  1. now this is sad GBU: You cant get new one, it is taken off, send to the UK and serviced in a pressure tank. It would cost E300! I'm out of words.... will have to think on this one. Another reason to stick to my GT hardtail
  2. FOX Racing Shox FLOAT R with Brain Technology. The missus's Specialized 'Brain' started to leak oil while transported (boxed by myself in a cycling box as one would for a flight) in the container. The leak continued after the bike was assembled and hanged in the store room. It now stopped - probably empty I assume that the oil is from the 'Brain', because the Fox "Float R" is air based shock. I will go to the dealers here, but did anyone else experienced this? If yes, did you serviced the 'Brain' or replaced it? ps, here some Fox service videos (I call it sideshows ) http://www.foxracingshox.com/fox_tech_center/service_videos.htm straatvark2009-06-11 10:22:52

  5. In preparation (last minute) for the Wicklow 200 next weekend, we used the long weekend here to do the "Beara way", also known as the "Ring of Beara". If you plan to cycle in Ireland - this would be it. (currently, will update as I get more educated ) We used Glengariff as base camp and played with combinations of the mountain/coastal routes for 3 days. Instead of attempting to describe my weekend euphoria/afterglow, let me post pics: Below, the fuchsia flower sign is the "Ring of Beara" (http://www.bearatourism.com/cycleroute.html) that we did. It form part of the "Beara-Breifne Way", the knight sign (http://www.beara-breifne.ie/cycling.php) Almost no traffic: Not a flat coastal route: Healy Pass (freaky number of switchbacks - give it a constant gradient): Dursey Island: Swim along the way, wetsuite recommended, but gets better the more you do it: Some company: straatvark2009-06-02 16:53:20

  9. Same here with the ego , but my 39*23 hurts a bit on this Gallic country roads that go straight over the "bumps" and thinking about alternatives that dont include less Guiness Ooops, I meant 53/39, not 53/46! I used to have a 39-25 as my best spinning option, but adding just one extra tooth for a 39-26 makes a big difference. Chuck on a 27 and you don't need a compact! Seeing that you're older than me you could always go for a tripple funny bliksem

  14. Please dont believe all this Europe spring, sun, fun *** stories. - Ireland put out its best weather for my club spin yesterday - almost freezed and wet to the bone. Note to self - never EVER cycle without rain jacket here ok, today was nice, marchalled at a corner for arace that our club presented.
  15. Bicycle polo was invented (1891) by Richard J. Mecred in Ireland, dont know if that is good or bad But anyhow, the Bicycle Polo Association of Ireland is hosting the European Championship this weekend. We went to spectate today, and it look like al lot more fun than what it may sound. -And actually less dangerous than the bats used in hurtling Spokes as thick as 5mm round bar. Rider size, err... that is bigger, does matter in this game, so mountain goats, keep away for once Some pics: You'r not allowed on the field if you dont demonstrate the skills: Tradisional horse: Modern horse: Hold your horses: Knights, start the game - attack: The combat: (The Irish in Lance blue vs the French) The french team is build around one oke, he can pick up the ball at full speed and keep it bounching on his bat while doding all the defenders, pretty impressive... Here he is hiding the ball with his body, while bounching it: more reading: http://irishbicyclepolo.wordpress.com/ More pics of the actual bikes and components: http://picasaweb.google.com/gert.conradie/20090424_PhoenixParkPolo?authkey=Gv1sRgCOaGm4C56OH0fw# straatvark2009-04-25 17:21:43
