  1. This is my latest restoration, a pretty little Le Turbo. The frames were initially imported by Basil Cohen and then in later years manufactured by Gotti Hansen in SA. A video of this resto is also on youtube for those interested
  2. Here's my recent restore of a Le Turbo. I touch on the history in the video. https://youtu.be/fRmWDO0PNuU
  3. That's a base model Peugeot with really low end steel components on it. IMHO it's not worth more than R1000 despite being in good condition.
  4. That speedo on it alone is worth saving, those are pretty hard to find nowadays, especially in working condition
  5. Very neat & clever design The only downside I can see are those support legs, I'd be tripping over them all evening
  6. Anyone know of a supplier selling JIS screwdriver sets for a reasonable price?
  7. There were yes, but to be honest I'm not sure if those were made in SA or imported frames. The older Classiques used Tange 2 tubing (80's) and the later Classiques (90's) used Tange 1. But nothing was cast in stone back then. If they ran out of a specific tubing and there was delays in imports then they would build with whatever tubing they had in stock.
  8. Mirage was second from the top, Le Mans, Rapport and Sting were under it. Galaxy above the Classique but that came later. I raced a Classique for a few years as well early in the 90's, running Suntours 8 speed Accu-shift system.
  9. I'm really hoping this happens, it was the hilight of 2020 for me. Okay, I realise that doesn't say much considering the year we had but it was certainly one of, if not THE BEST event I have ever attended
  10. For those keen to see how I used acid etching to achieve a pantography type engraved look on an old stem, take a look at my latest video
  11. It's in good nick so I think you'll be able to get closer to R2000-R2500
  12. I'm looking for a 10 speed SLX or XT right change shifter if anyone has one lying around (with the clamp). Noticed yesterday that mines about to call it a day.
  13. Looks great but I'd certainly try and clear coat that frame, especially staying so close to the coast.
  14. I pulled the trigger on one of these recently on Takealot. So far I'm extremely please with the quality it delivers. Phillips bought out Saeco some time ago and the quality looks good. Time will tell how it holds up.
  15. I also recently restored this beautiful Colnago Super for SA legend Conrad "The Caveman" Stoltz. Here's the Youtube link for those who may be interested... sorry, it's a lengthy vid. https://youtu.be/ObLPEcP8Pok
  16. I recently finished the restoration of this Peugoet Rapport as well. I resprayed this ones frame with rattle cans (it took to attempts to get it perfect ). Part 2 of the resto video will drop on youtube this weekend.
  17. Been a while since I've posted some updates but things have still been happening in the garage. I expanded my little operation by buying a vinyl cutter and setting my 16yr old daughter up with a sideline business making vinyl decals to earn pocket money and cut my own for the restoration projects. Here's some of the work she's done so far... with Dads help of course
  18. Drop us a photo or two please shmuelyosef.
  19. I've been on the Wilddogs adventure biking forum for as long as I can remember and they obviously suffer with the same issue. Their solution was to allow users to unsubscribe from sub-forums e.g. Politics & Religion. So you essentially block what you don't want to see. The users will then see none of the posts from that thread at all. I found it worked great for my needs.
  20. That looks totally sick. How the heck did he get that rear wheel into those chain stays? Some cold steel tubing compression?
  21. Understandable, I'm a father as well so let's put it this way... at 19 some of us were running through the Angolan bush in full battle gear in 40 deg heat for weeks on end and we survived to tell the story. Youngsters are tough and resiliant, with the right encouragement and race planning I think he might surprise you
  22. He's 19, not a kid, he'll be fine if your race hydration strategy is solid.
  23. Good grief, the story of the car is simply unbelievable, talk about being over regulated
