  1. Same goes for cyclists. I encounter more cyclists/commuters than joggers riding on the wrong side when I cycle, in traffic. This is very dangerous.
  2. Gonna be running out of gears at high speed big time.

This is a new route and will be a lot better than the old route. Done this 2 times and enjoyed it, never got held up. It`s fun to pass 30 mtbroadies on 50m of downhill.
  4. Nightrides are allowed as far I know as long as you pay. The pay dude at the gate leaves like 5-6pm and then you may not enter after he left, unless you get the annual permit then you can ride anytime cause you do not have to pay at the payment dude.
  5. With a Vipa at around R50k the TallBoy (a great bike yes) but not worth the money.
  6. Seb will have to give this car a boy name, a girl name would just be too weird.
  7. With Conti it seems the bead of the Protection and UST versions are NOT the same: Protection: http://www.conti-online.com/www/linkableblob/bicycle_de_en/6807712/data/Protection_illu_uv-data.png UST: http://www.conti-online.com/www/linkableblob/bicycle_de_en/6807230/data/ust_250-data.png
  8. 18" 26er -> 16.5" 29er.
  9. "UST tyres are heavier and more expensive as they need to be completely air tight. UST rims are heavier as they have two layers of metal, one for the spoke holes, and then another undrilled layer to make them airtight. Plus UST rims need different spokes and nipples as there is no access from the other side. Tubeless Ready tyres are cheaper and lighter as they can be slightly porous, yes you need to add sealant but most people run sealant in their UST tyres for the added puncture protection anyway. Tubeless ready rims are lighter as they rely on rimstrips (or yellow tape for Stans) to make the spoke holes airtight, rather than more metal. Stans (and possibly others) also use standard nipples and spokes." http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/whats-the-difference-between-tubeless-tl-ready-and-ust-tyres
  10. Hahah that is a lot of mis-information. Maxxis, Schwalbe and Conti does put UST on their 26" tires. The reason why they do not make UST tyres in 29er is because it`s too heavy and because "tubeles-ready" works well enough. Protection and UST is not the same! Exo and UST is not the same! Snakesin and UST is not the same!
  11. And here we are shocked but are we powerless to fight this? Are we still free? NO
  12. This looks very much like a hate-crime: "the other is stabbing in a frenzy".
  13. LCHF? No thanks. I believe in low carbs high protein for weight loss, but only when exercise levels are low. When I go ride I need them carbs for fuel, so I try to stick to LCHP generally but before rides I switch to HC.
  14. Very glad I went Giant Anthem I`ve Scott no problems...
  15. Some of the Silverback bikes are good bikes, here is the "road bike" I went for and ended up using it off-road only: http://cdn.mos.bikeradar.com/images/bikes-and-gear/bikes/mountain/1335880734157-1pbyw0fnyj8kg-500-70.jpg
  16. I was also looking for a road bike as a way of training for mtb. My mtb is a dually. So I ended up buying a road bike which is a 29er carbon mtb hardtail which I thought I could use on the road. After a 1 year 6 months I have still not done any road riding with it, only mtb riding. So here is my advice to a mtb rider who wants a road bike: - get a 29er hardtail mtb - ride it off-road
  17. Spez Epic is a wannabee hardtail, and yes its damn fast, but the Vipa is the one I would go for, also a great race bike, but is more special than the Specialized.
  18. I hereby greet all of you for if I ever one day not greet you. Be greeted then. Yo
  19. MTB accidents will lead you to see specialists, for this you need to have gap cover or you will pay out of your own pocket.
  20. I miss the xc races. I did a few in the 90s and it was great fun. We did races between 1-5 laps of a coarse. There was no xcm and singletrack was taken for granted.

The route looks like basically the Delvera mtb trail plus the trails used for parts of the BurgerMTB and the new Dirtopia trails on the western side of Simonsberg. Potentially much more singletrack than the old route.

Very nice new route! MUCH better than the old route
  23. Wow I like the geometry - super short chainstays and dynamic head angle!
  24. Me, I want to guess. What do I win if I guess right?
  25. The 27.5 Anthems are nice bikes. It depends on what type of riding you want to do. I would chose the 29er for long distance and the 27.5 for singletrack fun or xc/everyday fun.
