  1. have you checked the distance of the gpx file? I am getting probalimsss.....Have you been able to open the track on the Garmin PC software to see if its correct?
  2. Ja... Not so sure about that anymore. Just did the Tracks for Africa download of the 2014 TB onto my Bryton..... and Its 738.10 km. Seems i have to go back to the start and re-ride the race 3 times or something....... Might not make that 8pm Sat night beers appointment hey....
  3. Where does all this cycling i have been told about happen? All i see is turning, eating, drinking and checking in. This ride is gonna be E A S Y.
  4. Has anyone else tried to book a massage at Chckpt 5. They did not bother replying to my mail so i had to phone. Then i was asked what time i want to book the massage for.......

  6. Naas, can i get your autograph?
  7. As much as i think the situation is a complete stuff up. I am not 100% on the ball either on my actions. I have seen reasonable service from the Joburg Water guys We have had a water leak outside our house for quite some time, which we did not report cos we were stoopid as well. Even though the meter reader dude could see there was a water leak himself when he came round monthly (i saw him in the road 5 am on a monthly basis so i know he was there). Eventually i got hold of a number from my boet and reported the leak. Within 2 weeks the problem was fixed. Will try find the number, but i think it was the standard number available on their web site. Its not theft related issues agreed, but some areas have worked.
  8. Close.... Too many f%$#wits to my mind.
  9. Will this work with my Futurelife as well? The Crunchy chocolate one?
  10. Ride to Avianto on sat morning, do race, ride home..... hemorrhage, recover etc etc
  11. I am 204 and geometry is fine. You should be fine, although a long way from the ground.....
  12. I would tend to disagree with you there. I think there would be PLENTY of "used to be owned by me" bikes in tha ghetto maan. However you would need to have a lot of stolen bikes and ex owners with that trakr, all clustering together to be useful ...... i guess. Sorta like Dips said.
  13. I have a Polar and a Bryton GPS training device. I am wondering what other peoples experience is with the different types of training support software, not so much the devices themselves. I am fairly disappointed in the Bryton web based analysis tools. Editing of the training is pretty much non existent, the mobile device interface is frustrating and half the buttons/links do not work properly. Cant download my training via my Samsung at the moment due to software issues. I am informed that an updated web site is coming, but not sure when. Hopefully this will allow me to customise the elevation of the rides i do, as it is silly having a training ride on the Highveld with a base elevation set at sea level. I can not even see where the climbs are on my training ride. The Polar software is quite a bit more user friendly, as well as being based on my PC which is nice. Not all info recorded is available to trend either which can be frustrating. Garmin, no info yet. Feedback, abuse, support, etc etc welcome.
  14. If i ride on the Cradle MTB route next to the road, and then on the road the next week. Will Strava allow me to make a segment that picks up which one i rode?l.

  23. Being a noob and all on this race, can someone please give some practical advice on how best to use the blikkies given to us. We do not have a support vehicle as lack of wives/friends, so our only support will be what we pack in these boxes. 1) Clothes : i cant take everything on my back and i understand it gets pretty damn cold there when the sun goes down ...... and you doing a 16 hour ride. 2) Food : I see they have had soup at the check points. I am pretty sure this will be sufficient as GU is probably NOT the way to go on this race 10 hours in. Not wanting to pack food in the blikkie and hope i get to the right blikkie at dinner time. 3) Spares : Will carry spares that are needed and maybe toss in a spare tube or two into the blikkies. I will not have spare rims or derailleurs etc Considering having a second battery for the light, but will prob put this in the last bin, but not sure how this will help when the sun goes down around checkpoint 5 ish...... 4) Ask for Deo and suntan lotion (for next morning if all goes bad?) can only be put in Bin for Pt 4. 5) Kinda nervous now even though i am sure i will be fine.
