  1. Targeting a sub 5. Hope i am not overstating my abilities after a bit of a break after Argus...
  2. Tx Lights are all a bit of a mine field really. Looking for minimum 1200 lumens actual as a starter, 3 settings for power and the med power needs to last for 8 hours or so. For me to use it for long marathons and then shorter brighter setting for night races. Dont want a car battery either. And $500 is pushing it a bit on price.. So only want the world really........
  3. Kinda nervous. One partner only started training a few weeks ago, but he is young. Other partner, not started yet, but he picks up quickly so see how he does. Last shopping item is the light. Still checking out items but all looking good.
  4. Same problems entering. Then have the problem of not knowing where to register for a new profile with Advendurance as it seems the login info i had last year is no longer valid.
  5. Its only funny cos its not me..... Well not on camera yet anyway.
  6. It'll cost you R500 each time you hit the brakes. Those rotors look gold too. Bit suspect on technical descents if you ask me. Gold melts and softens at too low a temperature for my liking.
  7. Nope..... Thats what CS tried. However CS were wrong on polishing the brown stuff and expecting it to turn into gold......
  8. Get a lump of coal and start polishing............
  9. I'm over analyzing again i guess. Will grab my pitchfork and tyres and mosey along with the mob.
  10. Thats the point i am trying to make. Not trying to be a chop or anything, but DT Swiss make a couple of different types of wheels. The R37 500 included frame and wheels. Well that's what the lawyers letter said. Its a piss poor effort by them to stay in business if they think they can get away with it. If its for R50 or R50 000.
  11. Couple of reasonsFirstly a big one would be to get an idea of what the motivation is for a bike shop to sell fake products. What is the actual difference and therefore the temptation to line a pocket. A once off payment with big rewards is always there. Secondly there is an old adage that says "Let the buyer beware". If the price difference is too large then alarm bells should go off in a purchasers mind. If it sounds to good, then there is an excellent chance it is. I do not know what these things cost, i am asking for some help. There are plenty of threads on the Hub that warn people of web sites, users etc who are fleecing the public. It was just a matter of time before a well known bike shop got caught up in the spiraling fraud and deceit that is rife in this country. Plenty of examples of that i the country and media right now. I do not want to believe that either party in this debacle is deliberately trying to deceive anyone, but it would seem i am wrong in this. The invoice from the shop being the biggest one of all. Complete stuff up on their behalf which will be difficult to get away from. I would like some additional info for my own peace of mind so i know what to look for in my future dealings with bike shops.
  12. Hi Andrew \Can you correct us with the actual spec you were quoted on for the items supplied with bike. Only Reference i have is the Lawyers Letter and your comments on the items that were identified as fake. Both too far back to go find (apologies) Hopefully we can at least have an OP reference point for estimating prices. Frame : Dogma 65.1 Think 2 Wheels : DT Swiss ? Headset : ? Handle bars : ? Seat Post : ?
  13. Not being an expert can people fill in approximately costs here if they know: Do not have actual specs from OP, unless i misread (its a long fred this). Kinda curious on price differentials on these. There is obviously a market for the Chinarello out there as people are buying them (as long as buyer is aware they are Chinarellos ). Populate the values in line with OP purchse, i.e. ignore groupo, tubes etc. OEM from reliable retailer Pina Dogma 65.1 : R Headset Handle Bars etc : R Wheels DT Swiss ) : Grey Import (expect about 20% discount for dodging ASG and maybe taxes?) Pina Dogma : R Headset Handle Bars etc : R Wheels DT Swiss ) : Chinarello (We have a reliable budget price here) Chinarello Dogpoo : R 37 500 Headset Handle Bars etc : included Wheels DT Swizz ) : included
  14. Has Derek Watts shown up yet at store?
  15. except for the Dogma which is black on black.
  16. Confession I prefer the brushed look too.
  17. Agreed Brogue on your points, something smells like dog poo. It is a pity that we are not getting a response from what used to be my LBS, until they failed to give me a straight answer on modifying a hub from skewer to through axle. But so far it seems they are sticking to their guns that it was a Chinarello and never marketed as anything else. Way too many absent "facts" including a dodgy looking Advocate Roux letter.
  18. ? Its a *** situation as i have said, and i hope both parties resolve their probs. Thanks for the spray job clarification Andrew.
  19. Not sure why the OPs comments are taken as gospel. I am not saying he is lying, but i have been wrong myself before due to misunderstandings, eagerness, forgot, chose to ignore or any other number of reasons. OP mentioned in original post that the LBS indicated way back that he was informed that it was not original. This is supported by the "lawyers" response ( very little backup provided). But i will respect the lawyers position on this not to be tried by the media. The numbers do not add up on the invoice values. LBS says he only paid R37 500. Lets assume R15k (low?) for wheels, 4k for headet and handle bars and saddle column, leaves a frame of R18 k. Dont know what a frame costs here but basic pricing is about $5 000. (R50 k plus) Please correct me if i am wrong as i have never shopped for a bike like this. LBS indicated OP wanted sprayed frame, to my mind i would not want to touch the frame on a R91 k bike. OP not commented on this. Dont know if there were costs involved. No i do not know why the OP invoice says Dogma, or if the frame was painted on request or not, or who said what, but there is obviously a lot of info not available to us as this would take a court case, which seems to be the way this is going.
  20. Thats what i said. Sorta.... Only my one is faster cos its a green one.
  21. I see holes in both OP and LBS comments. Unfortunately that is why lawyers make so much money. Your truth, my truth, and the ever increasing numbers in lawyers bank accounts.
  22. Just worried about the set of ZTR Arch wheels i bought there a couple of yrs ago. Now refitted for MTB use not road use. Hope there are not too many Stanzz manufacturers out there using kakky Aluminaminamnium. Ho hum, will get it checked. PS, did not get an invoice for these when i bought em, and to be honest i did not demand one. Hope most of their products were real. Sad to see a bike shop flamed like this due to stupidity and poor understanding. Hope OP and shop resolve issues one way or another.
  23. Doing a social with a mate for the 40 k on the MTB. Looking forward to sitting and doing no work with a mate. Might pack some beer in the camel back for the ride....... Yeah i know dont drink and ride......
  24. Yup, was virtually nothing. 5% was jut an arbitrary number i stuck in. My bad,..... But still i get virtually no sag on the shock when i sit on it. I can feel the saddle dips a bit but not lots.
  25. You and me both when on flat stuff. Hit some hard downhills and rocky sections and you should definitely feel the difference. if not, setting are wrong or it needs a service. The SAG settings manual was a waste of time for me. SAG is like about 5% at the correct pressure for my weight....
