  1. Powertap on a mountain bike????
  2. Yo Wes, nice one mate. Lets hook up for aspin with that camera. We can Bos too and hopefully I won't fall off....!
  3. Not sure I would agree - the 5.5 means 5.5 inches of travel for the frame. That would suit a 130 - 140mm fork would it not? Try both - see whats comfy, especially if you plan to ride long distance rides.
  4. Keep 'em pictures posting! Days of our Cycles....? What about Bottom Brackets and the Beautiful
  5. Ok I am told Dragon Sports may have replacement items for the hubs - 021 461 6252. Let us hubbers know about the success or availability of spares....
  6. Rush Sports deal with Formula brakes, but I am not sure if the Formula Hubs are from the same factory / manufacturer. Give them a shout though 033 346 2300. I also have a pair of Formula E-Hubs so knowing the info will help.... I'll do some digging!
  7. Generally you can spray doom on your jeans if you hiking and they don't dig it. Onto skin may noy be such a hot idea though.... What about rubbing tabard or similar on your legs before you go ride? Also, the little critters only carry the tick bite fever strain at certain times of year - check when they are and just be careful and check once you have finished your ride. Other than that beer makes most problems go away - vast quantities naturally
  8. Looks interesting Rock - keep pic's coming. Got myself an MRP and running 1x9 - best thing I ever did! The Shova likes it too.....
  9. Hmmmm beeeeer. Haven't had one all week - darn flu! Beer goes with all bike servicing, seems to work like a penetrating oil on those sticky buggers. Or does it just make me stronger - Like Arnie! Dude, single speed your steed and enjoy the simplicity. Just don't ride the out ride with that mate of yours that likes to climb hills...I did and I cried a little - B)
  10. Nooit, damn staffie is to heavy, not fluffy and the teeth scratch my bike!
  11. RodTi - look at the end of the ride scenario too... Geared bike: Clean bike - all the nooks and crannies (plenty if its a full sus) Dry bike - all the nooks and crannies (ditto above) Clean Chain (could be split link, in parafine, good shake, leave to dry - if you that way inclined) Clean cables (anywhere between 1 and 3 - if you have something for suspensin my bru') Clean gears (anywhere between 1x9 to 3x10!!! Gear development is a beeeech) Lube chain Lube cables Sit back, rest aching back (cause wife made you buy garden implements not that nice park tools bike stand) and drain beer.. SS Bike: Clean bike - less nooks cause its a hardtail, super skinny steel and all and all cause its like ooober dude! Dry bike - nah, to much effort after all the lass from the full sus rig Clean chain....and Lube chain DONE Stand back drain beer and think if wife will cotton on to the pedigree fluffy bloody dog is missing and that your bike has this new blue thing hold it up in the garage at eye level.... Either which way - you going to take all the necessary *** with you on your bike so you don't have to walk home (yes we have all had to do it and all felt like a **** cause you dress the part, road the part for 5km and then forgot that damn part on the kitchen table) But keeping the single speed clean is so easy even that pedigree fluff ball can be used as the squeegee!!! Happy trails ya'all!!!
  12. Capricorn - shot man. I was looking at a Blackspire on CRC. But if MRP are available locally thats cool! I have a XCX guide on my one bike and it is great. Do you have contacts of the distributer or a bike shop that will retail?
  13. You know me to well Droo! Well, seeing as though my On One has ISCG tabs on the frame, why not take the chain tension up there and then can do away with the DMR SS tensioner at the hub. Cleaner lines, easier set up and if you get a puncture - just pop the wheel out.... And its something different to try - I need a bike shop!
  14. I suppose it would help if I said where as well - looking in general Cape Town area, but prepared to venture further a field via post - SHOT
  15. So looking for a chain tensioner that mounts to ISCG (not ISCG 05 by the way) frame tabs- all i can find are ones on CRC or the like. BUT, I would rather support local industry - so if you know of something drop me a line...
  16. Seen those Aerozine ones bend pretty easily. Either SLX or Stylo in my opinion, XT is nice and all, but with the trickle down effect the SLX is pretty much XT from last season. And Truvativ stuff needs a specific BB.
  17. It was awesome to finally see some WChamps MTB on the telly this weekend. Well done super sport!!! Now, as for the presenters....eish. Time for some new ones that know what they talking about when it comes to the gavity arena!
  18. Hey Yumeya Go to Revolution Cycles on Bree street and chat to Stirling / Nick. They have a pretty wide range of Endura shorts and some of their other products. Or give them a call on 021 423 5191

    MTB Baggeys

Bought some Cannondale ones from ChunkeyMunkey a while back for that price - AWESOME! Otherwise Endura and Fox make some really nice and pricey ones. Also have heard good things about First Accent baggies available at Sportsmans. Range from 300 to 800 or so. Otherwise a nice pair of cycle shorts and baggies from Mr Price...
  21. I've built one - its pretty easy. The tricky bits are getting the cable tension and setting the limit screws to the right dpeth. I found an old 105 derailler was great for the three speed. Bear in mind you can't use single speed gears, they need to be ramped and the teeth are shaped at the top to allow the chain to move when shifting. You also need a handful of spacers to get everything in the right place and making sure the locknut on the end of the cassette is good and tight. If you want to run a 1x9 it is pretty simple. Just look into purchasing a MRP or E-13 XC chain guide to make sure the chain stays on the ring. The best ratio I have investiagted is a 34x34 or 36 at the rear. So you can climb but still have gear range on the flats and DH. I am currently running a 1x9 with 32x 11-32 cassette and it works like a charm. The MRP 1x XCX chain guide I have is also fantastic - worth every penny. One just needs to finesse the chainline a little. Oh, yes, the chain guide only works with external BB cups. PM if you would like more details or pics... AND JUST REMEMBER - BOMB HILLS, NOT COUNTRIES...
  22. Mark the package as old clothing - saves someone with sticky fingers having an inquisitive look?
  23. Yeah its a skinny roadie holding up a mountainbike frame...... Love the 69er.......
  24. If anyone has a contact for Jaco that would be great - need some suspension sorted by the man... please post the number if you can or pm if need be.
  25. Still, should be able to fix it. I broke the shifter mechanism inside also with an altercation with a tree, or the rock next to it....but ultimately i had to lie down on the trail! NO, that 4 sided nut should be nice and firmly tightened - but by hand only! Its the same nut you use to get to the cable for services/replacement so don't over tighten. Maybe a little Wynnflon or WD40 will help with the sticky insides?
