  1. Entries re opened and Team Dusty Bottoms have signed up.......
  2. Watch out for thorns and punctures. Two smallish hills on the track. They are cutting more single track through the bush which is a really good move by them. Nice track on the whole.

From my seeding, they used both the road and mountain interchangeably and treated them both as one list in the Road and MTB seedings..... go figure.
  4. Far Canal... Now that is a bike i can fall off in real style. Not just legs anymore, now its legs and my neck getting stuck in the spokes...
  5. I am a billionaire.... I am 204 cm When are the 36er's coming out???
  6. Bigger legs helps with climbing power.Mine are long and skinny so climbing sux. Currently I am on a 2x10. If you go to a second ring you will need a front derailleur which is a different setup.

Gotcha But seems they did it the other way round. Winner was actually 2:29. RI calculator used 2:36. So basically the winners get a RI of -0.4..... I get a better race index and the rest of the world is totally confused. Think i hear a beer calling. Will race my little heart out and try not to get flamed for wheel sucking.......

This is my whole point. So i am up in F Batch and the guys all drop me up hospital hill and i feel like a tit. Seems odd that the seeding is based on skewed results and not on actual performance. I get the beta thing but why not use the winners time. Just hope i can keep up with the bulk of the group. PS you better update your PPA seeding on your Argus spreadsheet, cos after your result in the Berg n Dale you will have dropped to 16 or something......

Just another note on PPA having interesting race indexes. Berg and Dale is a seeding event for next years race. .. right.. So why did they not take the winning time in their seeding calculator, but rather the 7th place rider who was 7 or 8 minutes back..... Perhaps that is how they offset the fact that there will be a 6 pt penalty for using results that are a year old. So everyone who is bitching about getting nailed for old results and penalties.... it seems you are wrong. Oh and they put a 0.93 beta on the Berg n Dale race as well, so Hillsnacks must have been a very short hill according to them. I disagree.
  11. Coke needs brandy
  12. Entries locked out again...... So much for timing and luck......

Seems they are sticking to their PPA seeding calculator system which is on the web site. Doing seeding by individual results and not based on 150-250 riders per batch etc..... Small groups from A to E therefore a small gap between them???? Cluster f*&k in batch F onwards.......
  14. I have two old bikes from school days (25 to 27 ish yrs ago). Are they worth anything to anybody? (would be nice if they are collectible, rusty so not much hope) Some components have been allocated on retro thread already. Tyres are shot, bit of rust on some components. Will need a bit of work i suppose, but not sure the makes are worthwhile. Made in Taiwan is the operative comment here. Otherwise i will see if a charity is interested. 1) Sprinter. weighs 2 tonnes, component names i have not heard of recently. 2) Samson ladies bike (will get photos if anyone interested.)
  15. Dropped up hillsnax, dropped by B batch machines as well, but still managed ok ish time. Thanks to the guys who pulled, cramped on last hill so was never gonna sprint. One lady in the bunch seemed to have had a fall but was still pulling the bunch with nice leg and arm grazes.

Hooray. Quote from Argus organizers : UPDATE ON CHAPMAN'S PEAK DRIVE We are aware of the construction and roadworks that are currently under way on sections of Chapman's Peak. There has been much debate over whether or not we will be using the 'Chappies' route this year as a result of this work. Our team have been in close contact with the Provincial authorities and we have been assured that there will be sufficient road width for the Tour to be accommodated safely on this route. Liaison with all the necessary role-players will be on-going in the lead-up to the event, and together with the province and contractors, we remain confident that we will all be enjoying another scenic ride over the majestic Chapman's Peak Drive this year.
  17. Uh... think u mean butt crack
  18. I like Hillsnacks
  19. Hopefully the SAS results will be so loaded (guess 1st place will have a weighting of 40) that i do not think anyone will benefit from a good result in this race. Some of those that finished quite high up would embarrass themselves and cause problems if they actually did benefit from the "shortcuts"
  20. The white lightning clean ride version is useless for dusty rides. Dunno if anyone else has noted this
  21. Dry and hard, flat and fast course. Good day out. But in retrospect, shoulda taken the hint when we went past the carolla and 4x4 stuck in the mud 1 km from start
  22. BRING ON THE MUD!!!! (Note to self: Don't forget to pack a tracksuit to drive home in)
  23. 2 x pumps, longer one has damage to the handle though.
  24. The HUB can run the billing through EToll, they have everyones ID number, blood sample, finger prints, retina scan, chocolate starfish print..... you know the usual stuff available in the ether
  25. My enterprising and "horading" gardner has saved the day. He decided the pump was fine and kept it. I will arrange a finders fee for him as the pump still exits. Not sure what sort of collector you are and how much of a prize it is. If i do restore mine, i think it would be a great item to keep as well for the whole bike. I will post a pic of it. Plus another old one that has been in my garage for the last 30 odd yrs from the "Sprinter" that i cycled home from school on. The second one is just too short to fit in the top tube rests (prob smaller frame), but might be worth something to someone.
