  1. You know they're not going to contribute... They did fokol for fire and they're going to conveniently "not see" this thread either...
  2. Spez tarmac?
  3. The simple (and sad) fact is, they charge what they do cause they can. And we pay it. How can you tell me that a top end bike costs more than my car? R&D? How does making small adjustments ija mould compare to all the testing done on my polo? Materials? 1kg of carbon vs 1.2 tons of various metals, plastics and glass? It's not even like they engineer the gears, or wheels. It's BS man, but it happens cause we're stupid enough to pay! You can cycle cheap, if you're patient and willing to do the work, and driving around. And my advice? NEVER TRUST AN LBS! The amount of times I was screwed over by very reputable stores because I was a noob was ridiculous. And unfair. But I guess if your son wins tour De France stages you can sleep at night.
  4. Pm me details as in wouldn't mind an aero road frame...
  5. Which one do you like the most? Buy that one.
  6. Wow...even for the short time I've been on this forum he was always the last word on anything technical. And amazing explanations too.. Hope you stay on the Hub Sir!
  7. Better wheelset. The shimanos are heavy. Save up man...
  8. You guys are dicks. The OP is deaf if I remember correctly. Try helping before you act like asses. Nice way to start your weekly karma!
  9. Yeah I'm with you there... Just sounds like someone who had a *** race so had to blame it on the bubbly water, instead of his jelly legs...
  10. Yeah I don't see how that works... But it is definitely uncomfortable to drink...
  11. Yeah also don't get this... If you don't like how an organisation is run, why not leave it?
  12. Hell yes. Although that would be a monumental undertaking... Especially with all the complaints of people who are smoothing out trails... Imagine a published poll and getting gnarly trails downgraded thanks to the mommies?
  13. Where are they based?
  14. Not for a 29er... Giggity
  15. Gees just saw the prices of the mavics cosmic carbones on evobikes... Seriously, at that price, awesome!
  16. Somebody's been watching too much Line of Sight...
  17. As far as I remember from my bmx days, almost all the bmx tubes come with schrader...
  18. I have the cosmic carbone sl. The ones with the alu brake tracks. Weight is around 1750g for the set, but apparently they have far superior hubs in their price range. The crosswind effect is felt, and certainly not a huge problem. The mavics are 50mm, so at the point of great advantage without massive crosswind effect. Once you learn to not fight the wind, and let your hands get a little loose on the steering, you start to flow with the bike in windy conditions. Seriously not an issue. But it's all about what's going to work for you... They may not be great in a pack, ie, no advantage, but when you're out front or on your own, even in small groups, the advantage is definitely there and felt. Worth it for my riding...
  19. I really enjoy my deep sections. They're really good for making you feel fast, and I definitely feel a tiny bit fresher at the end of a ride... I've had the American classic 58, we're decent, currently on mavic comics. I wheels with great hubs. Everyone here will recommend the zipps, so be prepared for that, but don't shy away. The cosmics are great wheels and from everywhere i searched, they're bombproof too. Not the lightest but who cares about 200grams? Go for it man... Plus they always make any bike look hella sexy!
  20. You'll be fine off road for 500m. I've done a few ks off road on my 23c tyres, just put it in a nice high gear and take it easy... Find a bike that fits. The rest you'll figure out. Not challenging Chris Froome so don't overspend on a pleasure ride bike. You'll find loads of great bargains here on the Hub. Seek and ye shall find, ask, and it shall be given. Enjoy your cycling! I'm super jealous, I have to drive about 50km to get to the cradle. Few places better to ride!
  21. The number hands are from a bad fit.
  22. For the majority of South African road races, aero rims are the better choice. We ride fairly flat and fast races here, and unless you're racing with a training group, you're more likely to have a lot of alone time... Hence, aero outweighs the slight weight penalty.
  23. Has been discussed at length. Try I cycle. They've just paid out one of my claims, albeit it with slight hassle. Contact sean@icycle.co.za
