    Ride for Sight

We BL caught the VC bunch just before the steps which was going to be a bad idea. There was a crash under the bridge heading towards the steps, both bunches were never going to fit through there at the same time. I found the public to be awesome, most stopped while we went past. Personally I had a good race, the legs went with 10km to go but luckily they came back.
  2. Best goodie bag in a very long time. Well done !!
  3. Only possible if you've down some serious training. R4S is almost 20km longer than 94.7, so unless you can now avg 60km/h I would doubt it.
  4. Yes people enter this race !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Now the avg speed is correct  Wish they'd state that the race is 103km, then all this could have been avoided.
  6. And just on Saturday LA was told he's in the clear. Obviously the Spanish doctors/pharmacists aren't as good as the American ones.
  7. You talking about the 3 guys that came down at about the 32km mark ? If so, they looked ok. The one guy got up and I'm guessing he continued, the cops stopped to help the other 2 guys but they also looked ok.
  8. The route is 103km. Last with an iBike I got 103km & this year with a Garmin I got 103km. I can imagine Team Canada kicking @ss in the tandem bunch and am I glad they got a puncture yesterday :-)
  9. Big up to team Canada on their tandem, they were super strong. When the BL bunch caught us (AL strugglers) there were a few hair raising moments but thankfully we all finished safely. Was a little slower than last year :-( Did just under 103km but I was seriously hoping it was 97km as the legs were finished at 90km.
  10. 3 guys went down in the A bunch at about the 32km mark and there was another rider (possibly an Elite) down just before. After last week, I'm happy that I finished safely.
  11. Keen on a chain. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=35028
  12. Don't like riding A as I normally get taught a serious cycling lesson but I like falling a lot less, so I'll ride A and hopefully the bunch will split early and I'll have a safe, quick ride until the end. Safety first !!!!
  13. AL for me & this time I'm going to start in AL and hopefully I'll have a much better race than Fast One (crashed).

    Fast One

6 of us came down at about the 50km mark in the B bunch. Trubie & I were two, don't know the other 4 guys. 2 of the guys were in serious pain and were waiting for the ambulance. While we were getting our wounds cleaned an ambulance came in with a lady that looked in pretty bad shape, she was taken to hospital. I have some road rash and the bike needs a little TLC.
  15. Sorry but now I'm going to disagree with you. There's only ONE option - CAMPY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go compact if you must even though at 47 you still at the prime, if you were 87 then I'd understand. Every now and then I ride with a 63yr old and he's got a normal crank and his cassette must be a 11-23 but could be a 11-21, you must see this man climb. So there's no excuse for a 47yr old man :D
  16. So when you starting your build ? I'm also sure that if you get stuck you just have to post your question on the hub and you'll get plenty of advise. Just Do It !!!!!
  17. Rob it's a lot easier than you think and you don't actually need a lot of tools. Since you have time you can take a little longer to build the bike, which means you have time to research your every move. I don't often build bikes but when I have to I do and I normally get it done in a hour, then it just needs to be tweaked to the way I want it. (I'm referring to road bike, MTB I have no clue but imagine it can't be much harder) You can also get awesome deals on the hub so the bike doesn't have to cost you way more than if you bought it complete.
  18. Everything seems to be working 100% in Google Chrome
  19. Change is good !!
  20. If you can borrow a bike to try great but since you've already joined a team it's almost too late. The best option is to get yourself to a bike shop and get measured up. Then you can decide if you want a second hand bike or a new bike. You'll probably need an XS and these are difficult to find second hand (Pedal Dancer on here has one for sale, a Bianchi with Campy). Get yourself triathlon shoes, don't even bother with road shoes.
  21. Really doubt it was the low GI drink. I've done a 160km ride on 32Gi & I had energy all the way. I think your problem was the Christmas pudding and if you were sick then your body took a beating. That said, you probably went out to fast and then popped. To make up 10min in 25km you must have been going balls to the wall and then POP !!! I was off the bike for 2.5 weeks while on holiday, also ate like a pig & drank like a fish. When I got back on the bike she just didn't want to go like before, obviously the 2.5weeks rest the bike had was a very bad idea. Mark (MDW) from 32Gi has written an article about diet leading up to a race/ride and how important it is and one can't only rely on the carb drink of the day. I think it's under the 32Gi thread.
  22. You can also have a look at the BODY FOR LIFE training program & eating plan. Think this was the original one and the rest followed. Shakes are there to make your life a little easier as you'll be eating 6 times a day but you can always substitute a shake with real food. Good luck !!
  23. RIP !! I rode that road earlier.
  24. @Wonder Woman You looked pretty good this morning And for a MTBer you even greeted  What has worked for me is using 32Gi. When I used a high Gi carb drink on my Saturday & Sunday rides I was finished by lunch time. Using 32Gi I can make it to my normal bedtime and I'm riding at a higher intensity. See you Tuesday
  25. You sure about this ? Isn't it SRAM ? LA - SRAM Contador - SRAM Evans - don't know
