  1. Like I said, I am riding. But its about 200 to 300km there and back depending where you stay in Cape Town. 13 Rand something for a litre of petrol, do the maths. Also time involved getting there, these days people have to plan time with wife and kids and work and family carefully. If they plan on cancelling the event, like WesselvdWalt mentioned in his earlier post, maybe he should first consider a venue closer to Cape Town.
  2. I have entered and I am going, but most of the guys I ride with and other friends simply are not interested because Tulbach is too far. Finish and klaar, they dont care if the route is amazing etc etc. All of them gave me the same answer, too far to drive for a day. I shall see you all there and looking forward to a serious afkak session.

    Argus 2014

Now that Argus is done am I correct in saying that the road races are done for now. Next big race is Knysna Argus? Bring on the mtb races.

    Argus 2014

Wind affected me quite a lot. Made my life quite tough today. Hoping for a 4.20, did a 4.40, so not too bummed, but being a little bit bulkier than the average cyclist does make for some scary descents in the wind.
  5. Absolutely. Cost should not be the issue.
  6. Just bought a pair of s-works mtb shoes brand new for R1999, 2012 model, so hugely discounted. They had brand new s-works road shoes also 2012 models for the same price. Unfortunately its in Cape Town. By the way, nobody laughs at my mtb shoes anymore on the road bike, its all oohs and aaahs.
  7. Like your thinking dude. Honestly this is one race where time does not matter at all to me. If its blowing 60km hour, everybody will have a slow time. If you allow it to f%ck up your ride, your time on the saddle will feel much tougher. Its Argus, nothing can spoil it for me.
  8. Not stressing at all. Gonna be a awsome day,I have a funny feeling Sunday is gonna prduce a gem of a day. Call me crazy.
  9. Relax boys. Most useless profession in the world in a weather forecaster. Poker players are more accurate and highly regarded.
  10. Thank goodness, I did not understand a word you guys were saying about all these scooter bike drivers.
  11. I was reading the comments on the bbc F1 website, where they have now renamed the Red Bull to the Dead Bull. Had a good laugh at that one. Hope its true. Fernando gonna do it this year.
  12. At least it seems like it wont be scorching hot. So at least heat wont be a factor, I am glad about that. Argus will always have wind, its tradition. Cant wait for Sunday.

    Argus MTB

Rode the 22km today, because I was too late to get a 55km or 38km entry. I had an absolute blast. Expect lots of sand guys, in true Argus mtb tradition, lots and lots of sand. Placed in the top 50 against the young laaities. Well organised and with some awsome singletrack, when we were not building sandcastles in the sand.
  14. Totally agree with you. Something about it. The crowds, the cheering, and lets not forget, EVERYONE you know is gonna ask you Monday morning what your Argus time was.
  15. This race for me was tougher than Argus, in terms of more climbs and the wind. My average speed was lower than last years Argus.
  16. I took my road bike off the indoor trainer, you sweat like crazy on a idt, and it was wearing things like my seat and grips and leaving marks on the frame. Bought a really really cheap bike and put in on the trainer, dont care if I destroy that one.
  17. I think we can all agree on that. Top class. Well done to the organizers.
  18. Get one of your mates in a 4 x 4 with steel bumper to ride 300 metres behind you. Buy a raleigh from cash converters for R200 bucks, cover in S-works stickers. Gladly give them your bike and let your mate ride over the useless pieces of ***.
  19. I dont want to get excited too early. But it seems Vettel will have to earn his wins this year. Overall i think this will be the best season in years. Bring on Melbourne baby.
  20. I also missed the rollercoaster. So I entered this one. I need a break from all the races in Paarl and Stellenbosch.
  21. I almost never race on a Sunday. Sundays are spent relaxing with friends and family, just do a quick morning ride most sundays. I race almost every Saturday, I am a race whore. So please event organisers, leave it this way.
  22. I think Stellenbosch is the most dangerous place on the planet to own a bicycle. Seriously. It is getting out of control.
  23. Sweet, looks like we will have to be there super early to get parking and do registration. Luckily I live 5 minutes away. See you guys sunday.
  24. Thus the beer and pizza.
