  1. My advice (and just remember, this is my opinion and I do not mind being corrected). But the 800 is too wide for you, whats the length of the stem? 700-740mm with a 45-60mm stem will be the sweet spot for someone of your stature (i.e. 1.74) Pitch forks can come out now ๐Ÿ˜œ
  2. Ok, you're squarely sitting in the M terrain so scrap my offer suggestion (even though I never made it ๐Ÿ˜).
  3. Well if I have a look at the key components: Frame - alloy (nothing strange or sub-par here) Bafang rear motor - hmmm I have never heard of this but then again I do not know any e-bike stuff - https://bestebike.net/en/bafang-bbs02/#:~:text=The Bafang BBS02B 750W is,good torque (120 Nm). Mozo fork - http://www.mozo.bike/ I cant read past the spelling mistake on their website but the other thing: who will service this in SA? Shimano gears etc. Ya its 8 speed but then again what more do you want with 250W motor? Zoom brakes - https://www.amazon.com/AKANTOR-Hydraulic-Brakes-Mountain-Floating/product-reviews/B088188MVD?reviewerType=all_reviews - I am surprised. So to answer your question: Cheap and reliable. But here's what I would do if it was me (full disclosure, I do have lots of parts so for me it will be easy) I would go ahead and buy this bike and then if the bike is "well used" then I will use the electrical bits and some other parts (and yes I will take a grinder to the frame) and carry it over to 26er frame - And yes, I am aware that it will be a 24" at the back with a 26" in the front but with an e-bike it wont matter too much ๐Ÿคช
  4. Ya, I was also quite surprised to see that but, it is a 24" - if you're fairly tall it is going to look and feel quite funny. If an e-bike is what you're in the market for then I suppose this can work ๐Ÿ˜
  5. According to some folks: Your foot swells from the heat and if the shoe is too tight then your feet start burning like cray cray. I have also found that some socks create this burn as well (If you want me to name the brand then send me a dm). But ya, try the following as a free way to see if it can provide a fix: Change the brand of socks Before lacing or tightening your shoe try to make a fist with your toes i.e. pull your toes underneath your foot (you know what I mean - stop giggling). Then with your foot in that position fasten the shoe. Now relax your toes - you will find the shoe sits quite loose on your foot but as time goes by it will become a bit more snug
  6. Mr Op1, Are you using / looking for an L? How tall are you? I have a weird suggestion / offer
  7. Likewise, I am very keen. I've been wanting to do this event for many years. I love that area, amazing experience I can imagine
  8. It is something I am really keen to take on but logistics is an issue for me
  9. I will also most likely be able to assist
  10. True, but, IMO: the lifetime warranty does not mean much if you pay more than R20k over the value of what you're getting ๐Ÿ˜œ. That warranty only applies to the first owner so that is how they catch you
  11. Of the options listed the Merida is the best but also the most expensive. It is shocking to see what the stuff goes for and then what you get for the ๐Ÿ˜ณ. I would also consider Trek and most likely go for a 2nd hand.
  12. Thank you very much ya'll. It is much appreciated, an update: Atlehang and I have been chatting offline and he is keen on the Recon with the thru axle and I quickly stepped into my man shed and found a Syncros front wheel with blue decals that does not have a matching rear. This will be ideal fit for this project ๐Ÿ˜. I will keep you posted

  14. I am struggling to understand: So let me explain what I am reading - you're measuring the chain from point A to B but this does not include the link. You then remeasure from point C to D including the link and now the chain is worn? IMO: the link should not be included in the measuring of the chain as it does not form part of the chain as a unit, the link is just used to tie one end to the other. If in doubt I will fit a new link but no, your chain is still ok
  15. Thank you very much @AdamAand @Roulit is very kind of you. I am currently in discussion with Atlehang offline. He does have some cash and will be looking to do some upgrades with it. I will post an update once I've established the need ๐Ÿ˜. The way I see it: If I am going to pack a fork and a set of wheels there's most probably going to be space to add some other goodies as well ๐Ÿคช.
  16. My opinion: any material type will not be able to stay in one piece if the rider abuses the frame. But to answer your question, no, I don't believe that an older carbon frame will be weaker or inferior to an older aluminum frame.
  17. Sure no worries, ask him to add R600 to the R500 from 117 and then everything will be square. I will then pick up the shipping tab to either @droo or wherever you want me to send it. If he then sells the other fork then he'll have some bucks to either get a case of beer or a bottle of "dirty coke" for the effort droo is going to put in or maybe get himself some other bling, or both ๐Ÿ˜
  18. Then I will send this one ๐Ÿ˜. I will take the lockout off the other one
  19. Yes, sure, I think this one will be a good fit. Just excuse the background mess, I have too many of everything . Here's the deets of the fork in the kiekies: 27T52219806 - https://www.sram.com/en/service/models/fs-rcns-tk-b1?t=27T52219806 - just not sure why the image shows QR if the fork is TA Thank you @droo I can always ship it directly to you.
  20. I think that I may have something .
  21. +1 if Bongo cant help
  22. I am also keen to do the course but the last time I checked it was always held during the week. Leave came at a premium in the past but not so much anymore. I think this needs to be done in 2023. Do you mind sharing the deets please?
