  1. I'm sure we were, it's about young boys still!!! Every thread has ended up in the gutter in some way, shape or form, but notice how all the threads have just increased in lenght.
  2. Isn't that what I said? No, no, no, not all! What you're proposing is mixing 2 techniques they are very seperate! I think I need to change my hair color back to blond, I'm liking the Gauteng guys solution better, you bring your own beer, we'll just come naked. Isn't that just so much simpler, why complicate the matter even more??
  3. Isn't that what I said?
  4. So from all the threads thus far I have come to the conclusion that the criteria to get the guys from the Cape you have to: BRING BEER GET THEM DRUNK Oh and do this while being NAKED Man you okes are easy, don't you all wanna move to joburg, the girls here will be all over you!!
  5. Hi Y'all Ok for those of you in Gauteng ..... I am introducing a friend of mine to this lovely sport of ours on Saturday morning. We are going for a slow, easy, 50km ride at about 6:30 in da Soufh, we meet at the Panorama Shopping Ceter at 6:15. And we are doing the Lido Route which is very easy. This will be for new people, those who aren't so fit and maybe partners who want to start but don't want to ride with their spouses who are experienced riders. We will be taking the slow guys out and then we will doing another 50km thereafter at a faster pace. There will also be another group of us (about 8) going out again on a 70 - 80km ride in the same area on Sunday which will be a bit faster, but will also make a dicision on route to see if we wanna go farther or not. So if you wanna join us PM me and let me know, so I know how many people to wait for.
  6. Hey Pantani If you want to give them away, I'll take them off your hands!
  7. Epoh - Take the wheel to Linden cycles there is a guy there who is really good at re-building wheels. He did a friend of mine's racing tandem wheels as they use to snap spokes often. I didn't hear him complain about the wheel after that! Ask Slowpoke what his name is, she knows the guys there well.
  8. Token - Last year I rode as hard as I could, I went out every weekend and did about 150km a weekend (for someone who had only been cycling for 2 months that alot ok, so no grief about it) then rode through winter at the same pace and from end September through to the weekend before the 94.7 did a race every weekend. The race I did the weekend before the 94.7 I just had nothing in me. I had to stop and throw up, I felt like I couldn't turn the pedals, I had to phone my buddies to come fetch me (push me to the end). I just had NOTHING!!!! Everybody told me that I had over trained and that I should do nothing that week, not even walk up the stairs at work. I had written off the 94.7. But it worked, I had an awesome 94.7. SO for me overtraining is probably just when your body says enough, I need a break and I felt it when I just kept pushing but had no power to push. my 2c worth.
  9. That is tragic!!! Rubbish the guy didn't know he hit something, how can you not see and feel you hit a person and a bike, that's absolute rubbish!!!! My brother was involved in a hit and run about 11 years ago on his way to hocckey practise, the guy got away and thank God my brother survived was it not for a cop that drove past this kid walking on the side of the road with blood gushing out of his head and him pushing a mangled bike. He had total amnesia (spelling???) and had no idea who or where he was. He has never gotten on a bike since and hates the fact that my dad and I ride. And it is such a pity because he has the most unbeleivable natural talent on a bike ever!!! This man should get sent packing for murder cause that's what it is, It's only an accidetn if you stop and help and phone the ambulance and do everything you can to save the kid's life and then show some remorse!!!! Now I'm just pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know!!!!!!! lots of lonely cyclists out there ..... clearly. I think we should set up a ride for all these people, the requirements are simple. bring your bike, show up naked and bring beer!!!

There is clearly a great need on this topic
  12. I heard eating within the first hour was the best thing to do in order not to pick up weight, cause your body uses the food to replace what it has used?????
  13. Thanks Babe!!! Found a loop-hole in the system. Until I get caught, can't stay on for long though, just checking in every now and again!
  14. I am happy to say that I had a good experience with a cyclist on the road this morning on my way to work. This guys was riding a really old bike and you could see the kit and everything wasn't top or close to top off the range, but he was coming into Sandton drive off William Nicholl (from Hyde park side) and needed to move over 3 lanes of traffic to get into the left. He signaled properly and I slowed down to let him in front of me, to my left was a taxi and I was thinking 'Oh crap buddy!!!!' BUT NO!!!!!! The taxi slowed down and let the guy in (because he signaled politely and didn't push in), he then gestured (spelling??) and yelled thank you to both of us!!! Nice guy and if I see him again, I'll make a point to let him in through the sandton traffic.
  15. Hey MichH What about that other chicky we spoke about with the dwang BF, she can go ride with SP then she won't be the only Fembot!!!!
  16. Ahwe man, I'd love to join you, but aside from the bruises I'm sporting from doing the green route on Sunday, I have a terible cold/flu (whatever) and it's gone into my lungs again, so I'm afraid no riding for me for a couple of weeks. Else you guys won't be picking me up along the route you'd pick up a lung I'd lost along the way...... eeeewwwww (ok I just grosed myself out) And SP is correct in saying I might be an amateur cyclist but I'm a professional falling cyclist!!!
  17. Hi Whafe As Bruce said there is alot of MTB in that area, and if you are willing to drive a short distance there is two places to go do mountain biking, one is called Logwood and is more for the technical fundies and the other is Northern Farm which is more XC riding. Placed in that area you are pretty close to alot of rides that cyclist (such as the guys and gals on the hub) are always organising. You might just have to drive to meet everyone somewhere, but most of us do that in anycase from all directions. When you get here the best thing to do is probably join a club or else keep watching the hub for rides.
  18. Hey you guys doing your second lap, feel free to help us "amateur" cyclist along when you come by on your second lap. You guys will probably do two laps faster than some of us does one!! So really ....... I don't mind!!!
  19. Hi Jedi MichH is right, come ride with us we have lots of fun. I can change a tube but I am very slow in doing so, so I opted to buying tubes that are maybe a mm thiker than normal tubes. They are made by Kenda and are about R40 each. I have had them on for almost a year now and not one puncture!!!! Now I know I'll get blasted by the weight fundie's about the extra weight but the reality is that those extra grams might make me a couple of minutes slower overall, whereas taking 15 mins to change a tube is alot worse ........ besides I'm not planning to kick cherry's butt any time soon. (maybe like in my next lifetime) SO till then I'm happy to have those extra few grams and pass all the guys hectically fixing puntures. (Granted they will pass me again once they have fixed it)
  20. Good Luck to the Disabled SA Cycling team, leaving on Thursday to compete in the World Champs in Switserland!!!! Our own Trackie will be there, so before we don't see you post again for the next two weeks - Good luck to you and Gav- go kick some overseas butt!!!!!!!
  21. Ok guys and girls got my entry, done !!! Now I can't chicken out DR - Won't you please PM me the details of the train operator you guys are using, we might as well all go on the same one and have an absolute jol!! P.S. Anyone done it before with a hangover? ...... I'm thinking this is where we're headed. Yeeeehaa!!!
  22. I just entered, took me 15mins
  23. Cricky --- noooooo thank you, I have enough trouble getting my normal bike along with my sorry but over the hills. On this thing it'll take me till next year Xmas to finish.
  24. OK just spoke to the girls and we are definitely doing it. Hey DR, we might be doing the train thingy as well, sounds like there might be a few of us. This is going to be fun!!!
