  1. Looks like they copied a lot from my SC Blur... especially the first few photos and the colour... Would still rather ride my Blur but these are OK
  2. s14phoenix

    Scammer

Considering he joined yesterday... that was very quick
  3. so what I am saying is that fully open you are using as much of the travel as your pressure allow and that has to go hand in hand with a bit less rebound dampening to make sure the shock returns properly and does not bog down. I would speed up the rebound or alternatively run less sag at higher pressure.
  4. harshness is often attributed to your rebound setting in particular high speed rebound and it could be that the shock is not getting time to come back up... too much rebound dampening since your hsc is fully open it is not that your settings is too hard and 20% sag seems plenty to also ensure the fork stay plush. We often complain about shock or fork harshness but we tune out all the plushness with compression and rebound dampening.
  5. There is also an XC SL model which is more expensive and lighter. No idea the weight when not lefty. Lefty setup is a lot lighter as per them.
  6. According to my sums this would work... 410g x 2 = 810g Bitex BX211R = 270g Bitex BX211F = 155g Spokes - 56 Alpine @ 5g each = 280g Nipples - 18g for ally 56g for brass Tape is another 20g a wheel so 40g roughly Grand total of: 1573g for ally and 1611g with Brass General weight of rims seem to be around 390g - 395g (27-29mm ID) so both options could work and would mean anything from 1533g to 1571g on that rims weight. Waiting to hear back from some wheelbuilders that can do these.
  7. considered - heavy and over R20k a set. 1650g for XC as per the tech guy at Omnico - 1750g for trail.
  8. Inflating a new tubeless tyre to 3.5bar so it stretches to full capacity and expands nicely - cool idea - sit them outside in the sun for the afternoon to ensure full expansion - cool idea. that's where I should have left it but noooooo. Pump till over 4bar. and park in the same room where I am sitting working - next moment - 3hours later - BANG!!!! ears ringing, sealant on the roof, the cupboard, the lcd on the wall, across my table, floor, bike etc. Looked like a very hectic night was had by more than just 2 people... checked the tyre etc - all fine. Refitted and inflated and topped up sealant - all good and been riding for the last 600km no further issue...
  9. Definately looks this way for me too. Now to wait for possible black Friday deals or not...
  10. Great wheels but alas just too narrow 23mm ID.
  11. I bought an item from a bike shop which apparently had very little use and was almost like new according to them. The item was well worn, Damaged beyond their pictures and explanations and clearly was not almost new. It was usable since I could repair it although that was not part of the deal. It was a hard to find item and repairable so I kept the item but I wont trade with the said individual or that shop again. But it does make me hot under the collar and leaves an aftertaste...
  12. Worth a note: Lyne has 5yr warranty and 5yr crash replacement deal Dark Horse has 2yr warranty and NO crash replacement deal
  13. To be fair all the other options seem way more expensive at well over the price of these with their +/-R15000 price point. South is great but they work out a lot more expensive and the other options are also quite heavy - DT350 set is R26000 now. Some custom Carbon 28spoke builds came to 1500g 26/27mm ID with DT350 hubs @ +/-R17000 which I cannot tell that they are much better than these hubs or builds but they are unbranded and thus I am not sure if any warranty exists. CSIXX 6Series is close but I do not see any benefit over the 2 options above. So given the options above and the fact that I am a lightweight @ +/-70kg. would you rather get the 32spoke DH or the 28 spoke Lyne suppose it does not really matter or does it?.
  14. So I am looking for some carbon mtb wheels with the following spec: 29er Boost - obviously 27mm to 31mm ID - because size matters Under 1600g - yes the weight matters MicroSpline freehub - not negotiable To go onto a 120mm/100mm travel bike with trail (or down country for the hipsters) and general XC hooliganism in mind and all the local races. Options: Lyne Pulse: R14999 28 spoke 29mm ID Lyne hubs JB01 with either the smaller or bigger bearings 1490g (claimed with small bearings) or add 90g for big bearing version - 1580g. Not sure how accurate the weight is on these and if it is with rim tape DarkHorse: R14300 32 spoke 29mm ID Bitex hubs same bigger bearings as big bearing Lyne hubs 1568g claimed but is apparently an accurate measurement with rim tape - not sure how accurate the weight is on since recently I saw a lot of manufacturers lie about the weights and specs. Any others??? Looking for recommendations and comments if anyone has these particular wheels also. Seems like a no brainer win for the DarkHorse being 32 spoke and slightly lighter at the same spec an local pros running them on XC races.
  15. Yup and then there is often officials or ride leaders in the groups. I think we have beaten this dead horse back to life and dead again a few times with the eventual outcome the community sending a general message of "don't be a a #### be lekke" which falls on deaf ears and then the "but I am totally innocent" bunch jump up and everyone wants photo, video and positive identification. It's like telling motorists to obey the road rules - not gonna happen until caught and brought to book and THEN suddenly they are soooo sorry and promise it will never happen again.
  16. So what bike are you buying?
  17. Depends on the bike... carbon and weight or aesthetics
  18. that's just sad and causes more sadness which only excessive retail therapy cures
  19. yes but carbon crank, carbon wheels, Fox Factory Kashima 34SC
  20. If your caravan happens to tour Europe following all the grand tours as well as visiting some world cup MTB events and bike parks - I am in. #LIFEGOALS
  21. just built a new MTB. I have an Excel sheet with the actual weights of each item on the bike (I also have one for the road bike) I have plans for about R35k worth of upgrades to take the bike from a sub 11kg to sub 10kg - then it is REALLY gonna ride UP GRADES. I am actually trying to pick up weight so the bike will HAVE TO lose it...
  22. not to be funny but why have the insurance then - sounds to me like the repairer gets a nice payday by promising repair whether it is recommended or not - also the manufacturer will always recommend replacement am sure the insurance knows this - they make sure their assessor is educated about the item etc. so you sound pretty screwed - by your insurance that is. I would then expect it to be as good as new and would be an insurance worst nightmare to get it done perfect. Who is the insurer? would like to know so the rest of us do not use them... repaired is never the same as from the factory it could possibly be stronger or less so and the weight wont be same due to more or even less material used than OEM. The area on the frame cannot be remanufacured like originally.
  23. need to have the repairer or bike shop motivate that the repair is not going to fix it or cannot be repaired or not recommended as the effect on weight/performance etc etc
  24. Virtually worthless unfixed.
  25. Not sure if the spec changed but I also saw that...
