  1. Maybe it might be in your best interest to address customer concerns with them . I personally dislike dealing with Cycle lab as they sold me my first carbon bike which was to big (they probably just tried to clear their dead stock.) Then on my next bike (Which was won on the TDF Fantasy comp and CL were paid by Omnico to assemble the bike) the service guy cut my Carbon fork steerer to short and this was never resolved neither was the fact that they never put the BB Cableguide cap on so all water and dirt go straight onto my cable and omnico say i have to purchase the whole set not just a cap. So since then they were last on my list but thought i'd give them another go seen as your name is now linked to them. Tuesday i made an online purchase for a pair of pedals, https://cyclelab.com/look-keo-classic-2-white-road-pedals/  (Screenshot below as they might change the description on the website after this and i don't trust them to be honest about it)

Well i just recieved my order

OH no wait a minute, i got a demo or used pair not new :cursing:  :cursing:  :cursing:

I saw the " Sale " and was happy, in all honesty if they disclosed the pedals are demo i probably would have still purchased it but the f'n cheek of them to sell it as NEW and then go on their merry way is disgusting. Like i say this isn't my first rodeo with them either. So CWC this is who your name is now linked with be careful it doesn't get burnt.

I've had four dealing with CL 3 were disastrous, 1 was good only because the FSA agent came to my rescue.

oh my word that is bad....are you sure they were not selling on behalf of a friend lol.....

  2. Hi Guys

So I finally got my Magneeto cycling jacket and ordered it in size L.

The jacket looks awesome and specs are relative to my needs however I find that the detachable sleeves are completely mismatched in sized compared to the gilet. I've fitted on the medium jacket and it barely closes around my midsection but the medium sleeves are definitely a more appropriate fit for the large gilet

I am approximately 1.74m tall and weight 80kg's and large is generally my appropriate size.

I have taken this up with first ascent and I must say they have been very accommodating and efficient thus far. I have taken the jacket to their head office and they are having a look at it for me so now I'm waiting anxiously for their feedback.

Anyone else come across this problem?

maybe a bit of a boep pens? :P

  3. My wife has just messaged me to say that two of her running friends were attacked on Zevenwacht just past Bakwena Spa this morning. All their stuff stolen and the one lady badly hit with a pipe.

Freaking sucks as I've always felt safe to ride on my own there. Seemingly not anymore. Stay safe out there peeps

    :cursing:  :cursing:  :cursing:

did this incident happen on the mtb trail?

  4. You gotta love South Africa, with all the entitlement going around here.

    Cyclists vs Cars

    Cars vs Cyclists

    Road Cyclists vs MTB's

    MTB's vs Gravel Travel

    Young vs Old

It all seems to me a lot like the old White vs Black slant, or the new Black vs White angle, whereby people seem to think "they" are in the right, and everyone else must just p!$$ off...

    I am so over it.

(...grabs hat and heads off to the bar)

you sir have bigger fish to fry......you have a drinking problem :P

  5. Disagree.

I have built 'bottom of the range' bikes up to spec better than the Brand's "top of the range" bike.

For some or other reason people (and more so bike manufacturers) think in the lines of the motor industry.

BMW 3series can never be a 7 series.  Understandable.

But a Cannondale "Scalpel 4" can become better than a "Scalpel Team" by doing upgrades over time

then you agree rather than disagree with the dude. that is exactly what he is saying

  6. Hey everyone - I hope you guys can give some insight.

I ride a Santa Cruz Tallboy 3 C X01 Eagle with Maxxis Ardent Race and Maxxis Minion DHF (~12.5kg). Absolutely fantastic and perfect trail bike which I purchased about 8 months ago when I started to cycle and only bike i use/have.

Since then I have surprised myself and began placing quite well in MTB races. (top 5 in smaller races, and +-10 in much larger races). Stats/seeding wise, i'm about 6% behind the winner in the bigger races.

I love my bike, but what sort of gain can one realistically expect, if any, when changing to an XC orientated bike when racing like the Scott Spark RC 900 World Cup, or S-Works Epic compared to the Tallboy?

Is my Tallboy doing the job fine and I simply need to get fitter, or would changing to one of the XC bikes when racing make a noticeable difference over my Tallboy?

with stats like that after 8 months I say get the XC bike for sure. After all, you can afford it.

  7. Today I noticed that my saddle felt like it was a little spongy and over bumps very rigid. Turns out the seat is snapped in the middle. The off season has not been good for my waist but this is rediculous.

    Anyone else had this?

    Anyone know distributors?

Happened to my tundra as well
  8. i had to uncleat because some idiots couldn't ride over a two metre stretch of (flat) rocks.  by this time we were in a long line going up a ST climb, so i couldn't help but spew out some expletives at them.

at wolwefontein i had to resort to riding over the grass as another poephol kept hanging on his brakes on this barely technical ST.  it didn't spoil the day entirely, but it did grind me a bit.  thank goodness for the water/beer tables which meant that a lot of people pulled out of my way and i could go at my own pace.

You too was once an 'idiot' when starting to mtb. I started in A batch bone crusher and stuck to the front quarter and experienced no traffic or 'idiots' as you call them. Maybe you need to work on your fitness and up your seeding for this race.

I personally liked the previous years route better. The timing was also messed. I know of some of my riding buddies time that was mistakenly slashed by 1 hour. They said that the time keeping guy shouted out 4hrs something instead of 5hrs something....

  9. Hi Guys

I would like to find out what I need to do/change to do the following:

I currently have a 1x11, 11-46 XT set-up and would like to upgrade my cassette to the Sunrace 11-50t. What would i need to change replace to make this happen?

    Appreciate your assistance.

You will need the cassette and a new chain. I changed my cassette from 11-42 to 11-50 sunrace and the shifting is smooth & crisp up and down on a GS cage.
  10. Does anyone know if we can register on the morning at the venue as it has been in the past?  I only see pre-registration up until tomorrow listed on the website.

    Registration:

There's only two days of race number collection left so be sure not to miss it.

24th May: Cape Town Thule 12 to 5:30pm

    25th May: Darling Brewery 5 to 8pm

    no registrations on the day.
