  1. I cant answer you, but to show the importance: I can truly say that the thing I miss most is my workshop, tools and space. Because I'm not fully workshop-enabled here I asked a car workshop to press a stuck bearing from a suspension axle - the result was an damaged axle. I wish you could here me talk in Afrikaans when i picked up my parts! (the stuck bit of the bearing, well still stuck) Thanks to Summit Cycles I got a replacement axle JB, thanks for confirmation. I also though afterwords that I made a mistake and should have gone the kit route rather. Also that my hard tail is much cheaper/easier to maintain than the missus's Spez
  2. Now that is a reasonable price. [/quote'] I agree - if I take into account what I paid for two spherical bearings. Morewoodkit, a request: I could not found a list/pic of the parts/bearings etc that are included in kits like this when one order online. It would be nice if you can included picture of parts or list in your marketing material. If you are not a LBS that do this order every week, it helps with the confidence that you will get what you need. Especially if the kit are listed for a range of models. EDIT: fixed the grammar straatvark2009-07-28 02:52:35
  3. That look like good prices. Let us know if you use them
  4. Dunman I contacted Spez in UK for the correct bearing numbers last month when the ref numbers & dimensions of the original supplied bearings did not match bearing catalog ref numbers & dimensions. I did not need the full kit, just two specific bearings. (the reason is a different story ) I have the email address of the technical person that responded on my request with the correct bearing reference numbers, just PM me if you are interested. I was a bit "shocked" what the bearings cost me at the end of the day. I assume it is because I payed in Euros and don't know the right places to shop here (yet) Hopefully Bearing man can sort you out.
  5. I'm going to order myself one - birthday in AugustThe missus is coming to SA (CT) 1ste week in August and this is small to pack so let me know. Ag ou Varkie' date=' sy gaan nie dalk 'n pr?m met 44cm K-wing handlebars in stoot nie, gaan sy? [/quote'] - If you can retrieve it from CT, PM me Not to piss on anyones fires, but be careful of customs at CT. My mom came over a few months back and customs searched her - 1st time in 29 years that she has been coming back to SA (she lives in OZ). She was fined for bringing in too much booze - if only they new that the extra litre of scotch was finished before I even got her to Somerset West ( and I was not the one drinking) thanks, you are right, will keep the within the legal monetary limits. The rulers is perfect with size and price for that.

  9. Because CPT in winter is the same as Dublin in the summer
  10. The Ireland Bike to work Scheme (separate from the UK) started Feb 2009. The employers start to implement the admin required now, with a bike shortage. Delivery delay of weeks for specific bikes. 12. Well said!! judging by the number of posts' date=' i.e 22 000 odd vs 2600 odd.....who is the one talking crap all of the time??? Come on guys, this is a technical forum....keep it that way!!! Holy, start a new thread in Chit chat if you want to explore the finer nuances of language use, warranty voiding, JB's personal attributes.... I started reading this topic because I wanted to know more about gear cables, housing and the effects of dust & mud....NOT this chit chat crap!! Like the dude says in the Windhoek advert..."keep it real...." [/quote'] maybe you should read how the thread started? And what is you answer to that question? yes/no/I'm unsure
  13. Reinforcement is not to protect the cable. Think about the exposed sections of cable on MTB etc.
  14. daardie is mo*r skerp
  15. now this is sad GBU: You cant get new one, it is taken off, send to the UK and serviced in a pressure tank. It would cost E300! I'm out of words.... will have to think on this one. Another reason to stick to my GT hardtail
  16. FOX Racing Shox FLOAT R with Brain Technology. The missus's Specialized 'Brain' started to leak oil while transported (boxed by myself in a cycling box as one would for a flight) in the container. The leak continued after the bike was assembled and hanged in the store room. It now stopped - probably empty I assume that the oil is from the 'Brain', because the Fox "Float R" is air based shock. I will go to the dealers here, but did anyone else experienced this? If yes, did you serviced the 'Brain' or replaced it? ps, here some Fox service videos (I call it sideshows ) http://www.foxracingshox.com/fox_tech_center/service_videos.htm straatvark2009-06-11 10:22:52
  17. Compression required? Put reality to "stay on TOP of your wheels"

  19. In preparation (last minute) for the Wicklow 200 next weekend, we used the long weekend here to do the "Beara way", also known as the "Ring of Beara". If you plan to cycle in Ireland - this would be it. (currently, will update as I get more educated ) We used Glengariff as base camp and played with combinations of the mountain/coastal routes for 3 days. Instead of attempting to describe my weekend euphoria/afterglow, let me post pics: Below, the fuchsia flower sign is the "Ring of Beara" (http://www.bearatourism.com/cycleroute.html) that we did. It form part of the "Beara-Breifne Way", the knight sign (http://www.beara-breifne.ie/cycling.php) Almost no traffic: Not a flat coastal route: Healy Pass (freaky number of switchbacks - give it a constant gradient): Dursey Island: Swim along the way, wetsuite recommended, but gets better the more you do it: Some company: straatvark2009-06-02 16:53:20
