  1. The heck? if this was meant to bait, its bait of excellent quality Just came to check what was being said about current cycling here and I'm happy to see the bird exploit human lockdown to nest in a nature reserve. Conservation is best!
  2. Oange seal is rated as 3rd place in effectiveness and most expensive between the comparisons in the link. Granted I've never had any sealant seal any puncture so am very biased, but why is there such a hype for Orange seal? Teach this sealant hater a bit, please?
  3. Thanks for sharing Frosty. I've been looking to move away from garmin myself, so its good to see a locally applied alternative.
  4. I received a call from this number (+27 63 798 9435). His name is listed as "Daniel" on Whatsapp. Dude kept phoning me out of the blue after I posted my wanted advert for a mtb. He said he had a fairly new s-works epic and wanted a ridiculously low price for it. First red flag was the price, 2nd was that he immediately said "but lowest I will go is X-20%" and third red flag was when he was pushy, requesting a security deposit because "some oke from cape town said he is at his computer ready to make deposit, but I figured you were closer and it would be easier" (4th red flag was the persistent calls, like who harasses someone like that if you want to make a sale?). When I said I'm not making any payment without seeing it, he acted as though he was insulted or whatever, but still agreed for me to come view it this Thursday evening if it is still available. Of course to no surprise, today I see the number blocked me so I have no doubt it was a scammer and also a massive creep.
  5. Do you still have a link for that complex paper? I'm just super curious!
  6. Hi Liesl. Please start a new thread. This thread is for discussion discovery products and stuff. You'll also get more hits starting a new thread as not everyone cares for vitality
  7. Thank you for sharing those documents It seems like the VA may work out cheaper if you only use Vitality for the cheaper gym fees and not the rest of the benefits. I have some calculations to do! Oh, and I also see the VA specifically mentions Virgin Active RED gyms (up to 50%) which are excluded from the normal vitality (up to 75%), as far as I'm aware of the normally assigned vitality
  8. Mr Capitan, would you be able to elaborate please? There's different types of vitality? I was under the impression that youre either "on it" or "off of it"
  9. I'm helping a friend dust off their older 26" titan hardtail and he wants some minor upgrades done. Does anyone have a lekker 26" Rockshox Reba or similar air suspension fork lying around that they'd like to sell? I see there's one in the classifieds right now, but it is 29"
  10. If it is cheaper than dischem, definitely a box (of 100?) for my account please!
  11. No kidding... the doberman's often brush me when jolting past, knocking tools out of my hands that I catch with the boots!
  12. I suppose it depends on the rigidity of the grips you're using, but I usually have foam or silicone grips running. To get them off, I sort of "worm" their way off, literally like a generic worm would crawl. I push from the centre of the handlebar side of the grip, twisting turning it towards the outside until it moves, then I take the other hand and work the "ripple effect" off towards the bar ends. This method moves it around 5-10mm off each time, until it simply slides off. edit: I actually follow the same procedure to get the last 5-30mm whatever of the grips on. I push the grip towards the bar centre, allowing it to bulge, then twist, turn and work that bulge like a wormy worm until the grip is seated properly!
  13. That global education protector advert at the bottom sure looks enticing. Too bad it cant be used for the main members themselves!
  14. Are you on the high performance program thingy with a 700 requirement? Thinking back now, I want to recall mine climbing gradually too. My bad! You can always deactivate it by email/phone call, if you wanted to. There isn't really any benefit to activating it as far as I could discover. I turned mine off so that I could still get the weekly goals when sick by walking a park run and "10 000 steps" every other day.
  15. Doesn't this always push your weekly goal up to 1200 directly?
  16. Like Blokman already answered, absolutely only tar, but the climbs can be gruesomely nice. if you want to train climbing power, its great, but technical climbing over rocks and stuff, not relevant to sbr unfortunately. I always go alone and find the downhill totally fine as long as I don't do erratic things like speed outside of my confidence zone or sit on the top tube on a turn with some loose sand. If you can ride a bike and know simple things like be cautious over loose sand/gravel, then riding alone at sbr is perfectly safe - I'm more cautious over the baboons!
  17. With or without, I'd be happy to have a carbon rim to build something artsy with! I'll send a PM
  18. Just a bump - anyone has ANY broken carbon wheels I can play with that would otherwise go to the rubbish bin?
  19. I'm trying to figure out vitality's device booster & sportsman cash back nonsense but the "benefit guide" references labels in the table which aren't described elsewhere and I'm making no progress. Would someone please be so kind as to yes/no these following statements? - To a single member, Discovery will pay at most R2000 lump sum of device booster, based off of the item's sale price (i.e. it needs to be at least R8000 to make up 25% that is the R2000) - The first month cash back, assuming all requirements are met, is the R2000 lump sum above - The following months cash back will be R4000 scattered over 24 months until the device booster duration comes to an end. (does the device need to be minimum R10 000??) - If I can buy the same device somewhere for R6000 where Sportsmans would've asked R8000, I effectively already saved the maximum amount I would "get back" from vitality incentives, excluding the monthly cash back portions of the remainder R4000. I cannot actually find a page to activate said device booster and to check if there is an "activation fee" that would make the R2000 even less worthwhile/relevant. https://www.discovery.co.za/vitality/device-booster returns a 500 error, I can't find any link in the app, even after clicking every option available. https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/expert-advice/article/discovery-vitality-device-booster says "open the app, select the Device Booster Benefit" but I've not found any such option anywhere. I'm asking all of this because I want to give my current watch to a family member to encourage them to exercise, and get the fenix 5s+ or 735xt for shorter triathlons for myself (with future power meter possibilities!)
  20. Slightly random, but if anyone has a broken 700c carbon front rim/wheel, I'd gladly pick it up. It's for a diy project. edit: rear wheel would work just as well.
  21. Great and worthy cause to donate to!
  22. What results do you get if you picked off her phone? If it's good - your phone and my phone and a few other phones have the low score bugs
  23. This sounds correct. I also recall an email stating flight booster is being discontinued somewhere in July, but once-off discounts still apply.
  24. Not the question, but that's not how flu shots work! Always worth going for the flu shot for a more versatile immune system
