  1. Both are excellent, no wrong choice there. Add 'Better Call Saul' to your list if you haven't already seen it.
  2. 4x4 Forum has some decent threads on the subject with some added bonus River Rat content.
  3. By all accounts they were offered a bit of a rubbish choice, finish it there and then or at lunchtime the following day. Not so much requesting to play as picking the least worst alternative.
  4. True but then they shouldn't be on here crying about cycling being excessively priced if they are ignoring entry level and staring at a top end super bike.
  5. Not at the moment unfortunately, for a couple of reasons - The vehicle and staff spend a good part of each weekend parked in strategic spots on the mountain on the lookout for any potential criminals trying their luck and in the event of an accident or injury they have to attend to that - this Sunday there was a bad crash on DH1 that led to the staff spending two hours co-ordinating the extraction of the injured rider (everything turned out well in the end). The next reason is a happier one - the trails are so busy on weekends at the moment if we closed one for a build day we may start a riot. That said we are conscious of the fact that people really do want to be involved so will see if we can come up with a plan to make something happen.
  6. To be fair - 1. I struggled to remember the timelines and I was in some of the meetings that led to the opening of the trails, so it's easy to get a bit confused over the when, where and what of the whole mess. 2. Everybody is entitled to an opinion. 3. If there is one thing the hub does well it's flogging a very deceased horse.
  7. I'm pretty sure all the mess with people getting arrested etc started in 2015 and the trail was finally opened in 2016. This thread may offer some clues -
  8. I think you may be getting your dates wrong here. People were busted there around the start of June 2015 but the process was still very much running, I have the minutes from a meeting from 15 June 2015 that show that site visits were still to be completed and the public participation process had not even started. Someone jumped the gun when they said the place was open for riding.
  9. Where and when was this? The only thing that I know of that comes close to this was when a mtb representative announced The Cork Tree trail (I think) was opening while it was still under discussion between The Table Mountain Mountain Bike Forum and SANParks, but had absolutely not been opened at that point and it would be many months before it was as all the proposed trails had to go through a public participation exercise first.
  10. This really is ridiculous and I cannot see what the resultant mess was supposed to achieve. It winds me up no end when people create a new line by riding around an obstacle (if you can't complete an obstacle then use the 'B' line or, better still, go ride a trail you are comfortable on) but this is next level.
  11. But, but, but there is a process and plan. And he has amazing hair.
  12. or, and I know this is a bit wild, find somewhere else to ride until it is open again.
  13. That's another storied team about to bottom out, for the life of me I don't understand why these teams queue up so willingly to pay him compensation.
  14. I may be wrong on this but I think Meerendal might be closed at the moment (I don't think they opened post Covid lockdown). If you ride Tokai there is a safety patrol around in case of accident/emergency during busy times and if you have a problem (not a "I have a puncture and don't feel like walking" type of issue) you can contact the person on duty on 087 059 0000.
  15. I've checked a few times now but I still don't see bicycle on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
  16. How can you seriously compare financing a house with financing a bike? One is a need the other is a want and they shouldn't be conflated.
  17. Only watch the second half then?
  18. When Real Madrid are the likeable plucky underdog in a semifinal line up something has gone horribly wrong.
  19. Thanks for clarifying Matt, there was a moment there where I thought the bike might be a bit pricey...
  20. First game I ever saw live was when a buddies Dad took us to see Leeds beating Norwich 5-2 in the FA cup in 1976. Every time Lorimer got the ball up went the chant of "90 miles an hour". It was a hell of a good introduction to live football and the reason I still look out for Leeds results.
