  1. It doesn't go straight to the respective page's Dashboard anymore. Which is an odd design choice. Then you have to use the menu to go to where you wanted to go in the first place.
  2. I added about 800m last week when I saw I needed an extra minute or so, I thought it would be enough yesterday. I was struggling with my breathing, so the last thing I expected was to be faster. Same route today was three minutes slower, so back to being a slowpoke but points in the virtual bag I'm not sure my Tomtom has a lap feature, will check it out
  3. Ai! Went for a run this afternoon (instead of the road ride I had planned, to avoid the It's Time traffic), got a PB 5km, heart-rate 164bpm avg.... but the total time was a few seconds less than thirty minutes so no points. That'll teach me
  4. Well, for one my wife dislikes a HRM chest strap enough that the lure of free smoothies couldn't get her to wear it. For her the Garmin 225 (old and on special in Feb) I got her works perfectly. And also, for certain activities (like crossfit), I'd rather risk my secondhand Tomtom cardio than my smartphone. I don't NEED to track it..... but I like to Edit: but I do agree, for most sports and people a phone and bluetooth HRM strap is more than enough, especially with today's glued-to-the-phone generation.
  5. I just spoke to a colleague whose husband runs the Two Oceans every year. They've already cancelled their leave. They are not willing to risk their safety and the large expense on hopefully not having a repeat of the protests. I understand that there was little choice but cancel the event. You can only reroute so many times, you can only delay so much. It was a nice breakaway, and we visited family that we don't see that frequently. My only real concern is if I (and everyone who has to drive far and stay over for the event) can trust that the chances of more such protests affecting the event next year are slim.
  6. Well, I'm rather glad I did the Herald last month, and the Amashova last year! And I think I will do the same going forward - wind is something else, but there is no way to guarantee that similar protests won't cause havoc at the CTCT in future. Both those events are very nice, and I can possibly look to combine the Amashova with a nice South Coast holiday
  7. I'm starting in AL, who else is riding? I last did it in 2013, hopefully the weather is as nice this year.
  8. Taking it seriously = good. Taking it "waaaaaaaay to seriously" increases the chances of this though: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/drugsinsport/12160508/Doping-culture-that-is-threatening-to-ruin-British-amateur-sport-could-be-worse-than-anyone-realises.html While by far most of the riders wouldn't be doing this, the possibility is there, and by not testing...
  9. Probably just a numbers thing - look at the size of the bunch in the pics of the article, and that is Elite AND U23 ladies. As far as I can see from the results, only sixteen Elite ladies started, and twelve U23 ladies.
  10. A mud bath in Bloem today
  11. Anyone who previously had Strava linked, that moved to a different device after the Strava syncing was disabled last year, that had trouble with the new device syncing?
  12. 1A for me. A letter better than last year, but two minutes later start.
  13. I bought a used Tomtom Runner 2 Cardio to use with Vitality, received it on Wednesday afternoon. Registered an account that evening and linked it on the Vitality website. Yesterday's workouts have not synced yet, but I'll give that until Monday. What I find more odd is that the Vitality site says: Last sync 02:05 05 Apr, 2016 My non-existant-at-the-time Tomtom account synced to Vitality nine months before I got the device? Suuuuuure, Discovery..... whatever you say.
  14. According to one of the comments on that post, it is a captive snake (doesn't look very captive to me, but ok) of some guy in Lydenburg. But should you come across one, bunny hop higher than you've ever done in your life. While praying. Then burn your crapped shorts.
  15. Agreed, for a few hundred more you can get the Bryton 330. Sure, it is no Garmin and doesn't come with any sensors either, but I think it is a better buy than this Cateye
  16. Mango Groove and Paul Simon doing it for me tonight (and Karen Zoid with Neil Sandilands singing Liefde uit die oudedoos), so:
  17. Sigh... some day I am going to win something other than a water bottle, I'm sure of it... Congrats to the winner
  18. Shouldn't safety actually be about highlighting the things the cyclists/pedestrians AND motorists do that transgress the law? If both groups knew and followed the rules of the road, it would be a safer place for everyone and both groups would be less pissed off at each other all the time. I ride mostly road, so I absolutely agree with you about the attitude that we are intruders on THEIR road, it is nonsense, we do have the right to be there. All of the things in the press release are obvious things that NO cyclist should be doing because DUH! The fact that they even sent out this kind of press release means that there are still the few idiots doing these kinds of things. I still see riders without helmets, on the wrong side of the road, skipping traffic lights, riding two abreast on busy roads... some of those might not endanger anyone but the perpetrator, and yes it is less dangerous than a motorist skipping the same traffic light, but it is still illegal.

Are the prescription inserts an optional extra? And roughly how much did it cost for the lenses?
  20. Well, the MTB ride was a bit of a mess due an issue at the entrance of the botanical gardens. Some of the earlier riders were allowed through, but when we got there they had obstructed the entrance with a small truck. So my 75km turned into a 30km. Hopefully we are provided with more information eventually regarding which party decided to not play ball and why. The road race went much better, haven't yet heard of people missing the route (unlike last year). The speed allowed in the neutral zone was a bit high, and that combined with some loose gravel and speed bumps to end some riders' race early on. Overall, not a bad weekend of riding, hopefully the event can improve even further next year.
  21. I received my start time for Sunday's road race, AL starting at 6:15. Nothing yet for the MTB ride, doing the 75km. Anyone else doing the double? Edit: MTB info also received, AL at 7:45.
  22. Can you imagine the backlash if it is not just free smoothies, but your bank charges (for example) that depend on your Garmin or whatever syncing? Or if certain devices stop being supported, like this year?
