most dearly needed and don't for a minute think that was a coincident, there was a bigger hand involved here as well. It has opened their eyes (and ours) as to what can be achieved when we give time, effort, love & blessings to our fellow humans. I sincerely hope that each one of you get blessed in your own special way. To Andrew & Matt, a huge thanks from my side, you guys took a huge load off my hands and did so much to make this happen. I honestly cannot thank you enough. To CycleLab... Just WOW. You guys went way beyond what was ever expected and played such a huge role in this blessing. Your bike and parts donation has allowed us to bless the Nyathi's even further with the balance of the cash collected To Martin... thank you so much for your generosity of the Insurance donation, may it never be required but what a great help it is And to the rest of you BikeHubbers... Respect, you guys stepped up to the plate and delivered big time  To the Nyathi's... Ricky, Queen and RJ, be blessed guys and when life affords you the opportunity, play this good deed forward and be the change in someone else's life IMG_8292.MOV
  5. I bet Armstrong wishes he was still around because whatever rock-fuel these guys are on it's Next Level Makes for great bike racing though so I'm not complaining
  6. Yes indeed, both Matt & Andrew are on the case regarding the bike and CycleLab have come on board to assist They're currently just ironing out the deal but hopefully MrNyathi will be pedaling come the weekend. In the mean time, an amount of R4500 was paid over to the Nyathi's on Friday morning. This allowed them to find alternative accommodation as they were asked to vacate the cottage they were renting in a family's back garden after the owners got divorced and sold the house. The Nyathi's have been hit hard with a few very unexpected twists and turns lately and this fund raiser could literally not have come at any better time for the young family. Thank you once again for all your assistance and generosity
  7. How good is that Yorkshire documentary, just wow !!!
  8. Take a look at my last post under the Build Project thread to see what can be done with and old classic
  9. Nope, still being a cheap skate and using iMovie on my phone I got those sent to me from a mate in Jbg but I see Brights Hardware Store now stocks them as well. These are the guys that make them though so maybe you can buy directly https://www.pferd.com/za-en/company/contact/pferd-south-africa-sales-and-distribution-offices/
  10. This was without doubt the best cycling event I've ever attended. The missus and I had an absolutely suberb weekend in Montagu and we're booked and ready for 2021. May it be just as good as last years.
  11. For those interested, the video on my Neo Retro Tommasini Prestige dropped on youtube last night
  12. Hi all, we got the ball rolling this morning with the settlement of the Nyati's outstanding debt of R5500 with their landlord for the bike that was stolen. Here's a "snapshot" of POP. If anyone would has contributued would like to see the full POP, please drop me your email address and I will forward it on to you Andrew is still on the hunt for a bike... they're getting sold before he can buy one
  13. The donations closed on Fri but it hasn't stopped you awesome peeps from continueing with the blessing. We received an additional R2750 yesterday so why stop now? That's taken the total to just over R20K If you feel led to bless this family then please continue to do so, whatever comes in later I'll just add to the list and deposit it directly into their account over the weekend. Thanks RobertWhitehead for your suggestion on the bike build but we're sticking with our decision for now on the Apex 29er, just as long as they still have stock and will be able to arrange insurance Thanks Matt for the kind offer of the socks & shirt, please chat to Andrew about delivery, maybe he can combine it with the bike handover MrNyati is 165cm tall so I'm guessing a Medium shirt is a safe bet, unless he's sporting a beer boep like me Gees guys, what you have done here is truly humbling. I'm sorry if I keep on saying it but I really am blown away. It's so refreshing to see the care shown for this family in these trying times, thank you all very much.
  14. Thanks all for the feedback. Andrew and I have chatted after reading MrsNyati's feedback and have come to a decision which we'll share a little later in the week Rest assured that we're taking the families best interests at heart and they'll be blessed out their socks Talking of socks, how about Versus making sock donation to the cause? Wonder if they do kiddies socks? ^_^
  15. I'm in CT so I can chat to Crown and get them to courier the bike up to Andrew and then he can arrange the handover However, finding a bike up North would mean a R500 saving on courier fees so that's first prize at the moment. If anyone has a contact at a bike shop up there, please make a call So far Linden and Cyclelab are out of stock.
