  1. I would gladly help you if you don't mind me sending it via courier. Budget figure? I am the same length and has my setup dialed in with short stem and wide bars. sent you a pm
  2. 30 front and 11-36 in the back. Spin out on 37km/h but still have a bail gear if the day gets tough. No chain guide on NW chainring up front
  3. Iwan i can see you posting this is not going to go down well
  4. I can quickly find out for you just to make 100% sure
  5. I know people that stay on that road. You actually pass their house on the way and then only go thru the farmers yard. As far as he is concerned it is a road anyone can travel. he uses it every day to work and back. We have cycled that route to Paarl many a day and even passed the farmer while having a braai and not a single who ha. I think is fine...!
  6. On the left hand side you can see a fairly large crack on the steering tube. Comes from over tightening stem bolts and with not enough meat to clamp on when the stem was fitted. Funny enough the owner had his bike serviced at a number of big bike shops in cape town and nobody seem to have picked up on this. Makes you think......
  7. Copper slip is something used to prevent things seizing. Using it on the seat post might even help it slipping. Try replacing the quick release bot with normal bolt or carbon compound for slip if the frame is carbon.
  8. The seat post only slides into the top securing point so you can just pull it out. Just the bottom that has the lock
  9. Will saw of the bottom of the seat post where it fits the lock. Pin will drop out the other side and the seat post will be free and everything else back to where it has to be so i can peddle away No thief though but technically it makes sense
  10. Rouxtjie cant remember if i spoke to you last time. You happy with quick release or thru axial?Do you mount your wheel cups against carbon or aluminium?
  11. Gents if this has been answered sorry for asking a answered questions. 1. On flyxii website is see some of the frames have curved top tubes and some straight...Any reasons why? 2. Are the frames all the made in UD matt or gloss finnish or do they come in 3k as well. 3. Which one of the 2 types curved or straight is better or is it only preference? 4. Between flyxxi , carbonality , hongfu, aliexpress and who ever else has the best quality overall. 5, Do i need to go thru axial in the rear or should i not worry about flex? I have seen some frames where the rim cones has slightly damaged the carbon. any one of these guys do aluminium sections where the wheel slips in too as well as where the chain goes over the frame before it meets the crank? All of these things are things that i've noticed on my own carbon fs and would not like to repeat my mistake even though it is a hard tail. Sorry for all the questions but i would really appreciate it if you could give your recommendations please. Thanks all the clever people
  12. I have a pair of specialized xc pro shoe with carbon sole. Also flat feet as well. They gave me a bit of discomfort on the sides of my feet in the beginning but just released the buckle and straps ever so slightly and kept riding. What i did find is that when i washed them the instruction manual said that you should squash news paper in them to absorb the damp and keep the shape. Since i've been doing that i have never had any issues with discomfort with these shoes at all. probably the best shoes i have ever had....
  13. If you want to polish your frame rather not use the sandblasting option. Sand blasting leaves small pit marks in the frame surface which you need to polish out later. Use paint stripper and some elbow grease my friend. Only way
  14. Had the issue with my FS frame i bought... How ever took it to engineering shop to re machine the pivot bushes and to bring the tolerances closer. Everything's running like a top. No more flex. But yes the carbon frames do have more flex.. If you can or have the option go for thru axial and more secure quick release systems. Road bikes are another story

  16. You will mount your shock with the lockout showing down. Make sure that the seller gives you the shock bushes with the shock. Everything should slip in perfectly. Just remember that this shock does not have a remote lock out adapter fitted so your twin lever sistem will not work as it is now
  17. My scott had a dt swiss shock as well and my replacement was a rock shox morarch. No remote lockout but my frame has all the cable routing to be able to do that. Scott also has the same routing so in theory it should fit just fine.... Post the link to the shock so we can just make sure if you don't mind.
  18. You measure from hole to hole where it gets mounted. As far as i know you have a 165mm shock eye to eye. So your replacement shock sould be the same.
  19. http://www.maizey.co.za/ Maizey Plastics in cape town Paarden Island. If they cant help you with what you need they should know who can
  20. Its funny how something so small could have saved this man a lot of grief. Even saved him from having to vent on the hub........But then if he did not vent he would not have received this response....Always so much issues where as if he fixed his buckle from day one all of this would have been sorted
  21. Sorry to high jack this thread but i had a similar problem only with a GPS unit...(will not mention the brand). My first unit was 9 months old and started fogging up behind the screen which ended up calling it quits. Phoned the suppliers and they would take a look if i courier it to them. COOL...done! So 3 weeks later received a phone call to say my package is on its way with new unit. Happy days.....But 13 months later same story but only this time my unit did not charge neither would it switch on. So sent it back. I received a phone call again. This time from the technician. Sorry sir we can not repair it and its out of warranty....You can however pay R800 for a replacement unit and we will send you one again.....Needles to say, what happened to the 2 year warranty per unit and why would i let myself be burnt again with the same product and be R 800 bucks out of pocket....? Thanks but no thanks. The unit is still by them and they can keep it for all i care...Bought a R 500 jobby and works just fine. I have been saying it for a while now...Customer service in this country is a complete F@#$% up. Bottom line..People who have successful businesses are the ones who place their customers first because they are the ones that keep the doors open. AS long as he or she walks out the door with a smile he or she will always come back to support you. Place them above your own personal gain and you'll make a success of anything regarding retail. Just my 2cents
