  1. Good race. Spent the last few kms with a chap from Slovenia given his cycling kit. Fairly nice bunch that were chatty with people they knew. One one the guys who was close " i think" to the crash said there was quite a bit of weaving. Was too far in front of me to see. 3:08 for me so was quite happy.
  2. Think a batch will have split 3 times by the bottom of Hillsnacks. 3:30 to 3:45 maybe for me... Will prob join Rouxtjie on the now holey red nissan sockies
  3. Not so sure i fully agree with you. Two wedding vehicle processions that i passed, what options did they have. Its a tough question though. As has been shown on TV channels from his boxing days to the Rugby WC event, he loved his sport. If I am respectful and show reverence and humility during and before, i would like to feel that i can celebrate a life by doing what i love.
  4. Dear Motorist I pledge to ride where it is safe......
  5. The Float FiT shocks are not part of the recall. As advised by Omnico this morning. Good news for me.
  6. Yup more than double the time in the workshop getting hangers straightened, brakes fixed, rims true'd (dunno how many e's there are supposed to be) etc etc
  7. Yup, XT spec is a min R40 k, the extras hurt after that. With the seat post dropper mine was R45k (April this year).
  8. Same with me. At the recommended pressure i had almost no sag, so i thought i had a bad setup. I kept the pressure at recommended value and the ride is still fine for me, when i hit a bump it takes the knock as expected for the ful sus.
  9. Um, just a smidgeon on the small side. the 110 stem feels OK though
  10. I ride around Chartwell as well and also ride on the side of the road where i can. Will take note of your experience as i have to cross Cedar as well on most of my routes. Dumb asses on the road. On a lighter note, just remember this is Africa, its just Hardening You the F Up.
  11. Wet rides. Woo hoo
  12. Either is acceptable, however are you aware of how long , boring and painful HAZOPs are?
  13. Nope Sounds like a stand up chap though.
  14. Note to self: Give this race a skip, seems to have more issues that the 94.7 MTB race......
  15. Can I HAZOP this fred?
  16. Will wait till tomorrow morning and play "bounce the roadie off my bonnet" when i get onto Cedar Rd next to Broadacres
  17. 1 race = max 5000 points Quote from their rules : "If you participate in an event that goes on for longer than one day, you must only select the last date of the event on the calendar to claim your points for the event" (guess its their rules). But on the flip side seems a bit harsh if the guys doing the Cape Epic for example only get 1 set of points
  18. My battery went flat. Samsung S4 has *** battery's .
  19. Bridges are for advertising boards. Why would someone want ll that exercise to walk over a bridge when there are bikes to dodge.
  20. Big For Sale sign outside the Polo Club entrance where the people drove into Joberg day. Not sure how long its been there as i only noticed it 2 weeks ago
  21. Yeah and i will have to stand at the back..... again........ Otherwise they cut my head off in the photo.....
  22. From my perspective, i am one of the a holes who is having my number collected for me. There are corporate bonds and a whole lot of other people who do not want to wait in a queue. The fact that these companies etc pay for the privilege is the companies choice. If need be why not get someone else to collect your numbers for you as well. As far as parking is concerned, if you dont want to pay the parking fee, its a 50 or 60 m walk from the PnP parking area. I think it is a rip off as well, but the choice is there.
  23. People seem to be a bit extreme on their opinions on this. Deliberate actions by professionals or people invoved with making money from the sport should result in harsh punishment, stoopid behavior should be harsh as well but 4 yrs for an amateur in E batch is a little silly.
  24. A1 guys walked the bottleneck section by that water tank as well. Very nice piece of track but i can see it would have been a killer an hour after i went through. Advendurance have only "solved" this problem by limiting the number of entrants to their events. 1500 people who are slow is gonna kill anyones ambition. Agree with general comments that with this number of entrants, you need at least 2 pieces of track for the entire course otherwise it will be a joke and frustrating. Give a 2 to 4 km chicken run option to people who can not (or should not ) do the 250 m of that single track. i.e. the old route around that water tank. Otherwise i enjoyed the race.
  25. If you going 1 bottle route, stop at every water table in the second half of race if you not expecting a sub 5 hour race. Its warm on the highway
