  1. Hi Gents I have a frame, fork, wheels and crank set, ready for a donation. Where can I drop them?
  2. Yea that's a crack. A replacement should be easy to come by. You shouldn't need to prove too much as the crack has propagated from a stress raiser. If you need some engineer references I am happy to help. My 2c is that there is a lay up issue on that frame, The cracks seem to be at the inter tubular links suggesting that there is probably some material missing. Finally, I had no idea specialized had such terrible build quality, look at the waves the deformation of the hole, I am surprised it lasted that long.
  3. My Tufo sealants have been great, and last pretty well.
  4. Single front ring, and toss it out.. best decision I ever made.

    SRAM XX1

yes it can be done... but there are cheaper ways.
  6. Send a pic... I will let you know if I can help...
  7. If I gave a (&@^# about a seeding I might care. Otherwise I ride my bike, have fun and enjoy. If I start in C or A it really makes no difference in my life.

  9. Ha ha, Happened to a mate of mine, got horribly side swiped, landed on his head. Got straight back up, I rode with him to the end of the race where he started talking "garbage". Took him through to medi-clinic and he had concussion. He called me the next day to ask how the race was, he had no recollection of being there at all, riding 65km, and spending the afternoon at the doc. He told me I was BSing him and when I bought him his bike back, it only clicked....
  10. I can supply wood/pallets and all the screws and nails/screws a project like this can dream of....
  11. Not too bad, in line with similar clinchers, but a very quick easy to use tyre.
  12. get formulas...
  13. I can put a spanner in the works... I have tubular clinchers... Tubby tyres that mount to clincher rims, yes they work pretty well, it will help make your decision to go pure tubby or not.
  14. My Hilux cost me 80k, I installed my own tracking...vehicle was found twice on the road out toward thabazimbi, second time cut into every thing look for the tracking device. It was on top of the fuel tank, with power from the tow bar. I also was held at screw driver point by some drunk/high, in a parking lot, put him through a fence for his trouble... A man with a young baby pulled a knife on me for a Hilux, I laughed a kicked him in the ankle, made sure he had a limp, for 8 to 10 weeks. Also got followed a few times, but I think they realised I was watching them and took them on a few laps of the blocks. So I got rid of it....

Cross Marks for the rear... Ikon up front...
  16. I have DT swiss end caps for QR 135, pull the caps and freebody, and run 142 TA 12mm Its around R1800, for both....
  17. Um, let me suggest separate bikes... Its easier on both parties....less romantic and a relationship saver...
  18. I am a little undecided, generally adjust my fork to suit my day. I run a lower pressure and a faster rebound for rougher racers, ( run 2-3 mm more sag). This improves the feel of the bike and keeps the front wheel in contact with the ground. A faster rebound keeps the shock from running out of travel. Its kinder to your hands, forearms and gives the bike a little more predictability but not slushy enough to push the fork through its travel. I come from a MX/endure back ground and my marathon bike up like an enduro machine.
  19. Keep your Tufo's firm. Anywhere from 7 to 1.5 bar. They can crease and it puts them off balance for a while...nothing serious a few hours pumped up and they fine. Store the wheels valve down so any water leaves the system, via the valve area, with its lack of glue/tape.
  20. yes it can be done. It mean building a second wheelset, with the disc hubs and road rims.
  21. + 1 on the seeding, or you need to be nearly super strong on your own. The average speed will need a lot of work.
  22. Toss the compact cranks and go to the standard. 53/39. This will give the top end you looking for, if you battle the climbs on a 11-23, 11-25 is an option, otherwise HTFU .Sram do an 11-27 but you need another rear mech shifter set for that.
  23. Any one else need, I have two old 26 inch wheelsets, and two fork and a frame. All need good homes.
  24. Here is my deal.... I hit a drunk pedestrian on her own in the middle of no-where at 20:00 on a Monday night. I can very clearly see in my memory the head hit the bonnet and blood splatter, the body ended about 120m from where I hit it. I initially though I had hit a kudu, but panicked when the castle bottle was wedged in the radiator. It was pretty traumatic, R150k damage and recovery fee, and if I hit a cyclist now who jumps and intersection, I will send the wife/kids/beneficiaries the bills. No one deserves to have that feeling, especially for fool on a bike. I had my first road ride this weekend since 2012, I was the only idiot cyclist track standing the red lights, most were bombing straight through. I caught the group on the open road, but I wont ride with them again.
  25. Swop over to the endura bearing, I run the MFG housing and reuse the housing with endura BB30 bearings. When they go. The PF system does not like water, install them with a generous grease layer and new o-ring between the cups and on the shaft, to limit water intake. Remove your cranks and dry the inner if an exceptionnal wet and watery ride has taken place. My one housing has its original bearing with 3000 + km on. The other lasted three training rides and a muddy rock man.