  16. I chatted to MrsNyati about this last week and although her husband bought the bike as a commuter, he's really enjoying the cycling and even started riding recreationally on his bike. He just hasn't had the chance to join a cycling group yet. So a straight out commuter bike might not be the best solution in this instance.
  17. Morning all, an additional amount of R300 by SCARY RIDER cleared on Sunday and pushed the total amount to R17 500 Now we need to ask your help again... to find a bike Neither Andrew or myself have been able to find a Small 29er in Jbg or CT for under R12 000. It would seem that stock is an issue everywhere at the moment. I saw this little bike in the classified's today and it looks pretty neat, could it be viable option? https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/459205/scott-aspect-930-shimano-deore-components
  18. Sorry, those amounts were in a spreadsheet layout when I posted it.
  19. Are you guys ready for this? It's huge and you have all renewed my faith in humanity. Thank you ALL very much, you have honestly all made a difference in a family's life today The power of a collective just blows my mind every time I experience it and it does so much good. May there come a time in your own lives when you are all blessed enough to be on the receiving end of such generosity Here's a breakdown of all donations received. If I've left anyone out, please PM message me so I can double check my statement but as of a few minutes ago, this is what's cleared in my account: Nyati Bicycle Fund Raiser Buff 500 Eddy 500 TheoG 500 FONDTF2 250 Annon 500 Patch 500 ZEBRA 200 AdamA 300 ChrisF 500 Cappi 300 Annon 200 BIKEALOT 100 Schalkvan 750 Annon 500 FROSTBITE 500 TOMIK 250 NixM 1000 Edge-Design 1000 MATT 300 NICKGM 400 Myprodoll 500 Red Robin 350 DARKO 500 Djuice 400 Annon 500 Hopefield 300 Annon 500 BUTTERBEAN 300 CHAINSAW 250 LeChatnoir 300 WHUYU 200 MUTTLEY 1000 Annon 200 justbrowsing 500 BigDL 1000 amr63 250 ASTEER 250 Bomberman 350 Annon 500 Total 17200 Yup, you read that right... 20. Just a reminder that the fund raiser is closing this evening at 8pm so if anyone else would like to contribute then please make the deposit today so I can consolidate everything over the weekend Andrew has kindly offered to pop into Linden and chat to Jonene personally. MrNyati is around 165cm tall so I'm thinking a Small 29er will be the perfect size for him (his stolen Scott appreared to be a Small as well). Thanks again everyone, this is going to be special
  21. Hi Andrew, I was about to call Jonene and discuss this but I feel a one on one meeting will be so much more personal and beneficial so if you are able to do this it would be much appreciated. Please drop me a whatsapp and we can discuss it. My number is 072six07three477. I've chatted to MrsNyati and they had just bought the bike from their landlords son so they have quite a steep outstanding debt of R5500 to settle. My thought is that we chat to Jonene, see what bike is available as a suitable replacement within our budget (it's a commuter), get it insured for a year, maybe buy a helmet and gloves and then pay the family the balance to assist in settling their current bike debt. Please let me know how you all feel about this arrangement. She mentioned that her husband has no idea this is happening, she's kept it from him for it to be a surprise so I'm sure he's going to be blown away with all the generosity shown here. She also said he'd be able to pop into Linden Cycles once we've arranged everything so maybe they can do a bike fitting for him on site to ensure the correct size?
  22. Morning all... so are you all ready for this??? Total amount cleared so far = R12 500 ... and more to come I'm sure as ABSA is on a go slow on payday week. How freaking awesome is that? Thank you all so much for your contributions to this cause, this will allow us to replace the bicycle and possibly do a bit more as well. You're all Rock Stars
  23. Morning Peeps, great news is that the fund is up to R5100 that has cleared with more still coming in. Thank you so much for your generosity shown towards the Nyati family... "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade"
  24. Thank you all so much, there's currently an amount of R2950 that's been cleared in my account from the donations
