  1. Now that the Advanced has Fox CTD front and rear, I would seriously consider one of these!
  2. Hou op rond neuk en trap harder op jou harde rides! When you are soft pedaling (like on a descent) the data does not seem to be accurate, so stop mucking about and pedal! Someone complained that the powercals direct power reading seems to fluctuate ... that is to be expected, your heart is being measured after all. Switch you Garmin to give average over 30sec for a more consistent reading!
  3. Here you go! Didnt get to spend to much time with her, her lucky new owner already collected her! 2014 29er Giant Anthem Advance X1
  4. For Franschoek riding, contact Geddan at Franschoek Cycles. He lays out the trails for a couple of races in that area.
  5. Busy unpacking her now! Hopefully a quick spin & photoshoot is on like donkey kong tomorrow!
  6. R25400 A trail/travel bike in 650b I can understand and appreciate! They are not in yet but the 27.5 Trance Advance 1 will be in the region of R53k (rough estimate, nothing official) Hot bike
  7. The biggest 27.5 Merida is manufacturing is 21.5"
  8. A couple of 14" and 16" available already. Which one and what size are you after?
  9. This question came up yesterday. Are there any pro's on Silverback? Giant had WC podiums with pro's in various classes. Which means a lot more research and feedback goes into the geometry, handling, stiffness and capabilities of their bikes.
  10. On order, should be in our hands soon!

We got there a bit late since we did not see this thread, rode all the way up the climb from Helderbergplaas side with our bikes! Looked like the big jumps were taped closed?

  13. Had a couple of 2014 pass through the shop last week. Giant pricing is going to hurt some of the competitors! 29er Giant Anthem X1
  14. Sidi Mega is a wider shoe than their normal shoe. Anyway, why dont we stop guessing! Pop in and try them on, we have size 44, 44.5 and 45 in stock. Not all the different models yet but once we have your size we can go from there!
  15. What size and what colour? I can hook you up!
  16. Expected date of arrival in Cape Town is the 15th of October ... give or take a couple of days. What size are you after, I can secure one for you?
  17. Cool, will check stock availability in a while but here is what she will look like 2014 Merida Big Ninety-Nine 1000 (oh and the duals are called Big Ninety-Nine's and the hardtail Big Nine's )
  18. Prices on 2013 bikes wont drop much, it is still 2013 after all. Most suppliers will ensure that their 2013 stock levels are running pretty low during this time of the year to make space for the 2014 bikes coming in. Some suppliers are completely out of 2013 stock already but there are still a couple of shops sitting with 2013 bikes.
  19. .... nevermind
  20. 2014 Hard tails are available already, sold 3 this week. Not sure when the duals are coming in. Will check and pm you in the morrow.
  21. What pressure are you riding up front? Schwalbe Racing Ralph SnakeSkin remains the most popular choice for Epic. Very versatile tire, great all-rounder. Offers bigger volume and good middle ground between strong and light. I have personally never had a problem with them slipping, ride the front at 1.8ish bar normally; The knobblies have a softer compound and can wear of on tarmac fast but you should not be on tarmac anyway! During training I use Maxxis Crossmark or the rear and Ardent on the front. They are strong, bombproof and you can get a million miles out of them but they are k@k heavy. The Crossmark isnt great in the mud but the Ardent is lekka aggressive and offers more than enough grip up front!
  22. Which makes them probably the most durable UST tyre out there. I can not think of a tyre with a thicker or stronger sidewall than a Maxxis LUST tyre. Yes the Crossmarks suck in mud with not much grip but with the thread pattern down the middle it can go forever on hard terrain and tar. For the OP a good allrounder with a bit more grip, I would suggest: Maxxis Ardent - Front Maxxis Crossmark - Rear I use this combo for training with a 2.2 Ardent on the front and you can get a gazillion miles out of them. For races I switch to Schwalbe Racing Ralph's Snakeskin 2.2 front and back. Offers more grip, bigger volume, is lighter and pretty awesome in any condition. You can also use the Snakeskin version comfortably at much lower pressure than some othe tubeless ready tires.
