  1. Jeez Myles, I thought Sherrif quit the Hub...
  2. Shots fired!
  3. Best review so far. Thorough and I leave with a fair idea of the bike's abilities. Thanks Nick. Pity you couldn't test it tubeless for a true feel of it's climbing potential. Pity the ZAR is a dogshow, negating any benefit the direct sales model offered. However, I suppose other than crappy wheels, the entry level Capra at R49k is still superior in spec to other bikes in that price range.
  4. Recent (and final!!!) purchases:
  5. How does one access the Mont Marie trails and do they link with the rest of Eden - GSpot - Coetzenburg?
  6. Nah, our second kid was born 3 weeks ago. Mom gave the go ahead on new bike three weeks prior. Even told her what it cost AND she let's me ride it still. Problem is, we're moving into our new house in December and I suspect the penny's gonna drop mighty hard then. Already looking into gas stove pricing.
  7. Some serious lookers in the Anthem and Trance ranges. Think the market is splitting in 120mm and 150mm brackets
  8. Still riding my A1 from 2 years ago and it looks like the day I bought it. It is however permanently soaked in sweat. It's like a mobile brain sauna. Bunch of my riding mates ride these Spez jobbies and they love them. If I was in the market now I'd consider them. Bit dear though and there are many awesome sub-R2k options out there.
  9. I sure miss those chrome Shimano reservoirs - said no one, ever.
  10. Nah, pretty sure it's just hot.
  11. No idea. I'm not a member. I just go there for the content. Hub for kakpraat. Vital for Raw edits.
  12. Well he is an avid Noam Chomsky reader. Make of that what you will...
  13. Not even denying the fact that my reaction is entirely irrational and driven by emotion. So what. We're allowed to be irrational about some things in life. At least I'm honest about that. Which is more than can be said for many on here. Opportunity to ride and enjoy the trails? Why, was he incapable before? That whole argument is stillborn and frankly disengenuous.
  14. Did they give you an indication what replacement batteries will cost? Also, ever consider a spin bike to get fitter so that you could join your purist buddies on those bigger rides? Finally, and yes I'm intruding in your space and I have no right to ask this, but I'm genuinely wondering, why do you ride mountain bikes? What will you feel at the end of that first big ride with your mates who did the same ride but busted their asses to get up to the climbs? Please don't see my questions as masking some other agenda. I'm openly against e-bikes because I believe they are just another step in the devolution of man in pursuit of instant gratficiation without putting in the hard yards. But I'd love to see whether my attitude is misplaced. The one thing that is bothering me in particular is the frequency with which the "disabled, old or unhelathy people will benefit most from this" trope is bandied about, but when I go on to instagram all I see are either professional riders (obviously paid by their respective sponsors to fawn over these bikes) or otherwise perfectly healthy, but unfit (or in some cases hyper fit, but also affilliated with the relevant brand) people on these saying how awesome they are because now they can go further, faster. Well sh*t...
  15. I forgot there's this leper colony on the hub... My new sled:
  16. My HD's did the same thing
  17. I reckon if you keep riding honest bikes chances are you won't need to buy one at 65. Plenty of pinners around qualifying for pensioner discounts.
  18. Instant gratification comes to mind. The "I want it NOW and I ain't working for it" generation.
  19. Right, now that I've made my position clear let me add this: The Levo is without a doubt the best looking, and from what I've heard, best executed, iterations of the e-bike genre. I reckon this will be great for event photographers that struggle to get to the sharp end of the race to get the shots - especially the EWS guys (although I reckon Sven Martin will glass you if you give him this to ride).
  20. That must be one of the nicest looking motorbikes I've ever seen. I wonder if Specialized also make mountain bikes. (Spare me the "It's not a motorbike, it's a pedal-assist bike" BS. It has a motor. It's a bike.) Something to think about though: When we go riding, how often do we go riding alone? Most of the time we ride with friends, because this is after all a social endeavour. So if you're the one t*sser that rocks up with your luigat fiets so that you can session Jonkers 10 times, what are your mates going to do, assuming they weren't all dumb enough to spend money on this? They're going to carry on as normal and wait for you at the coffee shop I guess. So this bike should really come with a disclaimer - please be aware that riding this bike will result in mostly solo rides, unless you can find an e-bike support group somewhere.
  21. I don't know. Whichever ones don't make my bike look like a fat bike?
