  1. Game over in 3 days again. Hope not. At least i can watch some on sat morning.
  2. Saw videos and looks like a lot of cyclists struggled to get through the tunnel at the start. Many just parking off against walls to shelter. Too many inexperienced riders would have struggled immensely, pulling up and just standing in the middle of the road because they were tired. That is also not to mention the "bone yard" quoted by someone else when a peloton goes down due to a stoopid mistake by someone near the front. Have not been able to ride the last 3 events, but would like to do it again. Not sure a blanket moratorium on new entries (due to carry over of "free" entries) to the next year is the way to go as this will mean a virtually zero chance of any new rider getting an entry.
  3. Sorry to hear this.
  4. Wife used one at Reading festival couple of years ago. Basically you NEVER want to sit down in a festival toilet. 4 days on you dont want to be closer than 40 m from a festival toilet.....
  5. I get a headache sitting a train facing the wrong way when its moving. I would upchuck if i had to spend a whole race watching the road go the wrong way! Pretty cool bike tho. Needed a laugh today.
  6. Due to working overseas and a pretty piss poor training regime, i will not be terribly rapid this year. Anyone know any decent beer halls to pull over in between the zoo and Saints? Not sure my arms will handle the full distance so considering options to pull off (with another mate in the same boat) and chill waiting for a lift...... if things go badly...
  7. Dont know how to post the links, but i really enjoy Hallelujah from Loenard Cohen and then the remake by Jeff Buckley
  8. In the norff, sorry. But i could make a plan to heard down South on a Sat no problemo. Not for next week. Will PM to co-ordinate. Like the way the options are going, looks awesome.
  9. I think 1 x shirt is required. Sign me up. If possible i would like to see the cut. Sometimes Xl and XXL are built for really small people, and not me. Caucasian is too d@mn tall. PM when you get final final final colour options....
  10. Aaaah, i missed this thread. Can i ask what the difference is between a fake and a grey fake (again.....)???? Please......?. I miss all the chirps and punch bags.
  11. I get the aspect of bragging rights. That is seen in how the Epic has progressed, both in stature and the obligatory entry fee rocketing each year. It is also clear that the average Epic Rider is just doing it to say he did it. Joe Shmo has 0.002% chance of winning, unless they are a Pro with plenty of training opportunities. The Munga is a new race, unproven in logistics, sponsorship, routes, profile, fun, challenge, stature, entries, HUB support , etc etc. The prize money is currently disproportionate. The entry fee as well. As has been mentioned in the thread earlier, the average Hubbers get the challenge aspect etc, i just don't get the manner in which the race has been promoted in a "blazing glory" manner into the MTB race program, or how the business model will work in the long run. I would love to do the race, but there are other races that i can compete in for a lot less of the cost and still have a similar experience. As for the bragging rights, to my mind a lot of "bragging rights" are just an ego trip. It all depends on how you want to boast. Edit : minor details and format
  12. Will the teams that won free entries get a full refund? 1) Full refund in $ for actual entry cost = $ many 2) Full refund equivalent to the amount they gave the organizers... = $0
  13. Oh, and its all mostly training for Shova

Thursday : 70 km with 1320m ascenrt Friday : Calm day : 80 km, 1650 m ascent Sat : Push real hard : 50 km 900m ascent Sunday : Bleed Dr Evil website says i should ride like a maniac..... they claim new research says so, ......so i guess it must be true.
  16. Had a similar incident regarding our Blue Light brigade if i remember correctly. Motor bike incident, but still close enough. Seems South Africa is on a par with first world countries after all.
  17. Yip, it could be two Pyga's.........
  18. Now THIS is a bike with a seat post tube extension i can RESPECT. A 9 ft 3' rider would love it. Need a similar tube for the handlebars.
  19. Damn that Pyga is sexy from the back in your top pic... not so sure about the rider though.
  20. 'smeee. The WILD wife with a Momsen that does 60 kph downhill in the dark (without lights tooo!!!) Haha. there was someone else that was emotional. not you, would have noticed you guys, and helped with the lights if you had chirped me again......... I did not even notice that i passed you. The pard mentioned that we passed you and you came in just behind us. Note to self: be nicer to people who look like they need lights....
  21. You must have been just behind me as well. Glad my lights lasted. Was behind some guys with virtually no lights. They let me past. Dont know why, they should have stayed in the light...... Well i would have anyway if i was in their position....
  22. Not sure how many riders we ere eventually. 6 or 7 as i heard other voices behind me. Think there were a couple of groups stopped on the single track. One bunch of two riders and one of three. Clipped someones handlebars as i went past. Too tired to keep balance and wide handlebars too. Sorreeee if if was you. There were some sore and grumpy people as well on that section (apart from my partner). One lady had an emotional outburst at her mate who stopped just before i passed you.
  23. Good job matchstix. Came in at 3:15 and feeling sore. Pard was not happy from 70 ks in. Had to pace and focus on finishing. Beautiful parts of the kloof i must say. Bit frustrated that i did not see MAC during the day. Would have been nice to *** myself looking at that accent. However really cool looking at the lights at the top when you at the bottom. Also never been called a gazelle before, but thank for the compliments. The bike, she likes these compliments. Will be back, but not next yr.
  24. fixed
