  1. The heck? if this was meant to bait, its bait of excellent quality Just came to check what was being said about current cycling here and I'm happy to see the bird exploit human lockdown to nest in a nature reserve. Conservation is best!
  2. Oange seal is rated as 3rd place in effectiveness and most expensive between the comparisons in the link. Granted I've never had any sealant seal any puncture so am very biased, but why is there such a hype for Orange seal? Teach this sealant hater a bit, please?
  3. not picking on you, just the first reply I thought this quote to be relevant to. The article thankfully does state the following: "Regardless of mask-type, fewer coronavirus particles get through to people wearing face coverings, according to a new paper that will be published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine shortly. Fewer particles could result in milder infections if the virus manages to slip through." but also "A neck gaiter, an item beloved by runners, ranked worse than no mask at all." So eh. The article graphs aren't consistent either, so take it with a pinch of salt, whoever cares about that.
  4. From another thread in case you haven't seen it., its a good guideline but not sure if it will protect one in court https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/187827-riding-times/?p=3753676
  5. while everyone is discussing '26" bad', I'm looking for a replacement s-works epic frame... hit me up
  6. The attackers probably tried getting decent service from garmin in rosebank and felt a ransomware attack is required for them to address their incompetence
  7. a bit late to the party, but on the 2 occasions I've dealt with ASG (assuming the Olympus branch), they gave customer service unlike any other bike shop has in this country. Granted this was since Johan has been there, somewhere early 2018 was the first instance. I was really impressed and enjoyed the visits, but besides the email correspondence, I made no online orders. Explains all the random kudo's I've been getting since the specialized was written off. I'd rather have the spez back
  8. Thanks for sharing Frosty. I've been looking to move away from garmin myself, so its good to see a locally applied alternative.
  9. a generic steel mtb bike can weigh between 20-30kg from my experience and I've ridden a 26kg 26er at 70kmh downhill, without the additional weight of a motor. they're trying to regulate too many standards under 1 rule, at least
  10. My point exactly, why ask for more tax when it will do nothing to improve circumstances revolving around cyclists or road use
  11. Take on one issue at a time, because you're going to need the focus to defend your flawed suggestions. They play carmageddon because everyone is entitled to thinking they have the right of way always, not because the rules say "they aren't allowed to run me over". Also if you think the k53 is a good form of driving then this whole post of yours is moot already. I'll gladly pay a special tax that only gets spent on building/maintaining cycling lanes and pedestrian markers to cross over and keep out of cycling lanes.
  12. cars still try and run me over when I ride my motorcycle lawfully licensed with all taxes applied, what makes you think adding taxes and licenses for bicycles will make it any different to what it is. Sounds delirious
  13. Amazon good, aramex bad. Just be ready to be on the ball with aramex as they've displaced and incorrectly named several parcels for 2 different people in our office.
  14. because you are trying to justify breaking the law and near manslaughter, which is abhorrent. You clearly don't know the rules of the road and you're a danger to society as well.
  15. I received a call from this number (+27 63 798 9435). His name is listed as "Daniel" on Whatsapp. Dude kept phoning me out of the blue after I posted my wanted advert for a mtb. He said he had a fairly new s-works epic and wanted a ridiculously low price for it. First red flag was the price, 2nd was that he immediately said "but lowest I will go is X-20%" and third red flag was when he was pushy, requesting a security deposit because "some oke from cape town said he is at his computer ready to make deposit, but I figured you were closer and it would be easier" (4th red flag was the persistent calls, like who harasses someone like that if you want to make a sale?). When I said I'm not making any payment without seeing it, he acted as though he was insulted or whatever, but still agreed for me to come view it this Thursday evening if it is still available. Of course to no surprise, today I see the number blocked me so I have no doubt it was a scammer and also a massive creep.
  16. Your outlook and cognisance on this incident is disgusting to say the least.
  17. Hi Nordicelf, I'm sorry to hear about the awful attempt at your bike and life. Would you mind please sharing a google pin of the location you described?
  18. I've already contacted carbonbikerepair and received a quote for repairs and partial respray, but they only quoted for the frame and that doesn't solve the expenses for the other parts broken, like the spokes etc. Ideally I'd like 1 quote for everything so as to make it simpler for insurance. Thank you for the suggestion! I'm near the area Sunday, will go take a look
  19. I did a search and read through most of the results on "carbon repair" on this forum, but I'm at a loss of where to take my bike for a COMPLETE repair quote after a bad fall. I'm particularly looking for a good place between alberton and the Jhb highway ring (so not benoni or fourways please). I've emailed Complete Cyclist in Randburg, as they deal with Specialized bikes and mine is an old Specialized, but 3 days later no response. Can anyone please advise a good place to go to between the areas mentioned above? I'm looking to get a quote for a carbon frame repair, broken spokes & wheel truing, some accessories needing repair and the bottom bracket/crank arm is making a clicking feeling
  20. The bolded part is awfully wrong based on the krav maga training I did. Stab someone with your knife and you just lost your knife, because there's a good chance that the organic bits hold on to the blade surface and you fail to pull it out. Slash, slash, slash, slash, slash and then slash some more. The more cuts you can inflict, the higher your chances of escaping with your life! Trying to target areas to slash is also tedious, just slash, even wildly, because if the wild slashing doesn't scare off the attacker, the massive cuts you inflict will disable them soon enough! Most importantly, as mentioned by several people though, is whichever weapon you arm yourself with, you had better train with it frequently to retain the muscle memory!
  21. Do you still have a link for that complex paper? I'm just super curious!
  22. Send a pm to i24 if you want a discussion over this as it was his post that you queried initially. If you don't care to teach people who are in the wrong, you don't deserve to enjoy the benefits of a smarter society. I have no interest in further discussing a topic based on, in your words, allegations,
  23. My physio treated me with EMS to the back of my neck muscles after a car accident. While it was working and for a few hours after, the pain and tension was relieved (in addition to hands-on physiotherapy and stretching), but it never lasted. I'd suggest you try it for yourself and see what you think of it.
  24. Good for you, now we're finally mutual
