  1. I've only heard good things about Castelli...
  2. I love my Edge 200, it just works, and is perfect if you're only looking for speed and distance.
  3. Agreed, better (lighter/cooler/more comfortable) than the R600 Giro I was using before.
  4. I live in Sunninghill, old start/finish point was perfect for me
  5. I've got X5 shifters and RD, and a Deore FD on my bike with a triple crankset.
  6. I can't bring myself to enter this one considering it normally costs me R15 entry to ride there!
  7. I've got a First Ascent pack, bladder didn't last more than 2 months (cap to close it broke). The bag itself is great though, but I'm going to get a Camelbak replacement bladder rather than a cheap one.
  8. This is what I do, I don't have a bike rack. I get a medium Momsen 29er into the backseat of my C Class easily - though I remove the seatpost as well which makes it a bit easier.
  9. 800 lumen is enough, I've done the Kia night races at Modderfontein with a 600 lumen handlebar light only. I did get myself a headlamp as well now, would still be fine without it though. I'm also doing this one.
  10. I've got UST/LUST Ardents front and back, lots of grip and bulletproof. Highly recommended.
  11. I'd go for the Momsen, generally the best bang for buck in that price range. I've been through this exercise twice and, spoiler alert, I now own two Momsens.
  12. Titan makes some really nice looking frames, especially in that carbon range
  13. I'm pretty sure that's the one I saw at Solomon's
  14. I saw one in Solomon's Woodmead last time I was there, around R900 I think.
  15. I still feel a little silly, seeing as all I needed to do was not walk around in them for hours after a ride!
  16. Right, thanks. Lesson learned. Going to carry a set of shoes to change into immediately after riding.
  17. Long story short, my pedals haven't been their usual silky smooth in and out selves on my last couple of rides, are these still okay or do I need to change them? They are only a couple of months old which is why I'm unsure...
  18. Northern Farm is the best place for a beginner in my opinion: well-marked, flat and easy routes, busy. I picked up a Johannesburg Mountain Biking Club pamphlet there yesterday - www.jmbc.org.za Looks like they do easy rides at 8-12kph for beginners, not sure where though.
  19. I've got a 2012 AL529 and a new AL651 Air, no issues with either one.
  20. So good that I bought two!
  21. Get the Momsen, but upgrade the shifters to at least Deore and get a wider handlebar if you can.
  22. I have both a 650b and a 29er., wheel size won't make a big difference, just keep riding and you will get stronger. Having said that, if you really want another bike, look at the Momsen AL651 Air as well.
  23. I've found 32GI and Hammer to be the only two worth taking. Only really bother with them for races.
  24. Yeah, agreed, sold a set of brakes the other day and I got multiple PM's before the first comment on the ad. It went to the guy quickest on the draw.
  25. If you guys have branches of Full Throttle down there, they stock a lot of Fox stuff.
