  1. Please don't take this the way it probably sounds, but what is the general reaction from friends and family and colleagues and/or people you know when you approach them asking for money so that you can ride you bike for seven days? I'm seriously just intrigued, because if my mates were to come to me with that I'd think they were yanking my chain.
  2. Where the heck is that trail?
  3. Any reason you didn't just opt for the more trail orientated shimano's as opposed to a full blown DH pedal?
  4. What you end up paying?
  5. With who is the climate so upset?
  6. Jou Stumpy is 'n niner mos?
  7. Heinrich, wat het jy op jou Stumpy tans? Ek gaan nou Prgatory Grid met Butcher gaan.
  8. Few things been bugging me on the Hub and apologies for doing it on this thread: I guess the point is this is a "private thread" so whilst I also don't like the colour combo (my own bike is red/black and I'm over it) I don't come TO the thread for the sole purpose of slamming the guy's idea's. Same way I feel about PYGA's. I like the bikes but I find it hilarious how everyone pretends it's still a boutique brand and love slamming other "Big Brands". They're everywhere. For good reason. They're great quality bikes. Doesn't mean that the R60k you pay for your build is not the same R60k someone paid for a "big brand" bike. Same way I feel about some people on the Hub (and this very thread) who feel the incessant need to go to someone's "Look at my new bike" thread and tell them how often their own one broke or how much they hated it. That's not being helpful. That's going to a kid's birthday party, looking at his new bike and promptly telling him how sh*t it is. To Ben Graham: Build your own damn bike and spray it whatever the hell colour you want.
  9. Got myself a Purgatory Grid 2.3 which is on the back and putting a Butcher on the front today. My HD's snakeskin rear (Trailstar) litterally ripped apart on Firehut yesterday. Overshot a jump onto a rockgarden and ripped a solid hole on the tread. So glad I had an excuse to chuck that thing in the bin. Nicht wieder!
  10. Duane and his missus (not Karl) I believe...
  11. Contact Alpine Addiction (Duane or Karl) to get the ball rolling. Neither of them are on the Hub as far as I know. Go to http://www.sa-alpine-addiction.co.za
  12. They're bringing out a Grid option which will have beefed up sidewalls. Plus the DH casing Butcher is pretty solid.
  13. Zore world whip-offs
  14. Who'd you order from?
  15. Do they do them in tubeless?
  16. Shame, julle wil baie graag fietsie ry né? Groot word bulle, julle lyk effe hartseer. Perspektief maak die wêreld se verskil.
  17. Oh and BTW, next time you freak out at what Revolution charges for the Spez bikes just be consistent. Also then lose the plot when seeing a specced out SC Nomad, Yeti, Pyga whatever. Bikes are expensive. All of them. Spez is still one of the few brands that gives you a top frame with rideable spec for under R30k. But please, carry on resenting people for doing what they love and making money whilst doing what they (and you would) love.
  18. Not sure who you dealt with but SJ and his dad certainly know their products. They employed a bunch of new staff recently so that would be understandable. Furthermore, they're no more expensive than any other Spez retailer. They sell at RRP and give discount.
  19. I don't follow? You'll leave Spez because there are too many Spez concept stores and too little mixed retailers?
  20. I always get discount. They always hook me up with a deal or throw in a something extra. Lend me tools when I need them, lend me wheels when I break my own, source kit no one else. Can get me, send me elsewhere when they can't help me. Haters gonna hate I guess. I like supporting shops that know what I ride. For me that's Revolution and Kroff.
  21. The Grid version coming soon will have stronger sidewalls and the Butcher is fairly burly. But yes, Contermans may require you to go for something stronger. A car tyre perhaps?
