  3. Same here with the ego , but my 39*23 hurts a bit on this Gallic country roads that go straight over the "bumps" and thinking about alternatives that dont include less Guiness Ooops, I meant 53/39, not 53/46! I used to have a 39-25 as my best spinning option, but adding just one extra tooth for a 39-26 makes a big difference. Chuck on a 27 and you don't need a compact! Seeing that you're older than me you could always go for a tripple funny bliksem

  9. Bicycle polo was invented (1891) by Richard J. Mecred in Ireland, dont know if that is good or bad But anyhow, the Bicycle Polo Association of Ireland is hosting the European Championship this weekend. We went to spectate today, and it look like al lot more fun than what it may sound. -And actually less dangerous than the bats used in hurtling Spokes as thick as 5mm round bar. Rider size, err... that is bigger, does matter in this game, so mountain goats, keep away for once Some pics: You'r not allowed on the field if you dont demonstrate the skills: Tradisional horse: Modern horse: Hold your horses: Knights, start the game - attack: The combat: (The Irish in Lance blue vs the French) The french team is build around one oke, he can pick up the ball at full speed and keep it bounching on his bat while doding all the defenders, pretty impressive... Here he is hiding the ball with his body, while bounching it: more reading: http://irishbicyclepolo.wordpress.com/ More pics of the actual bikes and components: http://picasaweb.google.com/gert.conradie/20090424_PhoenixParkPolo?authkey=Gv1sRgCOaGm4C56OH0fw# straatvark2009-04-25 17:21:43

  15. Thanks Splat, I'm in Dublin for a 2+ year period, so I should be removed from the list.
  16. JB, maybe start a thread specific for the course dates, which you bump at specific "days to go" periods, for example a month & 2 weeks before the course. To everyone struggling with the quality of wheels build for them - I can strongly recommend the wheel building course. It save exreme frustration and is worth every cent with return on peace of mind!
  17. Thanks for the pics R&R! Silverboy - would some of the footage be available on the web as well?
