  1. start being moved to the parade
  2. How do you separate your rides from the Kid's on strava (different accounts?) using the same garmin? I started Stravaing my daugthers rides too but then just end up deleting it after we both had a look at it.
  3. Knog!! Very well priced USB rechargeable Multiple brightness settings Long lasting I think Freewheel has them for R110 https://www.facebook.com/knogsa/
  4. The wind is ALWAYS bad under the civic. In 2009 only 2 groups made it through without anyone been blown over. Everyone pushed their bikes thru that point. Thereafter, although windy, it was manageable. Maybe should have moved the start a bit further after the civic? Altough I think the race committee probably had just too much to deal with. The wind. The protests. The fire. Unfortunately it Probably the right decision if you look at it as a whole picture.
  5. That was my first. Don't think the wind prediction this Sunday will be half as bad of that
  6. Hi Guys Need some advice... Looking to buy a bike for my 5yo daughter but looking to get something decent as heard the "Game & Makro bikes" are no good and fall apart in no time.. I also have a 1.5yo that will make use of it at a later stage What are your suggestions? TIA
  7. So after all the "news" on the passing of Burry, the "hate" towards taxis and sympathy and condolences for the family... There has been no detailed report as to what happened. How exactly did it happen?
  8. Im all for giving us cyclists better protection, but 1.5m!! If I think of driving over Chappies on any weeken, let alone the month before the Argus, it would make it impossible for a motorist to pass a cyclist at 1.5m, oncoming traffic and solid barrier lines. There are many other narrow roads like this in Cape Town The best solution, yet the most "improbable", is the awareness and respect/courtesy route - by both cyclists, motorists and pedestrians.
  9. I seem to have a similar problem Jadon and the more i tell/show my friends the more they say it cant be and laugh at me LOL! anyways... This solution definitely helps/works for me. Doubt it should be used as a permanent fix, but sure does the trick
  10. Seems once you CLose an item it is removed from the listings Can it not be so that when Closed, it does not allow further posts and still remains listed. I have always found that posts that are "closed" due to items being sold provide a great tool for valueing items for either buying/selling.
  11. if you find the hills easy then I would say more than half your work is one for a sub4 The endurance training may be a bit boring, but it is easily overcome by learning to sit in the bunches and doing minimal work there I did very little training for this Argus (first kid born) - less than 3 months training an managed a 4h37. Woulda proly made a 4h15 if I hadn't stopped in Jubilee Square and lost a very quick group. and im not really good on the hills My training in that time were mainly 2or3 30-40km rides with climbs and only did 3 long rides - a 50km, a 80km and a 105km And endurance training in CPT is easy as there are ALWAYS routes that have distance as well as some nice training climbs to relieve the "boredom"
  12. heard some talk about this new low GI supplement 31GC or something like that thats also fit for diabetics Whats it caled? Where can i Get it in CPT? and how much?
  13. she lieg! she did a 4h38!
  14. think it was marked at 15k at the argus expo
  15. latest forum posts...
  16. I miss the "latest Forums Posts" quick menu from the left when browsing the new classifieds section Also any chance you could have the categories quick menu in the new classifieds section in java/ajax? Getting to the tyres section, say, is like 2 page loads. If it worked using a popdown menu system, it would be much more navigable
  17. Agreed totally! But make them cheaper and more interesting and ppl may be tempted to spend It normally costs about R2 to do a digital print at most digital photo outlets If it were R25/R30 per print - I may still be tempted to purchase LOL true that! Although that shold be a "once-in-a-lifetime" expense! So the hardware costs are way more than I allowed for and so much more factors that may/may not add the price of the pics. Someone did mention that they have to pay per entrant to be there - that is a huge price factor for sure. In my opinion that still doesn't warrant the prices being asked
  18. So would we now have to choose which section (new or old) to post under? 2 posts or automatically update both sections? but else it looks AWESOME!!
  19. R65,000 for a camera - are you kidding me!! Ive never seen the pores on my face on any of the pics ive got from them! Take 20 photographers with cameras and lenses: 20*R20,000 (that should get a decent one) =R400,000 Add R50,000 for transport and wages for the day =R450,000 Say 10,000 of the 35,000 cyclists buy at least one photo.... ....R45 a pic! Come the next event all their hardware costs are already covered... Granted there are lotsa other expenses that ive overlooked, but they do like 4or5 events a month AT LEAST! No need to rip us off...
  20. Just too expensive! if you lucky they send you hard copys to view - display that in a frame for bout 5 months and send it back afterwards
