  1. I agree. They should look at road surface before an event. Last year I had to bunny hop over a pothole on the road near Goudini. After the race I had to do a thorough inspection of my carbon wheels. This race is not for nervous riders.
  2. I have the 2010 crosstrails. Done 4000km without any problems. I had to replace the sealed bearings because of water damage. Cost me R80. Some people complain about the availability of the XT parts.
  3. Recycle. Call Henlo @ 027 2134387. He will beat any price and ship countrywide. Or visit recyclehobbyplanes.net
  4. 150km club ride. Training for the DC.
  5. I used First Ascent for 3 years now and can't fault them. But I never tried anything else, so can't compare them to other brands. The Revolution was good for 130km, but the Endurance was not that good. A friend bought the CPR and is very happy with it.
  6. We used Rapid sports a few months ago. We saved R120 per shirt from the last company we used. Their service is also excellent.
  7. Mine as well.
  8. A Mclaren Specialized, a Ferrari Colnago, next is a Pinarello Lamborgini!
  9. In the Bicycling review they said that the CAAD's top tube is very thin. They also said that you must be very careful when you clamp it to your bike rack. There is a lot of carbon bikes under R20 000.
  10. Look at the new 2012 Merida evo 904 scultura. Will go on sale for R15000. Full carbon, full 105 and fulcrum wheels. Looks beautifully.
  11. It is about 600m long and the maximum gradient is 23.7 according to google earth. That is not the problem though. The surface is is full of fist size round rocks. I do believe someone will be able to do it. The pic was taken on top of the climb.
  12. SKAAP KOP (SHEEP HILL) Challenge: The first rider who manages to cycle up Skaap Kop wins a sheep (cut and packed)
  13. I got two numbers in the mail today. One is only G and the other MD. The G seeding I can see on their site, but I have no idea where the MD came from. I ride all the MTB events without a timing chip.
  14. Yeah, but our top speed is their minimum speed.
  15. SRAM x4 8spd shifters. R260 @ CRC
  16. I will also hide from his muscle girls.
  17. how about a competition on the HUB?
  18. So, can I fit 29er mtb tires on my hybrid or cycle cross bike?
  19. If you turn the old handlebar upside down and saw them of just after it start to bent you have a custom bull bar.
  20. They already have to go once a year. Here is another shocker. The license for a 8 ton truck in the WC = R6000/year.
  21. The problem is , even when you don't overload the truck can breakdown. A truck that hit a pothole carrying 30 tons(the legal weight limit) will probably break something. Trucks also have to do a roadworthy test once a year. The biggest problem is drivers. They don't report problems that lead to breakdowns. I think that long distance and heavy vehicle drivers should do a course in basic mechanics so that they can identify possible problems.
  22. Good, see you there.
  23. Sorry, the site is under construction and will be up and running this afternoon. You can enter here. http://www.entrytime.com/index.asp?GoTo=EventInfo&EventID=3260
  24. Event Name: Namaqua MTB Challenge When: 29 October 2011 Where: Vredendal / Die Keldery, Western Cape Category: MTB The 56km route consists of about 90% jeep track. The climbs are mainly rocky and technical. Rewarding views of the Olifants River valley awaits the effort. Some fast down hills with hair raising bends. This route requires fit and experienced riders. Good climbing skills are necessary. Rocky hills and sandy tracks will definitely test your skills and abilities. The 32km route is mainly jeep track. The climbs can be rocky in some places and also very steep. But for every up, there must be a down, and in this case it’s no different, with fast paced descents all the way. For fit riders this will be a walk in the park, for the not so fit it will be harder, but an unforgettable challenge. The 10km route is aimed at beginners and kids.
