  1. Kiwi - when they bringing out a Ti 456 Summer Season - ULTIMATE TRAIL BIKE PORN Come on, I want one already!
  2. Looking good Rock - rocking the 1x9 there - NICE! Enjoy the ride...
  3. Bike shop guy = chop! They are both competing at the highest level, last I looked both were on the podium in equal measures.... Fox generally stiffer, RS generally more tunable. Maybe 4-5 years back the story would have been different, but now guys are catching up to Fox (who realistically, were market leaders for a while) if not have caught up.... Reba / Sid = Fox F Series forks
  4. Yes it should work. Check with your LBS and get the spacers right when you install - my riding partner cooked the spline on a Race Face crankset in one easy step cause he got the spacers wrong and stuffed up the spline! Not amuzed he was.
  5. Hope Pro2's on ZTR Olympic / Crest / 355 / Alpine rims - you choose! Strong light fast. From CRC. Do it
  6. Interesting, how much do they weigh? I mean putting 1000 dots on my bike might weigh it down..... just kidding! How often do guys strip and repaint the bikes? And Ingonis has a point, have any bikes with the micro dot been recovered?
  7. Now this is more like it! Big H - this is actually the sketch I thought of when I posted the thread....thanks for the inspiration!!! I have also had a good look at the following sites if anyone is interested, thanks to EigerSA for the prod in the right direction: http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Home-Bicycle-Repair-Stand/ http://www.bikehacks.com/bikehacks/2010/03/8-bombproof-diy-bike-repair-stands.html So hopefully once I can get this stand made up I'll revisit with a couple o'pichers and a sketch or 2....
  8. All valid comments about woman hold bikes, being in the kitchen and of course chains need to be included in that topic. However not entirely the suggestions I was looking for... Come on dudes, there must be some technical ideas or pic's out there just to get the idea's flowing? I will search further as recommended by those above as well, going to get in k@k when I get grease all over the kitchen towels though.... I have the Park Tools bench / wall mounted item. Standard clamp with brackets to suit....only not enough space on a wall and no workshop for a bench . So would like to get some foldable tripod-like legs and fix the clamp onto that - just concerned the legs aren't far enough apart to ensure it stays stable... I seem to remember a sketch stating a base diameter of around 750mm Absolutely not - one could not handle the rath of a Hubber scorned, hell, I have just been able to get away from the rath of the woman from the weekend ****-ups!
  9. Hey Hubbers looking for info, pic's, dimensions, sketches on the back of cigarette boxes or napfins for a bike stand. Keen to have the legs, center post etc made up as I have a clamp. Any info advice would also be welcome. Shot ou'ens! MT B)
  10. PIC#1 - easy to fix, just need spacers / washers to take up the gap. I am surprised E13 didn't send some with the bash guard... PIC#2 - Not sure about the indentation, on my MRP it is on the BB side. I think the chainguide then fits directly onto the ISCG guide on the BB / Crankset side. Pic#3 - Bash guard would be bolted onto the crankset using the chainring bolts. Guard is fixed on the pedal / outside of crankset. So if I am right - great, otherwise I am sure there is a hubber who can correct me. Maybe also post this under the "Gravity" section of the hub?
  11. Hahaha, the awesome Flexistem - how to take a marsh mellow and turn it into a stearing device. I remember seing a full sus Girven for 1025 ZARS and was so besotted with its canary yellow and blue set up, I would go to the bike shop jus to look at it for hours at a time! First bikes were 18 speed with friction thumb shifters - stuff all suspension, just kilo's of steel to keep it real with Cheng Shin tires and SHIMANO SIS!
  12. Dear old Danny - makes it look so easy, and completly out of my league....DAMN YOU! I wonder how many crank spindles he snapped as a laaitjie to get to where is is at the moment - some of those drops are killers, literally!
  13. Don't bother - Finish line Green chain lube does the same thing. I have been servicing my Mavics for 3+ years with it and still on the first freehub body.
  14. Yip feel would be different - keep it real and have steel! Otherwise PM Kiwi as he is THE MAN with regards to On One products.... What are you doing looking at 100mm bikes? You know the On One is going to make you want to go jump off something!
  15. Nice bike dude - layback seatpost should be your next investment....
  16. Fizik Gobi all the way...
  17. Potentially rough trails on the race? Look rather at volume. Its standard cape town riding - if its dry, its quick fast rolling treads. Ifs raining, something that sheds...simple neh?
  18. Oooo that thread could get rather interesting! I suggest The Crow and Brad start one up! Brad - are the black and gold bits on the fox kit custom or standard? I've never seen that before...
  19. Simple - Morewood Zula! Support local cause its lekker! Its dubbed a XC bike, but can handle a DH course in the right hands. Difference between trail and XC - XC is 80/100mm sometimes 120mm travel, agressive geometry ie, ass up head down, and weight is always an issue... Trail bike is 120mm to 150mm, can tackle an XC course but will generally look for the line less ridden and something to jump off/over at some point. Geometry is more relaxed and weight is not generally to much of an issue, unless you want the puppy light! And trail bikes are just so much fun! And weight is easy to solve - how deep is your pocket???
  20. Nice to see they have installed a cable station on the back of signal hill...
  21. Yo Monkeyboy - what chain tensioner is that and how is it working? BB mounted or have you got ISCG tabs on the frame?
  22. Rock, at this rate you may as well use condoms (new or used - your choice), paper towel with varnish or coakie pen to colour in the chip marks! Maybe you should sit down and have a long chat with your chain and explain the merits of looking after its associated chainstay couzin - couzin! OK BS aside - ride a singlespeed - no mess no fuss
  23. Yip JB is the man for the job!
  24. RP23 is a far more superior shock and more costly - that would be my call for the change. Either that or they (Morewood) don't think the average man on the street needs that much choise for their suspension...? Also may be a weight thing, I think Monarch is a little lighter. The trick is in the numbers for thr RP range: RP2 - 2 setting points for the suspension, namely platform on or gate open RP3 - 3 settings, namely gate open or 2x platform settings RP23 - now this is where it gets interesting. 2x gate settings and 3x platform settings, hence the 23 in the name. The gate settings are open (i.e fully active) or closed (i.e. platform on). Then you have the 3x platform settings, soft medium and hard. I have the RP23 on my Shova and I generally don't use the shock to its full capacity, but i am a person who likes having the options. An RP3 would do just fine on a Zula. Either shock can be used for pretty much most bikes (A 6.7inch Trek Remedy has a RP23 for instance with a longer stroke), just as long as the correct length and shock stroke is used. Bigger bikes would benefit from something like the RP23 with boost valve or larger air can - these are available now (think the Remedy has the bigger can...?) The Monach i have ridden on a Zula, and the only nice thing for me is that the gate setting is on or off - simple. Other than that I have heard a range of reports on the shock so best would be to test ride and decide what suits. Hope that helps, if I have got anything wrong then please correct so that Rouxtjie is an inform oukie.
  25. Yes you can. Its an internal spacer that needs to be moved / inserted, so not 'adjustable on the fly' like a Talas. If you search for the manuels on the fox wesite they will show you how and the spacers that you need. Fork is only adjustable in 20mm increments. Happy fiddling
