  1. So what should a used, (but mint ) full 10 speed record titanium gruppo (incl. BB and headset) be advertised for ? And what should it be sold for ?
  2. Details ?
  3. I got matt black vinyl offcuts from one of the shops that vinyl wrap cars. To do the main triangle needed a few scraps and it looked like an old banger. 0.5sqm should be able to cover it. I'm replying here as somebody may have a contact or drives past a panel beater
  4. Nope. Just Cyclelab

There is also the road to Doolhof wine estate in Wellington. Nice out and back albeit a bit hot in summer.....
  6. As a contributor. Are we sure if Mr Nyati had a choice he would want a R12 000 bicycle ? Knowing how much people are struggling, would a more sensible plan not be to : a) pay off his stolen bike loan; b) buy a sensible (possibly road bike) to commute on; and c) give him the balance in cash to spend on school fees, groceries, etc. I'd be happy for my contribution to go that way.
  7. As a contributor, I am happy with this arrangement.
  8. Sounds nice. Perhaps I should do this on the weekend. Out on Saturday and back on Sunday....
  9. I'm not in Jhb at the moment so can't handle the logistics but am in for R500 as well.. ps. I like the Linden cycles idea. Not to far from Bromhof and good people.
  10. Mmmm, also not without questions of where his money comes from...
  11. This is NOT legal advice but the comments from an experienced labour lawyer I chatted to. Apparently, you carry the onus in a constructive dismissal case (that means you have to prove all the elements of constructive dismissal) and as Red Robin correctly says that is very difficult. Apparently, in almost all cases it is better to hang in there and if they do terminate your employment, you bring a unfair labour dispute/dismissal claim and the onus is now on them. (i.e. THEY have to prove the dismissal was fair). Apparently, this is a much better option, but join Solidarity as you thought of, and get them to fight on your behalf. In the meantime, do not resign but keep good notes of all interactions (keep a diary) and f*ck them up if they fire you.
  12. They didn't. Le Jeune was built by Francois du Toit in the Cape, and le Turbo was a brand Basil Cohen had built up in Babelegi IIRC.
  13. Watch the full video and check out how he build it. Well worth the watch.
  14. It was an ex-SAAF Spitfire and Larry Barnett got the local historic flight community and Atlas to commit plenty of money, expertise and thousands of man-hours to get it flying again on the premise that we would then have a national asset. I seem to remember that it was painted up to replicate the one Gen Bob Rogers (then Chief of the Airforce) flew in North Africa. But soon after the Spitfire was airworthy, Barnett took the money and ran leaving many very p1$$ed off people who had donated time and money behind. Edit: My memory was correct. I have looked at the pictures again and you can see the RR (for Robert Rogers) on the fuselage. Although, IIRC he flew a clipped wing Mk.IX one in WWII. He later flew mustangs and Sabres in Korea.
  15. As a starter, here are a few questions you can go and do some Google research on: Was Rikus Smit the seller or was he the seller's agent? Why do you say so? What are the facts and the legal principles that support your position ?If he was an agent, how does this affect your advice? Lets see what you come up with ...
  16. Perhaps you should stop digging a hole for yourself. Your commentary is either nonsense or irrelevant. It sometimes is both.
  17. What are your qualifications to expound on the law and to be an advocate of any stripe? So, "please bring to the discussion How, Where, or What you are basing you (sic) logic on" as it is not based on an well founded understanding of the law.
  18. Let's start at the beginning. Who is the seller ?
  19. You really are emotionally invested in this. It is actually not that important to anyone but the buyer, the seller and his agent. Ps. And when you have referenced legal or insurance remedies or regulations they have either been irrelevant or just plainly wrong.
  20. Long story, but one thing doesn't make sense: If you sold the bike for a friend of yours, why are you stuck with the problem ? Nowhere do you say, "hold on, let me talk to the seller and see if I can get him to refund your money", particularly as you only have his word that everything was fine. The seller neglected to tell you about the cracked FD and you didn't take the bike for a ride, you just went through the gears and boxed it. Surely the right thing to have done is to tell your mate when the OP contacted you the first time to refund the the cash and take his broken bike back?
  21. What time are they they off ?
  22. Oh, and the only piece of information useful to the community is the sellers name but I won't tell them what it is.
