Honestly, my last outside ride was 26Dec, and probably won't be another for a good few months (health issues). So things could have changed. But, the Petrusburg/Kimberley road was great, once you are past Makro. Just the Kloofeind stretch, if you want to make it a loop, that was bad even before the good rains in Jan. Same with the Dealsville road - great for at least 20km, once out of town. Abrahamskraal road is probably MTB-only by now

Its also one of the few roads that isn't 60% pothole.
  3. Remember to download a new setup from the site if you do reinstall. A while back, the installer was updated which speeds up downloading updates.
  4. It really seems to be "What works best for you specifically". I used to have regular trainer dropouts via bluetooth on my tablet with my H2 trainer, so I ended up upgrading my old PC's graphics card and run Zwift on that, using ANT+ (long USB cable to a powered USB hub right next to the bike). Bought a H3 end last year, and oddly my wife doesn't have the same bluetooth dropouts with the H2 that she now uses. So, either a firmware update on the H2, or a software update on the tablet, or maybe the H2 just didn't like me. Or 50cm to the right in the same room has less interference. Who knows
  5. I had a similar issue last year. Just a slow decline since mid last year. Finally went for blood tests end Nov, and found out my iron stores are very low. The Dr decided to prescribe a specific iron pill for a few months, if follow-up blood tests don't show improvement then also IV iron.
  6. I just saw that Willie Smit has a video up for some lights. The front light has a Garmin mount, and comes with a GoPro adapter, and it uses a Type-C port with fast charging.
  7. On what device, also an Android tablet? I've seen the occasional blip with Rouvy, but at least it generally reconnects by itself quite quickly. On Zwift it was like after a Bluetooth dropout, it doesn't start reading from the trainer again. It remains connected to the trainer (blue light on the trainer) but claims "No signal". Unfortunately ANT+ is not an option on the tablet (anymore, thanks Huawei!).
  8. Unexplained trainer dropouts during a race or workout, when Rouvy on the same tablet has no issues. (Spindly cyclist) HULK ANGRY!!!!! Thankfully I got a better graphics card for my PC. Naturally, now that my wife uses the same tablet for Zwift, no dropouts, with the same trainer...
  9. I did it tonight. Realised during the second block that the third block (40s on, 20s off-is) was definitely not going to happen at 100%. I've been lazy, I have a group ride and four workouts to catch up on.
  10. I was ok until the last few weeks. We have a 40-something cm floor fan, and a pedestal fan (one of those with the mist function). Usually I only have the floor fan on myself (on 1 or 2), as my wife uses the pedestal one when she's riding at the same time. With the heat the last two weeks (Saturday evening was 28 degrees, inside, at half past 7pm), riding any time other than in the morning before work is not so much fun, so considering my options for extra cooling. I'm considering one of those Midea or similar portable aircons for now, at least then we can move it to the bedroom or study as needed.
  11. "We all know the feeling when we tackle the Volcano KOM at a FULL GAS or follow an attack on Box Hill– our heart rate surges with breathing rate close to maximum. Today's workout tests how deep you can go for 4min, followed by how well you can recover from such efforts." That part is currently my achilles heel. Take last night's race - one good effort at the start, 4m38 in Z5... and the most of the rest of the race spent in Z3, and yet my HR rarely coming below 170bpm. Sigh! I see plenty of painful 30/30 intervals in my future
  12. You can warn us about the suffering that still awaits us
  13. Hmm, I found Workout 2 much easier than the first, probably because the rest periods between the sprints are so long.

If initial benchmark leaks of the next AMD CPUs are to be believed, would a Threadripper be worth it? Not that I'll be upgrading any time soon anyway, my Ryzen 5 3600 will be more than enough for my purposes for a few years to come.
  15. I have a Saris H2.
  16. Jup, I had to point a fan at my trainer if I knew I was doing the Alpe, otherwise it would let go of the resistance after a while to protect itself. So, now I just have the 'difficuly' at 50%, which allows me to use a gear that keeps the trainer flywheel speed higher at the same cadence. Cost of a new trainer > ego of MUST BE 100% ????
  17. Well, the Garmin Vivoactive 3 is "on special" at Takealot today as well, for R4999. So, compared purely to that, this at Dischem seems to be a great deal
  18. Absolutely zero information or images available, or am I missing something... Another one that looks quite interesting, that supposedly should be launching soon (at least as a beta, for 1000 users, according to a post on their Facebook page) is Veloton: https://velotoncycling.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGGgIppn6ZCfoRHn0rWEH7g It is based on Pro Cycling Manager, something like that
  19. Did it previously work on the same machine? Are there any strange errors in your log files? https://support.zwift.com/locating-log-files-BykKO63fr#PC

PS5 prices, also at "Yeah nah!" level: https://mybroadband.co.za/news/gaming/367739-playstation-5-south-african-pricing-revealed.html With the games I've been playing recently (Thimbleweed Park, Streets of Rogue), my Radeon R390 will be good enough for a long time to come. Can't even remember where I left of with Borderlands 3. So spending this much on a console makes no sense for me currently
  21. Could be Brad Gouveris, in which case yes, u/23 pro I believe. He won quite a few of the previous "Support SA Talent Virtual Series" races

So the next Xbox, the top one, will cost less than a Nvidia RTX 3070. https://mybroadband.co.za/news/gaming/366766-xbox-series-s-and-x-pre-order-and-launch-dates-revealed.html
  23. It just feels like I've been struggling to ride at the same power, but with average heart rate the same or higher. So I just want to do a ramp test, so I don't try and do the workouts based on X FTP if I should be doing it at X - 30W. You can register now, on that link you gave above, by the way
  24. It will probably be to the left on the screen as you select which world to start in, the lastest update's changelog mentions "In-game registration opens September 8th for Cycling". I'll probably do it, I just need to do a ramp test before, otherwise it will definitely not go well.
