  1. Yeah, the drivetrain (besides the chain) should last about 3 chains. Therefor 3 chains should be rotated regularly to get the most of your drivetrain. The chain wears out about 3x faster than the rest, and a worn chain accelerates the wear on the rest. So for example, instead of replacing the drivetrain every year, you could replace the drivetrain every 3 years if you rotate 3 chains regularly.
  2. I think that any good LBS will be able to do this. The Stans hubs are easy to service. I think it should only be the bearings that needs replacing and bearings are easy to get. My LBS serviced my Stans hubs.
  3. I would not recommend the tubeless conversion with non-tubeless ready rims. Besides the extra weight you will need to replace the rim-tape about every six months and this money is much better spent on getting proper wheels like Stans or American Classic which will not need rip tape at all and works perfectly with tubeless ready tires and saves some weight too.
  4. Just be careful not to get any water on your chain at the water table, cause it will rinse the Squirt off. I have found the ultimate chain cleaning method - put Squirt on the chain and ride through some wet fynbos - nothing cleans your chain better than this.
  5. But you were Wyatts slipstream all the way? And we all know that Wyatt dude can ride a bike dat dit poep!
  6. I am very privileged to be able to ride Lourensford every weekend. It is just magnificent mtb riding, I wish I had taken some pics today, but here are some I got off the net: http://www.magicmountainprod.com/gallery/Lourensford.jpg http://www.entries.energyevents.co.za/uploaded_images/events/med_8dqlLKN.jpg http://www.capetownmagazine.com//media_lib/r2/220257af21ec0c95ac7d0690ea7c99af.img.jpg
  7. And moving back on the saddle will be gay. Is this saddle supposed to be used by heterosexual men? I think not.

    Rugby...

A half a gap anywhere but inside the Province 22 with Aplon in possesion and it`s all over. The Curry Cup will stay where it belongs.
  9. How exactly did the fall happen that both soles got ripped like that? Did you get detached from the bike and the cleats stayed in the pedals and ripped off the soles? Or did you land on your feet on rocks at speed? The details of the fall will indicate if it is a faulty product or not.
  11. I hope he does the Epic also, there is a big hole in SA MTBiking after Burry, but I understand that the Tour is much bigger and it will be great to see him in the Tour again. It really looked like he was not going to come back but here he is now out riding the Cape Pioneer Trek.
  12. Thanks to all here helping building trails in Eden it is a great place to ride.
  13. ONE OF MY PET HATES WHEN PEOPLE TAKE A PERFECTLY FUN TRAIL AND REMOVE THE OBSTACLES SO THAT THE TEA PARTY ON BICYCLES CAN ALSO PEDAL ALL THE WAY THROUGH. LEAVE THOSE PERFECT TRAILS BE!
  14. Why does not having a noob bag cause punctures?

    Giant dual susp

The Anthem 29er has got a very long chainstay for size medium and small.
  16. I tape a tube and tire lever to the seatpost. Multitool and stick on pathes in camelbak pocket and mini pump in shirt pocket. I don`t use bombs ever. This is all I need for mtb.
  17. Maybe the South-Easter cleaned up after the race. Well done South-Easter!
  18. I did the route today and there was no litter! If the route was cleaned up after the event well done to organizers! If not well done to the riders!

    Rugby...

What I do not understand about rugby is why leave out the most dangerous player in the world out of the national team? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU9MfcBkffY&hd=1
  21. Pilates will solve your problem but get a dually anyway.
  22. The Shield is light and very fast but got enough grip as a rear. It`s only 2.1 so not enough volume as a front but the perfect race tire on the rear. They seated with a floor pump on my AC wheels and held air perfectly without stans. On the Crest rim it required a compressor to seat but held air perfectly. I`ve used 4 of them so far and 2 of them got tiny sidewall cuts before the tread was worn. I won`t recommend it as an everyday tire but it`s my favourite racing rear.
  23. Try the Ikon Exo, great as a rear tire.
  24. Racing Ralph - I do not like seeing my R650 tire being dissolved when I ride a tar section. That`s what my Ikons are for - to not dissolve like that. But when I want fast I switch over to my AC Race wheels with a Ralph on the front and a Ritchey Shield on the back.
  25. Great to have John-Lee back! Good luck to him he sure is a great talent. Would be great to see him win the Epic someday.
