  1. That is in the process of being organized as far as I know, you may have company that day.
  2. Please lets not turn this into a bunfight. That said it is fair to say that the trails need more ongoing care/work than is currently the case. The question should be - what can we do to remedy this? Edit - I took a ride through Boulders yesterday, for the first time in months, and it is nothing short of astonishing how the tree cover helps preserve the integrity of the trail. The open trails must be a nightmare in comparison.
  3. A hard call that one. It's nice to get through a section that scares the snot out of you but how do you determine what that level is? What frightens me may (almost certainly will be) a piece of cake for many others.
  4. The answer is yes. It's the new bike.Regarding the maintainence guys - after a month or so of no work they all buggered off and found alternative employment. Since then there has been no ongoing maintainence as far as I know. The embargo on work up there was a mistake but we need to get past it and look at what can be done now.
  5. This was great fun last year. Will the onsite camping be available again this year?
  6. It does doesnt it.I have taken many photos of obstacles that looked like the side of a cliff to me at the time only for them to look like the mildest gradient when I show the picture to anybody.
  7. Deon had some guys that were up there s few times a week and it seemed to help. A couple of times I pointed out stuff that needed looking at or attending to and it was fixed the next day (and yes I do spend an unhealthy amount of time up there )
  8. The bit we spoke about last week.
  9. Your fall was at a different spot, sounds like this happened at the earlier, bigger/steeper, section. That said it is a dangerous sport and any fall anywhere can end badly.
  10. Well done, it's nice to know that you can look to others for help when it all goes wrong.
  11. Thanks for the reply. That sounds like Mamba and those rocks can be tricky but it does sound like he had a very unlucky fall. Please let us know how he gets on.
  12. Any idea which part of Tokai? Which single track? It might help the trail guys to see if there is something especially dangerous or if it was an unfortunate one off incident.By the way a sixty year old zooting around Tokai gives me great hope for the future, you can be 'elderly' and still have fun/ride like a hooligan.
  13. Then parks need to up their game a bit - https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/138648-tokai-crash-monday-21414/
  14. Jeez thats rough, hope he recovers fully and gets to ride again.
  15. Haven't heard anything about this, you might get a better response if you ask in the Tokai section of the forum.
  16. One of the guys we rode with today lost his cycle computer at Tokai, we think it might have been when he had an unintended get off at the small rock roll towards the end of Mamba. If anybody spots it please give me a shout. Thanks.
  17. Quite a few in the classified section, maybe start with this one - https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/85430-cannondale-mtn-bike/
  18. When you are panting and sweating like a dog getting the bike out of the car you just know it is going to be one of those days.
  19. Went for a slog around Tokai yesterday with Msyhem, Capricorn and my son Ben in the mid afternoon heat. Great fun but the heat sucked the life out of you.
  20. Not in Capetown to be fair.
  21. Mamba is looking really tired at the moment, overgrown and badly eroded. The first rock drop/roll is looking likely to end somebody badly very soon.It looks like lack of maintainance is taking its toll on what was a lovely piece of track. Is there any work or maintainance planned for it in the near future?
  22. Ah but does he paint it matte black and then scratch it? My sister in Holland told me that is what a lot of guys do when I asked how come every bike I saw looked old and scratched up. Apparently it makes them less likely to be stolen.
  23. Why then, when told it was fake, did the customer then purchase an original? Right there he coughed up for what he wanted, pretty much destroying any affordability argument.
  24. He was only told that it was a grey import after he began to question the bikes authenticity.
