  1. 120 mm stems are the ****! Not everyone is 3' 8"
  2. Nah, cant be you. Too light on the top side and too heavy on the legs
  3. not sure what your expectations are on this. It would have been nice to have the level of water points you get in trailseekers, but guess sponsorships and smallish race numbers dont help either. Organisers have been chirped before on profiteering before, but not so sure this is the case here. But would need to check the books to know for sure........ I must say i am not sure the water would have lasted for all racers which would not be forgiven, but i finished before this would have happened. Otherwise nice race
  4. Do they have a real feel temperature for me doing 37 km/h average?
  5. Had a tannie draft me in a race last year on a flat open road..... Until the rain made a trench that you could not see until too late, i was too busy trying jump my wheels over to stop myself crashing that i did not have time to warn her. The face plant behind me sounded interesting. She passed me again later when i had a puncture, and she was OK and said she would think twice before drafting again. Very nice lady actually. Do what you must, but be aware i am looking after myself before i think about you.
  6. Think there were 3 water points last year, reasonably spaced. Its a long time ago... sorry.
  7. Heeeeyyyyy, my old chopper. A bitch to cycle fast, BAD bike for ramping, and when i got older the weld at the seat springs broke. A bit too easy to wheelie as well.
  8. Put that broken arm in a cast.
  9. Probably too late to book now, but does anyone know of a bike transport company getting bikes to and from the start from the Joburg area. The usual guys i know of do not seem to be doing bike transport for this. Not sent a mail and asked though either ....
  10. Who are you really.... Lance.... ??
  11. I did one 60 km on sat and nearly died. Ok it was The Hakahana race, but still. Not enough weeks left to be legend for TB
  12. Hmmmm. Not my best race. Think i might put in a warranty claim on the bike engine. It broke way too often in second half. Missed the split and joined the half marathon after last water point. Grrrrr. Will submit DQ. Not that i am complaing as not sure i wanted to carry on. i think i should have trained harder, worst cramps i have had.
  13. I was seriously looking at the Cube when i was buying. Will you have any of the very oversized frames for me to look at out of curiosity?
  14. What he said.Sometime the mat "overhead gantry pick up thingymabob" picks up the new group you start in sometimes not. They now also seem to scan you into your pen for the Trailseeker races anyway. So they are aware there are people in the incorrect batch (up or down). Best to speak to the officials before the race at number pick up or on the day (which will be busy). They have always been helpful to myself and some mates wanting to change batches.
  15. Went on Holiday to the UK when it was R1,50 to the Pound.... I bought rock candy in Blackpool. The beach had rocks instead of sand, and it was raining.
  16. Awesome Will go check there this weekend. Think the gauge can go bye bye.for races. Also you can only carry so many bombs and then you run out. PS CLOSE THE OUTLET VALVE ON THE BOMB ADAPTER BEFORE SCREWING THE BOMB IN. Use it dont use it..... Only made that mistake 3 times and counting.....
  17. Brannawyn my maat, sommer so!
  18. Note to all entrants It will be a wide 72 track race if they want to prevent congestion. If you want a race without 5995 people walking in front of you up a mini hillock, get a decent seeding into batch A or B. Otherwise its a dog show.
  19. Sorry it might be me as well. I will sneeze in a baritone to prevent confusion. I think i will actually sit at the back of the pen as well. Lack of training for last 2 weeks......
  20. I have been told by my boss that he has seen a "telescoping hand pump" that will fit in your riding jersey pocket and works way better than simple pumps. This is because the handle firstly pulls out the normal plunger, and then a second sleeve slides out of the pump casing to give a telescoping effect. Effectively 2 pumps in one. I did not like running out of bombs and spending 10 min pumping on the side of the road when i had repeated problems during a race. I do not know what pressure it did, or make or cost. Just heard it exists. I am interested in this item. Anybody know if this exists or have i been misinformed?
  21. Short story long. Was hoping to give Routjie and Chukky grief from B batch, but kinda tragic issues prevent me from giving VG a go (when i have actually done training) One x marathon entry being donated to someone who could not be bothered to enter. PM me and i will send a mail allowing substitution. Sure Wessel will advise if its ok. And a ludwigs roses freebee going for sunday too cos not gonna make that either. Go Croatia
  22. No Worries. I will be walking off the line (on the right cos its easier on the uphill side) and jogging down the track where i can. Gonna try ride the first third of the descent which is do-able, but the last section is a bit iffy. Respect to anyone who can ride that section.
  23. Yup Chukky, i expect nothing else than a protracted rant about those incompetent lazy and slow chops on the satellite descent. Please make sure you throw an empty water bottle at me as you blast past......
  24. re The hijacked Munga issues: If you Joe Average with $10k just lying around in your mattress, then its just a social ride for 1000km. Makes no sense to me. 20 Elites competing really ...and everyone else is just there for the pretty girls and ice lolly at the end. The 4th to 10th team all just get an entry to next year, so no real prize money at all after first 3 teams.
  25. Its more likely called "Jou Baas se #$%&"
